As your pet shares a life with you, it just makes sense that you also share the best luxury can offer especially when traveling.
For the past days I was traveling with my family from HI to the mainland. I had to take two plane rides to arrive to my final destination. I was a well behaved dog passenger and got several compliments from the stewardess and passengers. Most of the flight I slept as my mom slept too. When food was served of course I was awake. Mom shared her fruit plate with me and a very sweet stewardess provided an extra banana (of course for ME).
I finally arrived at my final destination …
For couple of days we had to stay in a Westin hotel as we move to our temporary home in the City of Chicago.
Yes, Westin, part of the Starwood Hotels accommodates dogs. I was not the only dog staying in the hotel, I saw about 3 small dogs in the lobby. The photo above was taken from the lobby. I was just hanging out as I watched the guests conduct their business in the lobby. I did get lots of compliments from them. Also, the lobby staff particularly the bell men were very kind and graciously very attentive.
I did not get my own room but Westin have provided me a bed, which is known as Heavenly Dog Bed. The bed was covered in white stripped soft linen with thin piping on the sides. It was soft and very comfortable. I surely had a good night sleep. Westin also provided me two stainless steel bowls and a mat. How about some treats? Well, I invite you to check back tomorrow, Tasty Tuesday and found out what they offer to their guests.
As I mentioned, Westin hotels are part of Starwood Hotels, which accommodate dogs.
If you plan to travel with your dog, you’ll find Starwood Hotels in various cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, Florida, etc. Just make sure when you book your reservation mention you are bringing your dog. There’s no additional fee, just have to sign a waiver.

Hi Sugar! We can’t believe you’re back in the mainland. We will miss your many romps in the ocean. Hope you get lots of rest and find some great hiking places soon. Happy Monday xoxo
WOW! Hotels here sure will not allow dogs at hotels. Only certain smaller chalets allow dogs. You sure travel in style.. and living the good life in Westin 🙂 Be safe ya. With your sweet face… everyone will give you a treat!
I am glad everyone was so nice to yo. Are you moving back to the states or just visiting?

Although I don’t travel, I can imagine what a relief it must be to find a motel/hotel site that is animal-friendly. 🙂
Glad to hear that you had a safe Sugar! We have stayed at Westin hotels before with the dogs and have been very happy with their accommodations!
Have fun playing in that snow!
We’re glad you are being treated like the star you are Sugar! Are you going back to Maui or are you staying in Chicago? We’re confused but we’re glad you and your mom are safe and doing well!
We have the same question! We need to keep the hotel in mind when we travel with the boys.
Sam
I had no idea you could fly in the plane with your family, that is wonderful and what a great place to stay. i have been following you without commenting. taking a few days off, but i have read every day just not comementing
I take it you didn’t have to ride with the baggage on the plane. Did you get your own seat? I like staying in hotels. None have ever been as nice as the Westin sounds though!
-Mister
You are back in Chicago????? Are you going to go back to HI or are you staying on the Mainland???
Glad that the plane and the Hotel are treating you LIKE THE SPECIAL ONE that You ARE!!
Wow, lucky girl, what posh accommodations. Too bad you’re not in Hawaii anymore, but that hotel looks wonderful.
Now that is how it should be – tread like royalty – we will keep those hotels in mind for the future!
Oh that sounds great Sugar. I never thought so much people are so nice to dogs. Sometimes the world is nearly perfect ;o)
WOW!! I’ll be sure to tell Momma about Westin’s dog-friendly policies so she can support them. That’s just grreat.
How did you fly on the plane? Did you have to go into the skeery cargo hold? I’ve never flown before!
Oh boy Sugar that was some journey. Good to know about the Starwood hotels
Snorts,
Benny & Lily
Hey Sugar, Welcome to Chicago…it’s my kind of town! Hope you love it too.
I love it that so many places now accept our beloved babies. It makes travel easier for all of us but especially our Little Bit. Looks like you had a fabulous experience at the Westin. Excellent.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. My best to your mom. ☺
Good to know you are being treated so well. Probably work has gotten around that you are friends with Oprah and it has opened doors for you. Did you get to fly first class? Was it on a private jet? Did Oprah fly you on her jet? Is this going to be on Entertainment Tonight? Are you going to meet the president? OK, I am just getting carried away now, sorry.

Two Cool Doods
Sugar, that’s a long way to travel…from Hawaii to Chicago! Holy dog and Chicago is COLD! I bet you were the most well behaved doggie anyone has ever seen. You had lovely accommodations at the hotel…how was the bed?!? Soft? Comfy?
I’m so impressed that you got to ride IN the plane and not stuck in the cargo hold. I bet that was fun and knowing you got lots of attention made it even more special. You’ve become quite the traveller, Sugar!
Is it because you’re so special that you got to ride on the plane with The Mom? Wow, that’s fantastic! None of the pack will get on a plane due to the whole cargo hold thing – scares me. ‘
Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures as you get settled!
Sugar! How exciting! I’m so glad Westin is treating you well! I knew Westin accommodated dogs, but… a Heavenly bed too! Lucky dog! Hope you have fun!!!
WOWZERS! A Heavenly Bed????? I’m gonna ask my pawrents if we can go to a Westin Hotel next time we travel! I surely would love that kind of service! Thanks for sharing!
Lovies, Miss Mindy
Welcome home, Sugar! or is it temporary. Not sure, but I am sure you have a very charmed life going for yourself.
Hi Sugar, Glad you all arrived safely back on the Mainland. What a wonderful adventure you’ve had-first your time in the islands and then being able to be in the cabin area of the plane as well as stay in a first class hotel like the Westin-I had no idea they allowed dogs in their hotels(thanks for the info). I wanted to ask if you were allowed in the cabin because you have a special certification? I wonder if you’ll love being home and in the snow as much as in the waves. Happy Paws to you today.
Noreen & Hunter
Sugar did you have a regular seat on the plane? What a dumb question, of course you did! How cool! Ohhh you are going to miss HI when you feel the cold!
I think the hotel for BlogPaws is a Starwood Hotel too…..must be why BlogPaws is having the conference again in Virginia!
We hope you are having a lovely time on the mainland Sugar. The hotel looks pawsome. Enjoy. Have a marvelous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Awww… Miss Sugar ♥
You are as beautiful as ever :o)
Cannot wait to see you in the fur again!
Smooches,
Neeko ♥
Glad you’re having such a good experience, Sugar! I hope the cold weather wasn’t too much of a shcock for after being in Hawaii…but then you are wearing the most beautiful fur coat!
Chicago! We wouldn’t have guessed that. We have a few hotels in Sydney that welcome dogs. But, alas…we’ve never been.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
You DO know how to travel in style.
Oh, that is so cool Sugar! Of course everybody was complementing YOU!! Your a star, in more ways than one.

You are only lucky girl Sugs!
Looks like you got to stay in style! I’ve stayed at a Westin before and really liked it but now we’ll have to put it on our list of dog friendly places.
Wow Sugar, travel in style! That’s nice. Thank you for sharing about the Westin Hotels. We don’t travel alot but mom will keep this in mind for when we do.
Are you guys moving back to the mainland? Oh and if I don’t talk to you later this week, please tell your mom Happy Chinese New Year!
June and mom
You’re so well-behaved, Sugar. Did you get the fly in the cabin on the airplane? I thought only dogs small enough to fit under the seat could ride in the cabin! Lucky you!
Looks you had a good travel time, we will miss your Hawain adventures but I bet you have lots of other cool stuff right around the corner
urban hounds
Sweet/suite Sugar (Momz is being punny today)…Iz stayed in hotels but dey never gave me a special bed…Momz wants to know how you got to fly in the cabin…she thought it was only tiny dogs that got to do that…Looking forward to reading about your Chicago adventures
So did you guys move back for good?
Stop on by for a visit
Kari
Wow! Lap of luxury!
Nola
Wait! Are you leaving Hawaii forever?
That’s good to know Sugar! When I travelled with Gracie to Indianapolis we were hoping to stay at a Marriott since a family member worked for them and would get us discount but they wanted $100.00 non refundable deposit! We ended up staying at the Drury Inn, another animal friendly hotel were dogs stay for free!
How did you get to ride in the cabin? I did when I was 9 weeks old but then I had to ride in cargo and it was scary! Now you are living pretty close to me…in the windy city…just an 8 hr car ride away! Enjoy your new home!
It is great to know that there are some great hotels that will accommodate dogs. Sounds like a great trip. Lee and Phod
Wow – never knew the Westin not only allows dogs but welcomes them too ! That’s doggone friendly of them. But with a face and disposition like yours, who wouldn’t be friendly ?
That does sound heavenly! I will look into Westin the next time we travel. Don’t go to Marriott. They do not believe in doggie service.
Hey Sugar,
I’m gonna miss your Hawaii updates, but I was wondering when you were coming back – I’m really curious to know how you got to sit with your Mum on the plane, how cool, my Mum says I could go on if only I can sit with her, none of the cargo thing…..
As for the hotel, it’s so cool to find out about new hotels that we can stay in – yay!! Thanks for sharing,
Have fun and stay warm,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
That is pretty fancy, Sugar. You deserve the best service at the finest hotel! Enjoy!
Wyatt and Stanzie
Sugar, we’re just tickled that you’re only a 1/2 plane flight from where we live. That was a very long plane flight from Hawaii to Chicago. Mama is very proud you were such a good girl, but she’s not surprised. Spring is a very exciting time for those of us in the Midwest, becomes sometimes it seems it’ll never arrive. It should start to warm up staring in April, but it can take longer. We can have snow even at the end of April! Welcome to the Midwest. Purrs from Ateret, Livia and Abbi.
That’s so cool Sugar!
BRRRRRRR…from the warm sandy beaches of Hawaii to snowy cold Chicago! Bet that was a shock to the system. But you’ll be hap-pee as long as you’re with your family. I know you’ll miss those lavender baths though!
