I Golden Enjoy strolling different towns.
Lahaina is a town in Maui I often visit as its on the way to my favorite beach.
There are days when we watch the sunrise from the Lahaina Harbor and
stroll on Lahaina’s famous Front Street.
Lahaina is located on the West side of Maui, HI.
Lele which means “relentless sun” in Hawaiian language was the ancient name of Lahiana.
The La in Lahaina means “cruel sun” in Hawaiian language which describes the
dry sunny weather in Lahaina.
Now, Lahaina is transformed as the hot spot to visit.
The street is lined with numerous art galleries, shops and restaurants.
One of the newer shop we visited lately was “Life is Good“,
a Maui Island version (click here if you missed my photo in front of the store).
In 2011, Lahaina’s Front Street was awarded as a Great Street.
It is the most visited street as it is often packed with tourists of Maui.
Lahaina town is registered on the National Register of Historic Places.
Truly lots of history behind the old and new structures, like the Pioneer Inn and The Wharf.
In the early 19th century, Lahiana was once the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom.
Lahaina was also a historic whaling village during the whaling boom of the mid-1800’s.
Now, during the winter months, many sail from the Lahaina Harbor for a whale watching tour.
Many have informed us that the channel off the coast of Lahaina is one of the best places in the world to spot humpback whales.
Another famous site that is located in Lahaina, is the Banyan Tree Square.
It is the largest Banyan Tree in the United States.
If you missed our post about the Banyan Tree, click here.
If you plan to visit Maui, HI, don’t miss the opportunity to spend some time at Lahaina’s famous Front Street.

Sugar – I love your tours. My Mom and Aunty D are going to go to Maui later this year. I can’t come… I’ll be playing with all my puppy friends at camp.
Apparently Aunty D has a BIG Birthday this year and they plan to do a lot of partying there.

Our mommy and daddy enjoys visiting Lahaina! And since it’s 31 degrees here right now, our mommy wishes she was there today!

Keep Calm & Bark On,

FANTASTIC pictures.
Another great area! We like variety too! We have lots of different walks to go on and some times we go explore something new too. We feel bad for dogs that go on the same walk day in and day out, although it beats not walking it would get so boring!
Sounds like a great place to visit! Have a super day!
Lovies, Miss Mindy
Wows, that looks just amazin’ Sugar! I always love your walkin’ tours, always something new to see and learn!
Kisses,
Ruby
