One great benefit living in Hawaii is accessing locally grown fruits.
One of my mom favorite fruits is Lychee. Hawaii is one of many sources for Lychee.
Lychee fruits are heart shaped. It has a thin , tough, inedible rind that is easy to peel off.
Once peeled you’ll see a whitish flesh with hard brown pit.
Mom says Lychee fruits are very sweet with a fragrant taste.
Lychee is a great source for Vitamin C and B.
It aids enhancing the energy of the body.
Lychee is a fruit known to boost feelings of well-bring in a person.
Mom peeled and pitted some Lychee for me to taste. TASTY! DELISH!

Hey Sugar, Jet here.
Oh Sugar, you have found the secret to the good things in life. Mom is a lychee fanatic. Our season runs for about 6 weeks in mid May through June.
Bad news for us: the weather patterns did not cooperate and lychees will be few and far between this year. We’re crying already. Enjoy lychees for me this season, Sugar!

Hi Sugar, One of the fruits I love is the red spiney ball things-don’t know what it is called(they just finished their season)but the same size as a lychee and you just pop it out the same way-in fact it has a seed too.
They are so yummy, of course all native fruits–especially pineapple, taste better in the islands. I love guavas, papayas etc-o.k. so now I am missing being there!!!! I love our home but your islands are so beautiful.
Have a great day in the sand, surf and sunshine!

That was one of the things my Mommy loved about Hawaii, all the fresh fruit. She didn’t get to try Lychee though.
Daddy is on Oahu now, Mommy will tell him to look for it and give it a try if he finds it.
I miss being able to get Lychee fresh like I did when I lived in California. Now I can only get them canned in an Asian store, but I love the fresh ones better. Glad you liked them, Sugar. Sadly, I never had a doggy that loved eating fruit!
