We were at the beach.
My peeps brought gears for snorkeling.
There are only two basic gears for snorkeling, a mask and fins.
A rash guard is worn especially if the water is cold.
Snorkeling is a very popular water activity here in Hawaii.
Snorkeling is easy to learn. Once learned, it can be relaxing and a very rewarding water activity. There are numerous interesting things you can see underwater.
Since I got here (7 months ago), I’ve been swimming and diving underwater to retrieve my toy.
I’ve been fortunate to swim with some fish, click here to check my previous post.
I don’t think I need gears particularly fins.
My 4 Golden legs/paws are sufficient for underwater swimming, no need for fins.
Why fins are needed for snorkeling?
Fins aren’t mandatory for snorkeling, but it is useful. Fins can help you get down more quickly so that you can see more of the underwater world on that breath of air.
Using fins is a matter of comfort. It is important to wear the proper size. A larger size fins allow someone to swim somewhat faster but it requires more human “horsepower” to operate. Also, larger fins can also be heavier which makes someone clumsier in the water and can cause damage to the underwater environment.
I am not fond of gears.
I decide to just walk along the beach with my toy.
If you plan to visit Maui, Hi, snorkeling is ‘a must’ water activity.
On our future post(s) we will share our favorite spots where to snorkel in Maui.
Lots of Golden L♥VE n Woofs
SUGAR
We bet you’re an excellent snorkeler, Sugar. You do look much cuter strutting down the beach, though. Happy Monday. xoxo
We’d stick to the beach as well. But it’s great your peeps can enjoy snorkling whenever they want.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Snorkeling sounds fun 🙂 Except I don’t like the waters!!
Cotton
You’re right, no need for fins. Hope you got to see some cool fish too!
Sugar you have mom Hawaii dreaming for sure today!
She says if she visits will you take her on one of your most wonderful excursions around the island?
Hugs sweet thang from your BFFF

i did not know the water got cold in Hawaii. thought it was always summer there.
Have you chased the fish, I bet they are so fun to see.
My mom and sister LORI (Sarge’s Mom) have Snorkled in Hanama Bay I don’t think I spelled it right. They LOVED it.
Hey Sugar!
Wow, Frankie’s right…they snorkeled at Hanauma Bay and the fishies were gorgeous! Sometimes those fins help the peeps keep their feet from stepping on fire coral. Anyway, you’re golden paws are perfect just the way they are! Enjoy the surf!
Grr and Woof,
Sarge, COP
Hey Sugar,
You seem to be doing just fine without snorkel gear, but you made me imagine you with 4 fins, a mask and a snorkel on and I started laughing!! 🙂
Have fun my friend,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
I did lots of snorkeling on Maui, the Big Island and Kauai. You are a lucky dog to live there!
Sugar, I’d really love to see you wearin’ those fins! BOL But you’re right. We can paddle without fins!
Oh mom loves that snorkeling. Especially when you see a big turtle. Did you steal some buddy’s mask? BOL
Benny & Lily
You must have so much fun swimming with the fishes Sugar! At least you don’t have to wear the fins and snorkel. 🙂
We have missed visiting with you, beautiful Sugar, but know you are enjoying the lovely beach=you live in paradise, sweetie, YAY!!…Thank you for your sweet comments in the last few months while our Mommy has been gone, we have really appreciated them!!…Happy week ahead, precious friend…xoxo…Calle, Halle, Sukki, Mommy Cat, Daddy Cat
Cute pics – looks like fun!
I did snorkeling a few times is awesome all the cute fishes and corals and underwater stuff you can see super 😀 i bet you are a Super Snorkeler
I’ve always wanted to try it!
Sam
So jealous of your beach time! I don’t need fins either but mom says she does when she snorkels or scuba dives.
As you know I like to catch fish now. Wonder if finns would help me with my fishing. But if I was there in Hawaii I think I would love to just walk a long the beach. I have never been to a real beach with the ocean.
Blessings,
Goose
Hi Sugar! Mommy hopes to visit Hawaii Sometime!

Our mommy and daddy enjoyed snorkeling in Maui! Well, until Mommy saw an eel type of fish looking at her and then she nearly walked on water to get the heck out and never went back in. She’s a big chicken of anything snake like anywhere.
I agree, Sugar. You don’t need fins. Are your toes webbed? Mine are. I bet that’s as good as fins!!
I’ve never been to the beach 🙁 Have fun!
You look like a natural to me!
Hey Sugar, I so agree with this post that snorkeling is a must for the Islands. We learned to snorkel in Maui and have loved it. I am so glad you love the water as much as you do! I bet you think it is much better than snow. Thanks for sharing-I can’t wait to read where your favorite spots to snorkel are…I bet there will be some of mine too.

Hey Sugar, Jet here.
Mom knows all about masks, fins and snorkels. She has been a scuba diver since she was 15! We look forward to your future reports!
We would rather play with your ring with you than snorkel in the water, Sugar!
Love ya lots,
Mitch and Molly
What a life! Looks great!
Of course you don’t need fins. You are a Golden and have webbed toes. They work better than any old fins. 🙂
the brown dawgs
I’m not a swimmer so I would prefer to hang out on the beach. I’m sure Duke would love it though
Ohhh Sugar you are FOR SURE livin’ the life!!!
Your posts continue to make me “homesick” Our favorite Maui snorkeling spots are Black Rock and then the beaches in the Kihei area. But hey, you’re in Hawaii–they’re all good right!!!
We were just there in September and loved snorkeling! I didn’t wear fins though… My hubby can hold his breath for ages so he would just dive down and check things out, but I’m a chicken (and actually have a fear of fish touching me!) so I like to just float along the surface and look at the pretty fishys from above! 😛
I totally agree Sugar, you don’t need any finns!! That’s why we have built in doggie-paddles! 😀 My Domeek went to Maui and went snorkeling off the coast, she definitely agrees that you have to do it when on vacation there! She had a ton of fun and saw all kinds of fishies and turtles!
I’ve always wanted to go snorkeling! I hope your Mom had fun
We’ve done some snorkeling before. We were really tired after it! I actually felt the entire room wobble for an entire week because it was my first time to swim really far. It would’ve been nice if I could have brought the dogs with me. I’m sure they would’ve loved treading on the water with the fishies.
Huggies and Cheese,
Haopee
Looks like great fun Sugar. Have a great Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly
Rooo I agree, who needs fins when you have paws! Guess the humans need some help paddling though **Waggy tail*
