Very fortunate to have a great Fall weekend weather.
It was breezy and filled with lots of sunshine.
Definitely, took advantage of it …
took long walks and had fun playing out in the backyard.
I saw my bunny friends …
but no sight of Fred, my chipmunk friend.
This is the most recent photo of Fred taken last June from our patio.
Many of you have asked : What is a chipmunk?
A chipmunk is a burrowing ground squirrel.
It’s cheek pouches and has a light/dark stripes running down it’s body.
Chipmunks are among the smaller members of the squirrel family,
and are recognized by their stripes.
Here are some interesting facts I found about
Chipmunks vs Squirrels.
1. Chipmunks live in holes. Squirrels live in trees and have nests.
2. Squirrels are larger than chipmunks.
3. Chipmunks hold their food in their cheeks.
4. Cats eat them both.
5. Squirrels are better climbers than chipmunks.
I got inspired and wrote a poem: Fred
Fred, the chipmunk.
My furry backyard friend.
Makes squeaky chirpy blend.
Love to chase him but
he moves so quick.
Fred can run so slick.
Fred digs a hole
for his winter home.
Collects nuts and berries
to keep for his winter sleep.
Lots of Golden Woofs,

Oh Sugar it sounds like you had a great week end even if Fred didn't come out. We love chipmunks too. They are so cute and that is a wonderful poem your mom wrote about Fred. Well done.
What a great poem (and pictures!) I think Sugar has a future in the greeting card business!
Love it!!! And, you have bunny friends too!?!?!?
Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,
Sierra Rose
Wooos! If I had those, I would not name them, I think I would eat them, a nice tasty little snack? Oh well, Mom says it is good we don't have any as a little girl, she had one winter as a pet…..

Hey Sugar
I didn't know you were a poet. That's a great tribute to fred. I don't know if he appreciates it.. but we do.

Sugar, you looked so happy there! What a nice poem you wrote for Fred. Hope he'll be back soon when winter ends.
*woof woof* I love the poem!
And I think I miss Fred too, even though I never seen a real chipmunk before.
Thanks for the nice clarification.
So chipmunks are good and squirrels are evil?
Hi Sugar! Thanks for stopping by my blog.
We have chipmonks at my house too. They hide in the stone wall and yell at me. Very confusing.
Slobbers,
Mango
Hey Sugar
Thank you for teaching me something today. We don't have chipmunks here, so it was good to hear more about them. We love your poem too.

It's so much fun going outside and seeing all your friends!
What a fun pawem that is! I like to chase squirrels, we have lots of them here, but no chipmunks or bunnies! I wish our kitties would run, I'd chase them too!
Hi Sugar! Great to meet you, thanks so much for stopping by my blog.
You remind me of my boyfriend's uncle's Golden, Sandy. 🙂
You sure are talented, too, to match the adorable looks – don't think I could have written a poem that well!
Hi Sugar! Found your blog from Sunshine and Mud Puddles. Didn't know there was such an adorable poet blogging! 🙂
Hi Sugar,
We like your poem about Fred, hope you get to see him again. It looks like your looking hard for him.
I wonder where Fred went? He sure is cute!
What a lovely poem, Sugar. Sam isn't much interested in chipmunks here – just rabbits… 🙂
Sam
Hey sugar, cute little poem. Glad you enjoyed the weekend. It was nice and sunny here too gotta love that sunshine. 🙂
So that's what those things are — I chase them all around my yard too, but never knew what they were. Thanks for telling me Sugar — Lena
Fred is adorable… and so was your poem. I'm sure he'll be back!
Sugar- I know you'll keep watching for Fred! You just want to play, right?
Hi Sugar, Fred is adorable. I always see chipmunks when i visit the mountains in NC. My doggies play with squirrels here in Florida.
That's a great poem, Sugar!! You be on the lookout for Fred and I'll be on the lookout for Chippy! Hope you didn't mind I linked your book in my post today.
