Sweet Benefits Of Sweet Potato For Dogs

November 5, 2013

Over the weekend, I was rewarded with a DELISH Tasty Sweet Potato Fries.
Sweet Potato has many health benefits.

– very high in a wide spectrum of nutrients,
rich in beta carotene, dietary fibre, vitamin B6, vitamin C and several minerals.

– source of potent antioxidant to help in healing,
cancer prevention, and fight the effects of aging

– high fiber content makes it great for the digestive system.

Baked Sweet Potato Fries for Dogs

Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Ingredients: Sweet Potato, Coconut Oil, Tumeric (optional)

Peel a sweet potato and cut into sticks. Coat the sweet potato sticks with coconut oil. Sprinkle some turmeric. Bake it for ~ 30 minutes at 350 (convection bake). For crispy fries, change bake to broil on last 5 minutes of cooking time.

For DOGS: Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Keep in mind, if you are watching your dog’s weight, sweet potatoes contain high levels of carbohydrates and sugar. In my case, its alright as I need to gain some weight. For the coming months, Sweet Potato is going to be part of my regular diet. For sure mom will find different ways to make some DELISH Tasty Sweet Potato Treats.

Sweet potato is a Casa de Kolchak favourite. Did you know it’s a pretty powerful anti-inflammatory food? That’s why so many “allergy friendly” pet foods are made with it!

Never mind the canine, sweet potato fries are one of MY favorite treats! I might have to try this for the HUMANS only dusted with cinnamon instead of turmeric. Anyway Toby is back on his diet so he would only get one or two, depending on his begging skills…which usually are pretty spectacular. Lucky you Sugar to be able to consume nice healthy treats!

Our Little Bit loves them too Sugar, and with all the allergies she has she is not allergic to sweet potatoes. We’re happy about that.

Vlad & Barkly love sweet potatoes, but I’m not so inclined to give it to them very often just because it’s seems so hard to cut them up–harder than most anything else in the kitchen except for maybe turnips that they love too. Do you have any EASY way to cut up these really large, hard tubers?

Katie loves sweet potatoes, I don’t like them much and usually turn my nose up at treats that taste like them or I carry it around forever and just guard it. I’m much more a fan of fruits than veggies.
