Today is “Take Your Dog To Work Day” (TYDTWDay), created by Pet Sitters International in 1999. It’s a campaign to encourage workplaces to open their doors to employees’ 4 legged friends for a Summer FUN Friday. Bringing them celebrates the great companionship dogs make and promotes adoptions from local shelters, humans societies and rescue groups.
What a PAWsome campaign. Nowadays, many workplaces welcome and understand the importance of having pets as a part of their working environment.
Nestle Purina (based in St, Louis) has won and been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work. Fifteen years ago, Nestle Purina , whose motto is “Your Pet, Our Passion”, recognized the benefits of allowing employees to bring their pets to work.
Nestle Purina started a “Pets At Work” (PAW) and wants to encourage other companies to embrace their “Pets At Work”movement. They believe having pets walking through the offices every day makes for a warmer, friendlier environment and helps with the company’s productivity.
Welcoming pets in the workplace is good for business. If you/your company wants to partake in PAW movement/program, Purina provides five simple suggestions for pet owners to help create a welcoming, pet-friendly program at their workplace. For more information, visit PetsAtWork.
I was fortunate that when I was a young pup, I got to go to mom’s work( Friday once a month). For the past years, both my peeps work at home. They have created a special place for me to hangout while they work. I have a comfy bed, stuffy toys to play with and most importantly have tasty Kong treats in my dispenser.

Mom said, today is a “special” Pets At Work and she’ll have a surprise “lunch trip”

It’s a wonderful initiative and I agree that having animals at work, or anywhere for that matter, makes people happier. Litchi is very lucky as she has always come to work with me (well, like your folks, I now work at home but even when I was in an office).
No SHE always worked in schools….several a day. AND dogs weren’t allowed.

our dogs stay at my work place every day… that is because i am retired and the only work i do is at home…
My office is not dog friendly. But, on fridays I get to work from home (you gotta love technology!), so my boys are at work with me today anyway 🙂
Every day is TYDTWD at our house since both our pawrents are retired!
Oh yes I get to go with MOM to work often at the church. Everyone loves it when I am there and there is always tons and tons of smiles from the people.

Siiiiiiigh. Momma didn’t take me to work today! She says no dogs allowed at the courthouse, but it’s our special day and everything!!

We are super lucky as mom works from home too so we are there with her but in Germany Katie went to the office all the time and loved it- me, well I was fired after 2 weeks for causing too much trouble, the office life was not for me. Being together is the best and lunch means a walk together…good for all of us 🙂 Love your tie and your bow!
We are are so lucky, our Person is retired, so she is home most of the time. But a day at work with the Mom or Dad sounds like fun.

Our mommy works here at home so we help her all the time! We think it’s great that companies allow employees who don’t work from home to be able to take their pets with them!

This was a great post but mom said she would not go get a job just so I could go to work with her. But if she had a job she promised she would take me so I said I was OK with that.

Working at the vet clinic was very friendly, but Shiner hated it! My father, who owns his own business, took his last dog to work with him until the last few days before she passed. My grandfather used to bring his dogs to work too, but I think his dog now has some hip issues so he’s never experienced going to work before.

Our Mom works at home, too — taking care of us and the house — so Callie and I get to spend the day with Mom while Ducky’s at daycare, playing with her doggie friends. It’s great for her because she’s busy all day and worn out by the time Mom picks her up so she doesn’t bother Callie and me as much.
No pups in the office here but they are busy guarding the home front and protecting the fridge from robbers – very important job!

All of the buildings I worked in would not allow dogs in the building. Too bad. BJ would have loved to go to work.

So nice to get to be with your mom all day! It’s always TYPTWD for me since I work at home. Rita crashes on the little sofa behind my desk.
When I had a real office job it was very stressful and i used to WISH we had pups there as stress relievers!
Unless we are on the catio or exhausted and napping, we help our mom work all the time. We like to sit in her lap, on her arms, on the computer or in her chair. I love how BYPTWDay benefits shelters, humane societies, and rescue groups. But I especially love how it benefits me! Fortunately, I am self employed so that means I get to have my dogs work with me any time I want (which is basically all the time). 🙂
Beautiful pictures as always. I get to take my pets to work since I work at a vet clinic that has a daycare attached. Yesterday I took my kitten with me to work and she got to run around the reception area in the afternoon. The clients loved to see her run around having fun. Have a great weekend.
