It happens every Spring when the grass comes alive and I’m finding unusual stuff on the ground. Well, I have a great excuse this year. I did not have a chance to experience Spring last year as I lived in HI, where it’s summer weather at all time. I’m just super Golden happy and excited to be home. I did miss my backyard and been busy scouting my yard for my Furry Friend, FRED. In my search for Fred, I end up finding these little round pellets from my other backyard friend that hops around my yard. As I sniff the little round pellets it looks just like my kibble, I can’t help but to eat it along with some green grass. I did not eat a lot and/or indulge in them but I have a very sensitive stomach. Did I have some regrets? Absolutely! Digestive Regrets!
For the past weeks, we read many articles and blog posts about other dogs having issues with bunny poops in their backyard. What is with the bunny poops that fascinates dogs to eat it? Based on our readings, dogs don’t think it’s poop. Well, as I said it looks like my food kibbles.
Smell and taste of bunny poops are intriguing to dogs. Why?
A bunny eats leaves, twigs and barks which contains some protein and flavor.
It surely disgusts my mom and at the same time very worried that will cause me to have Coccidiosis, intestinal parasites. So it is important for your vet to check your dog’s stool couple of times in a year. For days I’ve been banned from my backyard as mom did a bunny poop patrol and our gardener Mark apply some nutrients on our yard. This weekend, I was allowed back to be in my backyard with supervision. I am Golden Happy to report that I am finally mending from my digestive regrets.
My backyard bunny is a seasonal friend and it’s no longer visiting my yard. I made a Golden Promise to mom that I’ll be a good dog in the backyard … will occupy most of my time searching for My Furry Friend. Now that the bunny is gone, I hope to see Fred soon. With my good behavior this weekend, mom surprised me with a delish tasty treat. I invite you to check my post tomorrow, Tasty Tuesday. I was in Golden Awww on what she made me.
From my previous backyard behavior, I am joining this post to Monday Mischief.
Lots of Golden L♥VE n Woofs
SUGAR
* Exciting News *
My mom’s book Sugar’s Furry Friend will be available soon as an e-book (Kindle, iBooks, Nook).
She is just finalizing the conversion and hoping to be available very soon (hopefully next week).
I’d probably be right there with you, Sugar, although I’ve never tasted bunny poop. I’m really glad you are over your digestive indiscretion! I wonder whether rolling in it would have been better?
Wow! I didn’t know rabbit pellets upset doggy bellies! Poor Sugar! I’m glad you’re on the mend!
My neighbors have two feral rabbits that live on their property; I’ll have to keep a watch out once I plant my garden to make sure they don’t come around.
Ooh, I see to the right that Fred is a chipmunk! How neat! We have squirrels at our place! The dogs looooove them.

I am glad you are feeling better. I am one of those dogs who has no interest in poop. Poop of any kind, even bunny poop. Believe me on my adventures I have seen and sniffed a lot of poop and I just leave it be. But I can see how we dogs could mistake some poop as kibble. I will be back tomorrow for a tasty treat. I know it will be a good one, they always are. And my MOM just loves trying to make them for me. {whispers} some times they don’t look as good as the ones your mom makes. But they still taste good.
Blessings,
Goose
Aww, that’s not mischevious, Sugar. We’re glad you’re feeling better and we’ll see you tomorrow! Have a great day. XOXO
We usually eat stuff first and question later. So far, we’ve been okay.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Those bunny poos sure can be tempting sugar…Momz is very strict about me not snacking on them…Glad you’re feeling better furriend and I hope Fred comes to visit you soon Happy MM!
Oh, I had some of those nasty parasites. Glad you are feeling better, but I completely understand your fascination withe the poopes. I see lots of it at the park but now not so much since my dad keeps me on the path more and doesn’t let me walk in the woods all that often.
This bunny-bonbons are yummy but they have bad after- and side effects. Also the lamb-pralines I ate last year. I had a lindworm inside me and I needed pill from the vet. Think it’s better to eat a Greenie :o) Have a golden Monday, Sugar.
Congrats on the new ebook version! We like bunny poop, too, Sugar. Woofs from Jeffie, Rudy and Rosie
We have a bunny friend too.
Sorry about your tummy problems.
Garden variety kibble aka bunny poop doesn’t sound like it would be good for the tummy…even though it might be tasty. Feel better sugar..tummy upsets are no fun
Sorry Sugar for your upset tummy. That is very uncomfortable. At least the bunny is seasonal there – our bunnies are around all summer and fall too.
Oh Sugar we are so sorry you had tummy distress. That must be very uncomfortable. Thank Mr. Mark for us because we know you missed your yard. Holey Moley I had no idea bunny poop was appealing to pups but I can see that it looks just like kibble
Hugs madi your BFFF
Oh yes, Bunny poop. We have that around here too this time of the year. Glad to hear all the poop is gone and you can go back and enjoy your yard!
so glad you are feelig better and you certainly did not hurt your looks any with your backyard adventure
Oh, poor Sugar! That was definitely some bunny mischief happening in your back yard!
We have lots of bunnies in our yard, too. My assistant is keeping a close eye on me so I don’t eat any of the dropppings.I hope you feel better soon.
Your pal, Pip
Bunny poops are magical thingys fur sure.. BUTT I (Frankie Furter) once ate too much and got WORMS. I had to go to the Dogtor and get a SPECIAL pill fur getting rid of the worms. I do it in MODERATION now… Glad that YOUR digestive issues are all better now, my furend.
I am glad you feel better. We find bunny poop when we are out and about too.
I have TONS of rabbit’s (and rabbit poop) in my yard… I can’t walk outside without seeing at LEAST one rabbit. Thankfully, Shiner doesn’t eat the poop. The only ones I see are usually all dried up and kind of just blend in with the grass and dirt.
Opps, I ate some poops. Sorry Mom. I hope that no unwanted intestinal critters show up. Boy, it is hard to keep our pets safe from everything.
I ate some bunny poop yesterday hehehehe
Hey Sugar,
Glad you’re on the mend! 🙂 Too much of a good thing never is good, hey?!
Good luck with finding Fred,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
My sister and I enjoy indulging in wabbit pellets too. They have not made us sick, but we haven’t eaten that many of them. The wabbits aren’t in “our” part of the yard much because I have claimed it and they know I kill wabbits. What mom finds even worse is sheep poo and us dogs love it. In Germany that was a big issue when we walked along the Northsea dikes where the sheep roamed freely. Rolling in it is the absolute best but when I did that, mom almost threw up as it is really disgusting and smelly. We are just dogs being dogs and we are thankful we get to do that but sometimes I guess there needs to be limits!
Well stink. We’re actually getting a bunny this afternoon, but he’s been an indoor bunny his entire life. I wasn’t sure how the dogs would react to the poops. I know they love cat “tootsie rolls” and duck poop, with no adverse effect. Stink stink stink.
We’re all so happy you feel better, Sugar!! It’s no fun having “digestive regrets”! We don’t have any bunny friends, and all our squirrel friends run away when we play chase with them. Mom says it’s because they think we want to hurt them like the neighbors’ cats do. All we want to do is play. Mom is eagerly awaiting your tasty treat blog post tomorrow…So are we!
I got super sick last week! It was to because of our backyard friends though. It was actually a treat that my mama gave me that might have been sitting in the fridge for a LITTLE too long. Well, she learned it the hard way. No more weird treats for me!
Good info we don’t have bunnies but bob and ping love goose poo also supergross weasley will eat the other dogs poo if unsupervised. We check for parasites regularly

Oh Sugar…sounds like our Maggie from last weekend, although I’m not sure it started with rabbit poop…although we have plenty of that in our yard. Glad you are on the mend.
I hate to admit this but I’m glad the bunny is gone. Too risky and mom doesn’t care for that risk. I sure wish Fred would show up though. I know what good friends you are.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. My best to your mom. 🙂
Glad you are feeling a bit better Sugar! Charley’s been munching on some spring delicacies himself and we are working on him stopping. Grosses his Momma out too!
The bunnies in our yard are definitely not seasonal. In winter, we’d find bunny poo right on top of the snow. There is no way to keep Maya & Pierson from eating it. The eat it on purpose, too. So what did your gardener do to drive out the bunnies?
Oh no Sugar!! We are hoping that you are feeling better! Thank you for this warning! This morning when Daddy took me out to the bathroom, there was a big brown bunny that just sat there! He never tried to hop away! Mom will tell Daddy to be on the lookout for bunny poop thanks to your warning!
Barks and licks and love, Dakota
Oh no Sugar… Tut would join you in searching for those magic pellets if he could… he loves all stinky pellets too.
Bunny poop doesn’t seem to distress my guys. Corgis do tend to have cast iron stomachs! Our bunnies are a pretty much year round “friend”, but we see more when the grass thickens in the spring as well as the clover. They love the clover!
I wish I could say that the collies never indulge in digestive treats that would best be avoided…but they do, and they also get GI upset as a result. Some pups just never learn! It’s a good thing that your bunny friend has moved on…
I know Sugar. They look so edible. Just like doggie treats.
LOL Sugar I use to eat geese and duck poops when I was little. Peeps was so grossed out. They just don’t get it pal. Have a marvellous mischief poop Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Hope you feel better soon Sugar. Sometimes it’s hard to realize that poop is yucky, no matter what butt it comes from! 🙂
I don’t think we have any bunnies in our yard which is a good thing, since I know someone who’d be very interested in eating them. 🙂
Glad you are feeling better~
Oh dear, Sugar. There was some tummy upset mischief in our house this weekend too but it would not have made as cute of a story since it involved cat litter licking… Keep feeling better so you can be well when you see Fred again!
You aren’t in Hawaii anymore? Mama doesn’t know if I eat bunny poop but I’m glad you are better! -I do like cat poop!
Our doggie, loves bunny poop too and kitty poop also. They used to like goat poop. Guess that darn poop is really yummy.
Take care.
Those teeny pellets are tasty. What really hurt my Lilys belly was goose poop
Benny & Lily
Oh Sugar, I’m sorry your tummy was feelin’ lousy gurl! I too have issues with eatin’ stuffs I’m not suppose to, and gets the puddin’! BOL
I’ve never tasted the bunny poops thou…they do sound intriguing!
Kisses,
Ruby
Yep! I use to eat bunny poops too! TASTY! Know what I had yesterday? A dried up worm! Just a little extra added protein to my diet! BOL!
Lovies, Miss Mindy
Hi Sugar, You and Hunter sound so very much alike. I used to put alfalfa on roses and other plants(we didn’t have bunnies in the yard in Ca.)but there is no way I’m going to lure them into our yard. I didn’t realize that you could get parasites from bunny poop. I also worry about birdie poop because it can cause giardhea-which we have here all the time. I haven’t seen any poops lately so maybe he found a good garden to raid. We will be putting up boards along the bottom of the fence to keep him out and other noses from trying to visit Hunter.
Hope you stay healthy and enjoy some sunshine.
Wags, Noreen & Hunter
Isn’t it funny how the oddest things appeal to the pups?
Sam
We are sorry for your upset tummy,Sugar but so glad it is better. We too are very interested in those pellets. Mom sure wishes she could find a surefire way to keep those rabbits out of the yard. It isn’t easy trying to find those pellets when the grass is so high from all the rain and the mowers are a couple of weeks behind schedule. Mom is almost ready to go buy a new lawnmower and do it herself.
Woos – Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Sorry you were sickly but we’re glad you’re on the mend!
We’ve never seen a bunny so have no idea what its poops are like. We’re glad you’re feeling better and hope Fred comes back soon!
Oh, eating bunny poop is definitely mischievous! We have bunnies that go crazy with the poopin’ in the fields we use at the shelter where I volunteer. Almost all the dogs LOVE to eat the bunnies poops. Luckily at home we don’t have any bunnies in our yard, so no poops for Rita.
Hope you are feeling all better!
We sometimes find bunny poops in our yard too. They sure are tasty.
Sadly, poop is a favorite around here…drats! I hope you are feeling 100% soon, Sugar. Can’t wait to see what your mom cooked up. It’s always good.
So glad your tummy is better. Rabbit poop is nummy my dogs say. So I’m new to learning about you, did you start out in HI or did you go there and have to go into quarantine for 6 months? Have a great day, oh and your pictures are just lovely.
Sassy the cat here!
Sugar, you gotta watch what you eat! I should talk, I spent part of the morning licking sour cream off my paw; not really sure if I liked the taste. Glad you are feeling better. It’s no fun when our furry friends are sick.
Sorry to hear you were under the weather! We get bunnies in our yard, too. Riley gobbles their poop up like it’s fine caviar! Yuck. She must have an iron stomach though, because it doesn’t make her sick.
Hope Fred returns soon! 🙂
So glad you are feeling better, our mom is grossed out by are goose poo eating and she is sure we would love rabbit poo if we could get some. Dogs and humans just dont have the same tastes I guess
