I’ve talked about my baths many times.
It’s a process which I really don’t mind since I get to go to the beach.
I enjoy jumping into the water and swim.
There are times when there’s a big wave and lots of water goes into my ears.
I have to do lots of shake shake shake … to get rid of the water.
So after each bath my ears gets cleaned too.
There are two safe tools you can use to clean a dog’s ear, a cotton ball or a swab.
Mom uses swabs to clean my ears.
Recently, I was given a sample of the new Q-tips with Precision Tips.
The Precision Q-tips has a pointed tip but not sharp.
It can get into awkward groves in my ear but it does not hurt me.
Take Note: My mom never uses the swabs to clean the inner parts of my ear canal.
An ear solution is used after cleaning the outer area of my ear.
I give Precision Q-tips 4 Golden Paws. Lots of Golden Thanks for making my ear cleaning easier.

SUGAR
Sugar, you look so pretty and golden after your bath!
I just assumed it was not recommended to use swabs in dog’s ears just like with humans (what are Q-tips actually for then right?). I usually just wiggle around a saturated cotton ball in there. I think the swabs would be more gentle and thorough for the outer parts of the ear. I will try them next time.
Hi Sugar! You are beautifully GOLDEN after your bath!! Love your “shake, shake, shake”!! We don’t particularly like our ears being touched…especially LadyBug…but we put up with it because we don’t want to get “itchies” in there!! Mama has never used Q-tips in there, but we will tell her to give it a try!! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug
Rooo Sugar you sure have clean ears now! *waggy tail*
My mom doesn’t clean my ears, but she does brush me teeth, or at least tries to before I lick off the yummy peanut butter flavored toothpaste. She does clean the cats’ ears once a week. I would not like that stick poked in my ear. Woof!
Hey hey hey Sugar…you make bath time look like so much fun…OMCs Mom cleans my ears with regular Q tips but she is going to buy some of the special ones ASAP.
Hugs your BFFF
Madi
PS we have our post up today about our Golden mail
Awww, do you stay still when mom cleans your ears? I’m glad Chooey doesn’t mind having her ears cleaned.
I love your action shot, by the way.
Huggies and Cheese,
Haopee
That’s an impressive shake-off!!
You are such a good girl, you shake off well, and get your ears cleaned. Awesome job.
My sissy Holly had a bad ear infection years ago and the dogter had to re-locate her eardrum and sew the opening of her ear closed. (Now she just has a little hole on the side of her head for her eardrum). Mom has to clean the little hole often since it isn’t covered by an earflap anymore. Holly loves to get her ears cleaned.
baby is well behaved and jake we have to sit on him to clean his ears and it takes to humans to do it. thanks for the tip on the q tips
Those things are good, despite no ocean bathing
Benny & Lily
You are such a good girl Sugar! We don’t get our ears cleaned but sometimes we groom each others but that usually leads to a smackdown. Aloha Sugar!
You are a good girl!
Mom cleans my ears and i am also well behaved when she is cleaning.

Oh very cool! My dogs actually clean each others’ ears. They vet says they have the cleanest ears he’s ever seen. We say it’s how they share a brain. 😉
My MOM uses a q-tip sometimes (not this new cool one however). Sometimes she just uses a Kleenex. Confession time… I like to eat the Kleenex afterwards if MOM is not watching. I do not mind my ears cleaned. I get a treat sometimes after it.
Blessings,
Goose
Hey Sugar, Jet here.
Love your “go ahead and shake” picture! (that’s what Mom says to us during Spa Day… which was yesterday!) Mom does the same thing!
Love your shakey pic!!
Sophie has on going ear issues and as a result, yes she needs to have her ears cleaned and treated on a regular basis… she’s NOT a fan of this, but puts up with it as best she can.
Yikes no ear cleaning for me and a bath as little as possible. Wow Sugar you are so brave and good. Mind you if I was out on the beach so much I’d proably get more baths. Have a lovely Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Squeaky clean ears are important – with my long floppys and my love of water it is always a project for me to keep them clean and infection free!
We use those same things for our ears, but very carefully! My Mom hate smelly ears, BOL!
Lovies, Miss Mindy
You always have such good information to pass along Sugar. Thanks for sharing this.
Oh, Sugar you are such a good Pups!! I can go either way. Ma sometimes uses a baby wipe and her finger to cleans the flap inner parts of my ear, she uses ear solution for the canal, which I can say ~ NOT a fan!! Even thou Ma warms the solution, I still don’ts like it!
Kisses,
Ruby
I’ve never heard of these! Will have to check out!
Our Lady will use a little tissue if our ears look dirty. With stick up ears it isn’t as big a problem.
The ocean looks great! lee and phod
The brown dawgs get their ears cleaned as part of routine grooming. We do use swabs on their inner ears because a dog’s ear drum is way far in. They are pretty good for cleanings, but I bet you are better Sugar. 🙂
Hi Sugar, yep, I get my ears cleaned too. My Vickie is very careful but because I am in water so much, we have to do it often. I am prone to those silly ear invections too so we have a special wash we use and a new food that has really helped.
Thank you for the information on the QTips. My Vickie is going to get some.
Bert
Neat swabs Sugar! We’ll have to look for those at that store! Leroy gets ear infections a lot so I am always wiping and swabbing his ears. He is not very cooperative and most times I have to sneak him while he’s sleeping!
I never had a dog that I had to clean her ears for before, but at our last vet visit he said I should start cleaning Rita’s ears. Hmmm, did not know it was okay to use a QTip. Seems like an easy way to do it! (If Rita will let me…)
SHE uses baby wipes on us.
XXXOOO Daisy, bella & Roxy
Hey Sugar,
You sure look like you behave well getting your ears cleaned. Especially enough to have a picture taken. WOW.
I’m at that funny puppy stage. Any time anyone tries to clean me or cut my toes, I just try and make them play.
I’m not scared but ‘you’re not getting my paw/ear’ is great fun to play! *wag wag wag*
Hey Sugar–I’m glad you hold so still for your ear-cleaning. My dog is one of the mischievous ones…which makes my job soooooo much more difficult!
Sugar, you got a whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on!
