I Golden Love a good soothing bath. Last year, I shared many of my outdoor baths using different products I enjoyed. The people from Vitacost must have read my posts as they send me Fur Butter Deep Conditioner Treatment, product made by Happy Tails Spa.
Outdoor bath is not optimal due to the odd weather we are having. I needed to get groomed too so I went to the groomers. Mom brought the special conditioner Fur Butter and asked Tom (my groomer) to use it after I get shampooed.
My Golden Fur got Buttered-Up. Mom wanted to take photos of me while getting a bath but it will cause a disturbance to the the other clients (dogs). Tom followed the instruction on the container. Basically, after I got shampooed/rinsed, Tom applied my Golden Fur with Fur Butter. He said it smelled good. It did not lather as it is a conditioner. I was not bothered when he applied it on my fur. Fur Butter ‘s 2 main ingredients are Shea Butter and Oatmeal.
It was Pawfect as I have some dryness on my skin.
Do you apply conditioner on your dog’s fur?
Shampoo get rids of dirt from the skin and coat. Did you know that after shampooing it leaves the fur(hair) shaft open where residue can enter and oils escape. It is important to seal it by applying a conditioner which will close the fur (hair) cuticle and it will restore moisture and gives a shiny appearance.
I wish you can smell me as I smell like Rosemary Peppermint, the scents in the Fur Butter. I wish you can feel my fur too as it is super soft.
Can you see my Golden Fur is shiny too.
I give Fur Butter 4 Golden Paws Up.

WE wish we could smell you, too. You look beautiful and shiny since your bath. Great post! Have a happy Caturday!
You are talking like a true Cosmetologist Sugar! Good for you 😉 I bet you feel super soft and smell great!
We might see if SHE’ll put REAL butter on us….then we can lick it off.

Ooooh… sounds like you smell really good, Sugar!
MMM believe it or not I made rosemary peppermint (+vanilla) bath salts to give to family and friends. It smelled amazing so I can just imagine how nice it is for you. Nice aromatherapy for your bath too. Toby’s fur is short so I don’t know how much benefit he would get from conditioner but we found the best shampoo when he was a puppy.
That sounds like a great product for us goldens, bet it smells delish!! Happy Saturday!!
Sounds like a wonderful product. I love a good smelling pup…soft is nice too.
Never heard of fur butter Sugar but it sounds great. Have a super Saturday.
Best wishes Molly
That sounds good – did you know that dogs who have grain allergies in their food are also often irritated my oatmeal in shampoos – even though it is one of most common ingredients in ‘soothing’ shampoos.
Sugar now the secret to your Golden fluffy furs is out
Sniff sniff I smell your sweetness in NC
Hugs
Madi your bfff
I pressed my nose on the screen and I could smell your fabulous Fur Butter. Is the taste as good as the smell? Have a golden saturday!
Mom uses shampoo and conditioner on US. Butt not THIS kind… WOW you really ARE shiny.
I’ve never heard of fur butter before, that’s interesting. I bet you smell and look just wonderful!
My, so fancy. I hate baths and smelling all clean! If mom can give me a bath, shampoo is about the most she can hope for as I fight like an alligator during a bath. I love to swim but don’t like a bath. My sister would probably like something like that and the nice smell, she is the fancier one. So does your fur feel a lot silkier too? Happy Saturday!
Our groomer does this. Little Bit likes it too.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. My best to your mom. 🙂
I never thought about the benefits of a conditioner for dogs before. We use a conditioner when we go to the dog wash place, but not when I give a bath at home. I will have to look into this stuff. Is it tempting to taste it?
We will just have to use our imagination on how good you smell and we bet your furs are so silky soft too.
Sugar, you always look pretty, but today you are glowing!
Wish I could sniff you too 😀

I’m so glad you liked your Fur Butter Sugar…Momz has a jar here now and we’re going to use it after my next bath (tomorrow I think ) Hope I feel as nice and smell as nice as you do
Rosemary peppermint sounds/smells delish. Moms use a conditioner, but it’s only for my dry skin. She Needs to change it!
Sugar you do look very pretty and shiny!
oh I bet you smell real pretty
Hi Sugar,,,Wow,,,I swear, I can just about smell you,,,and you smell as pretty as you look ! Have a great week-end, Golden Girl.
I didn’t know you should apply conditioner to a dog after shampooing them. We don’t shampoo our dogs very often as they often take “snow baths” in the Winter, and are in their pool a lot in the Summer. It might be a good idea to use conditioner on them after doing those things though! I wish I could smell you, Sugar, because that scent sounds absolutely lovely!
I bet you smell amazing, Sugar! We’ve never used conditioner before, but the wieners have smooth/short hair and I’m not sure how beneficial it would be for them. Never know, though. It might be good for their skin and make them extra shiny.
I don’t normally apply conditioner to my guys. Hey, sometimes it’s hard enough giving Delilah a bath! 🙂 I bet you smell wonderful Sugar.
I use a thick, cream conditioner that has to be heated & mixed with water on Vlad & Barkly because one of the vets went over with us about how it is best to help replenish the skin oils after bathing–so that when I apply their flea-treatment a couple of days later:
1. it has a barrier between the skin and the treatment to help prevent absorption by the dog’s body, and
2. since the treatments are designed to use skin oils to travel across their bodies to provide whole-body protection, the conditioner makes sure it can.
The cream rinse I use looks a lot like this Fur butter before I mix it, but I’m not really happy with the scent. I think I’ll try the Fur Butter next time!
Thank you for the review!!!
Thanks for sharing! I’m totally new to dog washing, and you’ve got some great tips.
I’m curious (since you seem like an expert!):Have you had any luck with those shampoos made especially for black dogs? I know it wouldn’t work for your gorgeous Goldens, but I thought was worth asking.
Anyway, I just subscribed to your blog. Can’t wait to start reading! Xoxo.
Wow…you sure do look shiny! Wish I could get a sniff!
