It’s been raining for the past four days and more rain is expected.
The sun peaked out mid-afternoon and had to take advantage of it.
I went for a long walk. The first stop was the dog beach.
There were dogs swimming but could not join them due to my allergies.
I just watched from the distance.
Then, I went for a neighborhood walk and checked out all the Halloween decorations. It is noticeable that lots of home owners took time to creatively decorate their homes.Honestly, most of the Halloween spooky decorations were frightening to me. Check out the photos below. Imagine being greeted by these spooky decorative creatures.
Lots of homes were decorated with hanging bats/witches,
ghostly pumpkins, and cob webs.
Halloween is usually a fun time particularly for kids and some adults.
However it can be frightful to others particularly to your loving pet dog.
Here are some helpful Tips on Coping with your Dog on Halloween
- Acclimate your dog to events/situations that can occur during Halloween: doorbell ringing, spooky decorations, trick or treaters with odd looking costumes.
- During peak hours of trick or treaters, prepare a safe secure place for your dog to hang out. Provide a special toy and treats. Do not think your dog is missing out with all the Halloween fun.
- Always keep an eye of your dog. Monitor your dog’s behavior and temperament at all times.
- Be aware that candy/chocolate/other treats can be hazardous to your dogs health. Chocolate is extremely toxic to your dog.
- Keeping appropriate and healthy dog treats around for your dog is a good idea. Just remember not to overfeed your dog. Sliced of fruits or vegetable such as banana, apples, and carrots are great tasty alternative snacks that both you and your dog can enjoy together.
Being prepared ahead of time is always a great plan.
It surely reduces potentially stressful situations for both you and your dog.
Halloween can be a traumatic time for your dog.
Be aware of your dog’s safety and be sensitive to your dog’s stress level.
With these tips, everyone can enjoy all the festivities on Halloween.
On my way home, the sky transformed to be spooky.

Hey Sugar…
Sorry about the allergies keeping you out of the water. Yep those big blow up lawn decorations are a bit scary and soon kids running screaming in weird outfits. Thanks for all the tips.

Hey there, Sugar
We must compliment you – you are the first blog that we have seen that has given some really practical and sensible advice about the Halloween celebrations. Well done on the great advice!!!
We don't have much of it here, except that some folk just go mad with the fireworks.(ouch!)
Anyway, sorry about your allergies, but be comforted because my mom only allows me to OCCASIONALLY swim in our pool – for the same reason.

Great advice for the dogs, Sugar. I hope everyone will follow your advice and stay safe. Halloween is too spooky for me – I will be inside and probably tucked away in my favorite nap place of the day.
This is Oak's first Halloween as a dog. I never even thought, how crazy is will be on that night! Thanks for the great info and reminding me to prepare.
He's finding alot of the decorations scary too:(

Thank you Sugar for your visit. You are quite a sugar sweet dog.
Wow, pretty scary the pictures. Not suitable for young puppies. Aren't you scared of Halloween's party? All that masks and costumes, brr.
Still, we like the pumpkins very much.
And we like you, too.
Sweet licks for a sugar sweet dog.

Thank you for stopping by Jack's blog. Sugar looks like a very happy puppy!!
Jack doesn't seem to be bothered by the Halloween decorations – but then again – he's not bothered by much of anything! 🙂
Can I admit to being a little scared? That bat got me! 🙂
