Tasty Treat: Island Style "Hawaiian" Popsicle

It’s SUMMER indeed. The weather is HOT HOT HOT.
One of the best way to cool off …
is to have some refreshing Golden Delish Popsicles
In honor of ME entering the Maui Humane Society 2012 calendar,
mom made a special Island Style “Hawaiian” Popsicle.
The 2 Main Ingredients for this recipe are Pineapple and Banana
PINEAPPLE
On the island of Maui, pineapple is locally grown known as Maui Gold.
Maui Gold Pineapples: Maui, HI
Maui Gold pineapples are famous for its extra sweet taste and low acidity. These characteristics were developed over several years by traditional horticulturalists who crossed hundreds of natural pineapple varieties in the search for the best flavorful fruit. How long do you think it takes to grow a Maui Gold pineapple? Well, it takes full 18 months to grow a Maui Gold pineapple. The fruit is perfectly ripe in the field for only 48-72 hours. Once picked, pineapples will not ripen further. These are the reasons why Maui Gold pineapple taste so so good and you can’t compare it to the other pineapples in the market.
Apple Banana Tree, Maui HI
BANANA
Banana trees are everywhere in the islands of Hawaii. The banana fruits develop from the banana heart, in a large hanging cluster, made up of tiers (called hands), with up to 20 fruit to a tier.

The best bananas grown in Hawaii are known as the Apple Bananas. They are the BEST! Basically, it’s “cute” mini banana and  sweet as an apple.  Many say that once you’ve eaten an apple banana, you won’t want a regular banana again.
Most grocery store/market sells mini bananas but it is not from Hawaii.
Here’s the recipe …  Island Style “Hawaiian” Popsicle
(Maui Gold Pineapples and Apple Bananas were not used in this recipe.
Substitute it on what’s available in your grocery store/market.)
1/2 cup of Pineapple (cut in small pieces)
1 ripe Banana (cut in small pieces)
1/2 – 1 tsp of Honey
(drizzled over the cut pineapples, helps out to lessen the acidity)
Ice Cubes (10 -15 cubes)
Take Note:

Depending on the acidity of the pineapple, adjust the amount used for this recipe.
Pineapple is considered to be safe for dogs and as a “coprohagia” remedy
(a topic I might discussion for later).

Mixed all the ingredients
in a blender.
Pour into an
ice cube tray or special doggy mold.
Freeze it
for about 2 hours.

A Delightful Island Style “Hawaiian” Popsicle.
Tasty Treat that both you and your dog can enjoy together.
