Many car manufacturers know there are many dog lovers. Nowadays, they build and designed vehicles with dogs in mind. According to AAA about 80% of dog lovers take their dogs on the road with them. Many dogs typically enjoy car rides. I do!
There are many cars in the market. Lots of choices and to make it simpler to decide on a car that fits your needs and your dog. It’s a plus if your car dealership is dog friendly.
With all the rain and mud mom’s car needed a car wash.
Of course, I went with her and off we go to the dealership, Field’s Group in Northfield IL.
Why? It’s free car wash. It’s not my first time to be here but we were gone for a year and just have to say Lots of Golden Hello’s to many people we’ve missed.
So while the car was getting washed, our first on the list was to visit our car saleslady for 15 years (imagine mom knew her before she got me). She was so happy to see us especially ME. We hung-out and chit-chat at the Cafe Lounge. Did you know that this dealership has an in-house chef. The chef cooks breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks for its customers? No doggie cookies but perfectly fine as the chef always serve fresh fruits at the lounge, apples and/or banana.
Oh I do enjoy fruits.
The lounge has very comfy leather seats. To keep you occupied, there’s a wi-fi and a big screen tv but it seems to be stuck in golf channel. Adjacent to it is a playroom and a retail area. Customer Service is very important to this dealership.
They go above and beyond the norm. They have such wonderful people and always makes us (ME) feel like the most important customers at the dealership.
Is your car dealership dog-friendly? If it is, here are some tips to remember …
1) Make sure your dog is on a leash? Use an appropriate leash.
A retractable is not recommended.
2) Be mindful of other customers.
Some customers might not be fond of dogs 🙁 and/or allergic to dogs.
3) Be respectful of the showroom cars on display.
Make sure not to take your dog inside the cars on displays.
4) Make sure to be aware of your dogs behavior at all times.
For example: if your dog barks (excessively).
5) Be kind and don’t forget to Thank everyone.
Lots of Golden L♥VE n Woofs
SUGAR
I may be driving to Illinois for my next vehicle. What a wonderful dealership and, as always, your tips are always helpful and well thought out.
Well I think your dealership sounds pretty amazing! Especially having a personal chef – sounds like you were a satisfied customer to me!
I never would have guessed you were at a car dealership in that photo, Sugar! And I think a whole lot of car dealerships could learn a lot from yours! Woofs from Jeffie, Rudy and Rosie.
Sounds like an outstanding car dealership. I never saw any like that around our area!
Sounds like a fun way to spend an afternoon. 🙂
I’ll bet you don’t even have to negotiate when it’s time for a new car. Just let Sugar lay her head on the saleslady’s lap and she would HAVE to give you the best possible deal!
We have a local dealership that was keeping a manicurist on staff for free manicures while having your car serviced. I don’t know if they are still doing that though, we’ve never bought a car there 🙂
What a wonderful car place. I don’t think we have heard of one so friendly and accommodating. I hope you got a piece of fruit.
Blessings,
Goose
What a fancy dealership that is Sugar…Too bad they didn’t have bananas that day so you could do your balance trick for everyone…Momz has taken me to the dealership when we got the oil changed and the people there were very nice to me…I did go through the carwash with her once and that was OK till the big dryer blowers started up…They were kind of loud for me…Happy EArth Day!
Wow, nice dealership experience!! Wish they were all like that!! My last car buying adventure was not good at all but worked out in the end but it was before Max, I’ll for sure bring him next time!!
Happy Monday Sugar, Wow what a wonderful dealership you’ve got there! Since we’ve been looking for a new car, we found one that had a retro 50’s soda fountain but that has been about the nicest. I never thought about taking Hunter along. Of course, I know this is bad, but generally he rides on my lap; I did look for a harness but the stores here aren’t carrying them anymore. I think if we went on really long road trips with him, we’d definitely get one. Hope you are having spring weather; it is nice here today but supposed to snow later and tomorrow. I’m ready to head to Northern Calif. and enjoy their 80 degree weather.
Sounds like a nice visit. Our Honda dealer is dog friendly. Thanks for the tips
Benny & Lily
That’s a fun day out. You should help mom pick a new car. Hee-hee
you know what? I am going to have to find out. I have no idea if they even allow dogs at my dealership! Thanks for the info!
Wow, that’s amazing, what a fantastic car dealership… It’s where I would go for my next car.
Maggie
You must have the bestest car dealer ever, Sugar. Think we should buy our next car there… a in-house chef sounds great!
I’d be happy if our car dealerships down here were even half as nice! Before GM went crazy shutting down all the smaller dealerships down here, we had a really nice one — the people were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They didn’t have all those niceties you mentioned, but they had comfortable chairs and couches for us humans.
Our dealership is dog friendly. Sometimes we go there with mom and hang out waiting for our car. Ours has work cubicles, wifi, a big tv, food and drinks so it is ok. I am perplexed by your second point, though…are there really people that don’t like dogs??? Can’t imagine anyone resisting our cuteness 🙂
Hey Sugar,
I love your tips for visiting the car dealership – I’d also add – no peeing on the tires, but I think that’s a boy thing – not that I do it of course!
Yours sounds like a fun place to go, especially to see the chef! 🙂
Wags to all,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Your car dealership sounds like the bombdiggity!! I will have to try out ours next time mom is int he car buying mood!!
~Higgins
That is one fancy car dealership! Our dealership doesn’t let dogs inside, they have no snacks, and no free car wash! Plus the mechanics always make a mess in The Mom’s car! She is shopping for a new car now – we can’t go to your dealership, but we’ll look for one like it!!!
You would not get that over here. You’d be lucky if you got a glass of water and forget us dogs. We are not that dog friendly shop wise across the pond .Have a marvelous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
That looks like lots of waiting for you. Very patient, Sugar!
I’ve never taken my dogs to the dealership, but I definitely measured the cars to see how my crates would fit.
How lucky for you to have such a nice place to visit while car is being washed!
Maybe next time they will remember their 4 legged customers and have some biscuits on hand!
WOOF WOOF Sugar!
Sugar – you’re lucky your mom takes you so many cool places. I’m not very well-behaved YET – we’re working on it and hopefully I’ll get to go with mom too!
That is so so great that your dealership is so pet friendly! We;ve been to a few that have been more than kind to us and our dogs!
That’s a pretty amazing place. We’re pretty sure none of the dealerships here do anything like that. Mom gets excited about the free bottled water and car wash when she takes her car for service. Happy Earth Day, Sugar. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
What a great place! I want to visit that car dealership.
Y’know, it would never occur to me to take my dog to the car dealership. Very cool, Sugar. Very cool.
We’ve never been. Dad takes the car to the one near work, since the original one closed. It would be nice to be able to visit though.
I don’t know if our car dealer is dog friendly or not and I’ve never seen any dogs around. I have noticed that dogs are far more welcome in places than they used to be.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. My best to your mom. 🙂
That’s an awesome dealership you have there, I’m pretty sure none of ours here in Wichita are like that!
We’ve never tried to take our boys to the dealership. Maybe we should try? ;D
Sam
That looks like a nice place to visit. Makes waiting for your car not such a chore.
Now that is one dealership that goes ABOVE & BEYOND for it’s customers! If we had one like that in our area, we’d be customers for life. Sadly, our dealerships are NOT dog friendly…
Wow, I thought the dealership that I went to was nice but no food there. I have no idea if they are pet friendly or not
That’s so cool that your car dealership is dog friendly! We haven’t really ever thought of taking our dogs to the dealership.
What a FABulous place Sugar!!! Wows, an in-house chef, huh?! Are they hiring?? BOL
Kisses,
Ruby
What a great sounding dealership! It will be a couple of years before we get a new car, so guess I will have to wait to find out about this.
Lovies, Miss Mindy
Fun! Subaru let our humane society hold a “Photos with Santa” event at their facility last year. Maya & Pierson didn’t get to go because they are too rowdy around other dogs. But I got to help out for a while and meet lots of great dogs. 🙂
Wow Sugar you sure get to go to lots of fun places! Hope you come to Portage Park someday! Love Dolly
That’s a very fancy car dealership but we’re glad they let dogs in since we know they need to be comfortable in cars too! We don’t like to ride in cars since for us it means we’re going to the v-e-t.
That’s awesome! We haven’t heard about any of our dealerships being dog friendly…yet!
And here I thought that the dealership for my car had expresso, latte, etc., and small sandwiches, fruit and drinks. But a chef especially for the customers. Ruff! And a free car wash. Ruff, Ruff.
They allow dogs in the showroom and service area.
That is awesome, Sugar!! We think that all the car dealerships in Portland, Oregon must be ‘Dog Friendly’ or they would be out of business…this is a DOG TOWN!! But, I don’t think that we have any special chefs making 3 meals a day…now that is something!
Wyatt’s mom
Gosh, I never would have thought to bring the dog along. Looks like a fun outing, Sugar!
We never got to go to the dealership. Maybe next car! lee and phod
That sounds like a cool dealership!
Wow what a cool place to visit!
I’d like my dealership to be dog friendly so I can see if my dogs like the car! Or fit in the car. My last car I bought I thought it would be okay, but it’s too small. 🙁
We go to a dealership sometimes for service and it is very dog friendly. One day we were chatting and one of the service advisers and his family adopted a dog from the rescue who helped save our Bill’s leg in North Carolina!
I went to a big pet event in Tampa Bay and I love checking out all the vendors. I was surprised to see a Honda car dealership represented and I just had to see what was up with that. They have weekend pet adoptions at the dealership! The representative told me they often sell a car and the buyer goes home with a new pet, too. It’s very successful!
That dealership sounds pawsome. Mommy reports the place they got her car from did serve coffee.
