Lately, we always go for a late afternoon walk and love to watch the sunset.
When the sun goes down it gets DARK, really DARK. My mom always carries a flashlight or uses an app on her iPhone to illuminate the path we are walking.
We live in an area that hardly has a car passing by but its better to be safe.
We also want to alert all the cats that mostly live/roam outdoors.
(They are usually afraid of me, immediately running away).
Over the holidays, I received a gift by Safety Gear, a NITE DAWG leash.
What a perfect present for our night walk.
The NITE DAWG nylon leash has an LED light that illuminates the leash.
We prefer to use the option where the light glows on rather than the blinking one.
Can you see ME? You can definitely see my whitey face …
We have used it many times and the battery is still working.
According to the manufacturer it is easily replaceable
(the battery runs ~ glow mode: 75 hours and flash mode: 100 hours).
There are times on our walk where weather misting occurs, luckily the leash is weather resistant.
There are a few improvements we recommend to the manufacturer …
We wish the length of the leash illuminates longer (not only a third down).
Make it easier to turn on the LED light options. My mom always ask dad for assistance.
The nylon material is soft but a bit slippery.
A softer durable material and wider width might solve this issue.
All in all, the NITE DAWG is handy LED Leash on our late afternoon/evening walk.
Also, it has been very handy on nights I have to go pee and/or just want to go outside.

I’m joining this post to Monday Mischief for being mischievous …
on wanting to go out at night for no reason, Golden SILLY Me!
Many Golden Thanks to Safety Gear for the Nite Dawg Leash.
*Safety Gear provided SGR Nite Dawg Leash as a gift and
SGR was not compensated with this review.*
That is so neat! We are glad to hear that you and Mom are very careful. Have a happy Monday, furriends!
That sure is a COOL looking leash Sugar!!! It goes perfect with your furs!! It is also a great safety invention!! Mama used to walk us alot in the summertime at night…and these would come in very handy. She sometimes gets those glow in the dark necklaces and puts them around our necks so that people can see us! Happy Monday! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug
We’re nite dawg walkers too! That nite dog leash looks pretty cool. We have a pup light that goes around Linus and Stetson’s neck to keep them illuminated in the evening. By the way, does the same company make a nite dawg collar?
OMD, dat is a cool lead! Dat is just perfect furs you walkin’ at night.
Puddles
What a cool product we may have to get those
urban hounds
We considered getting one of these for Abby but haven’t yet. We’ve tried a hunting cap for dad that has a light on it, and a flashlight which seems to work okay.
Hey Sugar, Jet here.
We purchased another company’s night leash. We found that if any pulling occurred, the lighting system broke. The first time, Mom thought she did a tech goof, the second time, she and the gentleman from the store reached the same conclusion.
We LOVE the idea, we think the companies need to work out some of the kinks.
We entered a raffle for one of these last year but didn’t win. Looks pretty neat though. Envious of your Hawaiian sunset walks – every single one we saw last summer was spectacular!!!
That’s cool…want one!!! Have a wonderful “nite-dawg” walk ;o)
Cool product! We do walk at night, but only in our fenced 2 acre back yard – no leashes. Woofs from Jeffie, Rudy, and Rosie!
What a pretty place to walk! MOL Sugar even your nite lite has a golden glow!!
Hugs Madi your BFFF
Cool light you have there Sugar! We don’t walk at night because Leroy’s afraid of zombies:)
Sugar we live out in the country and our little dog just goes out and runs all over the yard. It’s all fenced in for her and it’s big.
But, our daughter lives in the city and has to walk her dogs at night. Thanks for this wonderful idea for a gift. Her birthday is coming up soon and I think I will get this for her!
Happy Walking! 🙂
Hmmmm seems like a good idea…you know if they had used some reflective material for the lead it would have helped too.
Now that’s a really neat idea! A leash that glows! Butt…how do you sneak up on those night creatures without them seeing you coming???
what a great gift, and great for letting people know you are there and for making you look beautiful in the ambient light.
Hey Sugar, that sounds like a really cool collar! Happy Monday!
Beautiful. And yes it’s better to be safe. That is a great product from safety gear. It will let those kittys know you are a coming!
Benny & Lily
Wow, that does look very useful!
Hey Sugar,
We don’t have a glow in the dark leash, but I do have a really handy light that clips to the visor of my hat. Because it gets dark so early all of our weekly walks are at night. I turn the light on as soon as we step out and keep it on until we are home.
When we stop because a car comes, I look directly at Delilah so the car can see her as well.
P.S. it is also very handy when you have to pick up icky deposits as it leaves the hands free. 🙂
Tee Hee Sugar – I love your mischief! Do you just want to go out and check your fancy new leash light at night?! 🙂 It looks awesome! 🙂
Have fun,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Sugar, that is one cool leash! I got the Nite Dawg LED Collar to try and it was pretty cool too! Could you imagine using both together?!? Then you’d really “glow”!
Looks like a pretty good idea. We don’t often find ourselves out after dark, but that would be handy if we did.
Being safe is a good thing and your mom always thinks of you before she does herself. Why do I know this? Because we think of our Little Bit before we think of ourselves. Your mom rocks, but you already know that.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. 🙂
THAT is a super walkin string fur SURE.
Hi Sugar, we have the same leash and I have the exact same complaint. I thought the battery had died down really fast but it doesn’t illuminate as much as you think it would. We bought the collar too but if your dog has any sort of heavy coat it disappears and can’t be seen. We picked up the Nite Ize Spotlit and it works really well with both the Newfie and the dachshunds.
A good thing to help be safe and seen!
Keep Calm & Bark On,
Murphy & Stanley
That’s a cool product!
What a great product!
We used to walk the dogs late at night all the time; not as often in our “old age”, but we do have a large backyard. When the weather improves, will try to get out there more often again.
Hi Sugar, What a great leash light-perfect to keep you safe. I know you keep mom safe though. It was fun reading that you saw Oprah. Boy the weather on Maui has been pretty windy this last weekend-we were watching golf on t.v. Hope you have a golden day today.
Wags, Noreen & Hunter
What a great way to stay safe and sound. After all the sun goes down so soon now. Mom and me are always running in the dark. It not only lets cars see you, Sugar, but they know that there is a Mom there too.
Have a marvelous Monday now.
Best wishes Molly
Gee, If I had that, Maybe Mom or Dad would take me out for a night walk! Thanks for sharing!
Lovies, Miss Mindy
Oh, that is very cool Sugar! I love it! And, I’m sure it’ll keep you safe on your night time walkies too!
Kisses,
Ruby
Wow, it does get dark…I could see the leash, but not your smiley face!!!
~Higgins
What a very cool gadget!
Nice, it looks similar to a collar I won last month, main thing is that we are safe in the dark.
Love that! Thanks for sharing!
That Nite Dawg leash looks really cool, Sugar! We have to walk at night sometimes. I think the dark is a little bit scary…but maybe a neat glowing leash would make me feel a little braver?
That is a “bright” idea. I like it. And yes I could see you.
Blessings,
Goose
That would have been great when I lived in the city and walked at night all the time…I couldn’t do the blinky thing because of Broos epilepsy.
That is a cool leash!
That sounds like a great idea for those of you who live in the country where there are no street lights.
Gosh Miss Sugar, that sure is a neat leashie! I’m sure it makes a nighttime walkie much safer all around. We never go for walkies at nighttime, but Mom always has to hold the flashlight for me when I go out in our yard so I can see where I’m pottying, BOL! We think you and your mom are awfully brave to go for walkies at nighttime, my mom feels all creepy in the darks!
Luvs,
Jackie
What a great idea. We too need something on our night walks…It can get pretty dark and a little glow would help.
That’s a wonderful leash! Yap, I’d prefer it to glow vs. blink too 🙂 I bet the evenings where you are are just delightful for walkies 🙂
Waggin at ya,
Roo
PeeS: Got your email. Thank you so much for the offer of help and a free domain! We may take you up on both 🙂 Will get back to you when we’ve done our research part.
