It’s all over the news … Arsenic in RICE.
RICE is a staple food for many families.
There’s a saying “A meal is not a meal unless there’s rice.”
I only eat rice with chicken on special occasions/events.
We did some google research and found out …
Arsenic is all around us.
Arsenic is found in the air we breathe, water we drink and the food we eat.
Arsenic is a natural compound, meaning it is in the soil and ground.
Rice is grown in a soggy environment which is vulnerable to arsenic exposure.
According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency),
Arsenic intake from rice is 17%.
Fruits and fruit juices 18%.
The highest level of arsenic is in vegetables, 24%.
We also learned cooking rice the old style way …
rinsing/washing thoroughly and boiling reduces 30% of the arsenic.
Hey ! this is how mom cooks rice.
So, Is RICE Safe to eat?
Being aware of arsenic and moderate consumption of rice and other rice products is helpful.
My mom will be cautious in using rice flour when making tasty treats for me.

Very interesting information. We love rice around here, but we usually only get it when we have a tummy upset. Have a great Tuesday!
Wow! Thanks for the information – we knew arsenic was showing up in a lot of our environment, but not in those quantities.
Sam

We read about the rice too. My daughter and her family eat rice everyday as her husband is Chinese. It always seems there is something from the environment getting in our food. Being aware is the best defense. 🙂
Very interesting. MOM and I only eat brown rice, sometimes wild rice. Thanks for the info.
Blessings,
Goose
Don’t want to cause a panic but mom and I have determined that life is poisenous! We are both from the moderation is ok for most things and if rice were really that deadly, how are the Asian folks still living??? We like rice once and a while.
Very good information Sugar! Sometimes we wonder if it’s best we just didn’t know some things like back in the day when technology wasn’t around to tell us all the bad things. But, at least we’re aware and doing our best to stay healthy!
Ma heard about this on the news. It seems that white rice has less arsenic that brown rice. Good thing that both Ma and I can’t eat brown rice! Always like gettin’ the 411 from you Sugar!
Kisses,
Ruby
Gosh, is anything safe anymore? We love our rice!
Love ya lots,

Thank you for the info. Momma ate tons of peanut butter crackers once & found out they were recalled for poisoning. She was wondering why she didn’t feel good
