Last Saturday, the Amazing Pet Expo was in my Windy City. We had a chance to go. It was a long drive and “Siri” misguided us. We finally got to the event after an hour drive.
I was Golden Excited while waiting in line …
It’s an indoor event and the admission for both people and dogs were free. The event required all dogs to have proof of vaccination and must have a proper fixed leash.
The first booth I visited was Jones Natural Chews. I got to meet Golden Ozzie, named after the White Sox former coach. He sure was checking me out. Oh! lots of good smells in Jones Chews booth. Lucky Ozzie he get to test and chew all Jones Treats.
The second booth I visited was our twitter friend @MyDogTalks. I got to meet one of the young creator of the app My Dog Talks. Yes, it is an app available at iTunes. If you are a regular reader of my blog, you saw a video embedded on my I Got Marge Simpson Head video, if you missed our post Click Here. I will have more about My Dog Talks in the coming weeks. We plans to chit-chat and have a doggy play date with their dog Roxy.
I got to meet the “celebrities” of the Amazing Pet Expo. One of them is Preston who was very busy campaigning for his Petties DogTime Best Blog nomination. The line to meet Shorty Rossi from Animal Planet’s “Pit Boss” was a long line but had a brief chance to see him closely on the side of his booth. Shorty’s “Pit” was not bothered with all the fuss in the booth, just sound asleep on the table.
Lastly, I had lots of Golden FUN in participating in a rally obedience and agility courses. I received many applause and praises from the trainers. Many could not believe that I am an 11 (s0on to be 12) year old dog. I also caused a commotion as everyone noticed me wearing purple PAWZ and I got my “TheFifthPaw” on my leash. Yes, many asked us about it and we were glad to provide helpful information.
As a young pup, I was used to going on shows thus I was Golden Good at the expo. Unfortunately, we witness not so nice incidents at the expo. Not all dogs enjoy going to dog events as it can be overwhelming. Also, it was stated on the site to have a fixed leash, we saw some have a retractable leash (maybe it was an accident that the leash was released, but it should have been reinforced).
Does you city/town have a pet expo/fair? Do you bring your dog(s)?
Lots of Golden L♥VE n Woofs
SUGAR
Now that looks like so much fun. I have never been to a petexpo. Don’t think we have that around here. {sad Goose eyes} wish we did.
Blessings,
Goose
That is awesome Sugar! I am planning to go to the Austin Pet Expo on August 3rd. I am not taking Shiner though because she doesn’t do well in situations like that. I saw that Preston is going to be at the expo I’m going to as well. It will be my first expo, so if you have any good advice please let me know!
Oh that lwas a cool adventure Sugar. I would like to go to a petexpo too (specially when they have natural chews there). I think you are always Golden Good!
You are so lucky to go to the expo. It sounds like an awesome day and I would think of no other way you would behave. You are Golden Good.
looks like a ton of fun!
urban hounds
Sounds like a good time. I don’t understand people who insist on using retractable leads in places where their dogs really need to be under control.
A PetExpo sounds fun and daunting at the same time… I love to meet and greet other dogs but I am rather submissive and other dogs sense that. Thus I am often “dominated” in public, which is horrid. I also get golden excited in towns and start to tug and run and yowl. Mum says she prefers the quiet life and leaves me at home in the country. Like John Denver, I’m a country boy.
OMD OMD Sugar you got to go to PetExpo… We go to the one in Columbus Every Spring and just last month we went to the Pittsburger, Pencil Vane E Ah PetExpo… We saw Shorty there too.
It is sooooooo fun. We LOVE PetExpo…. We take our No Walkin Wagon and fill it to the TOP with all the give aways and stuffs.
Ernie and I are SO glad that you got to go to the PetExpo.
What a super day you had Sugar! I would have loved to have been there, maybe we go next time! Love Dolly
Looks like fun, shame some people don’t keep a closer eye on their dogs though. If I’m going somewhere busy I’m either on a really short lead or even on my halti (boo!) as I tend to get a bit excited.
That’s so nice that the Expo was free! There was some kind of Pet Expo near us a month or two ago, but it was a $15 admission fee for EACH day you went! And it lasted 3 days. We decided not to go.
Looks like you were ZOOMING right through those weave poles on the agility course! And that’s super cool that you got to see Shorty and his pit! Oh, and Preston! And Ozzie! And the kid that came up with that app! 🙂
Gosh, it looks like lots of fun!
Your pal, Pip
Mol Sugar…Siri might be first cousin to Jill our GPS lady. My dad gets really frustrated with Jill…
the Expo looked like a ton of fun
hugs madi your bfff
I wish we had an expo somewhere near, that looks like a lot of fun.
We don’t go often because with the two of us it can be a bit difficult…we are not small dogs really. Who would bring a retractable leash to such an event? That is part of the reason those leashes get such a bad wrap is people using them where they definitely don’t belong! Looks like you had a pawsome time 🙂
We wouldn’t go as we’d probably find it too much. Glad though you had a great time Sugar. Have a marvellous Monday and stay cool.
Best wishes Molly
We do have PetExpo’s in my area, but we never go. Truly, the boys wouldn’t enjoy the crowds or the noise. And Wilson especially prefers not to be petted by strangers, so he’s happier at home!
Sugar, you are such a good girl. I don’t think Honey would want to go anywhere else after stopping at Jones Natural Chews. 🙂
We took Honey to a pet expo when she was a puppy to teach her that crowds and excitement (in small doses) are lots of fun. I’m so glad we did. It was a great experience.
Sugar that sure looks like you had a GREAT TIME! Wish we lived in Chicago so we could have joined you!! You were smiling so much I could tell you had a great time!
Barks and licks and love,
Dakota
A little “Monday Mischief” over the weekend, huh? 🙂 Looks like you had a great time, Sugar. We have a GPS thingy, too, but the first time I used it was the only time I will — it took me so far out of my way it was ridiculous. No more — now I use the GPS app on my iPod and print it out before I leave the house.
Wow! What fun. You got to meet celebrities and everything.

Hey Sugar!
Wow, I think expo trips are the bestest! My peeps like to go with F-n-E and they clean up with lots of fun things like my Happy Lapper and lots of free samples too. They got to meet Shorty in Pittsburgh. I bet everyone loved your golden performance and those cool purple pawz.
Grr and Woof,
Sarge, COP
Pet Expos are fun! Mom and Auntie El were vendors at a few of them and had lots of fun.
The Florida Furkids
Sounds like a great event and we bet you had lots of fun meeting and greeting peeps and other dogs. Nothing like that where we live.
I wish we had expos here!
Nola
Sugar, you are just Golden lovely all the time. Ma says if only I could be so well-behaved! BOL I’m a terror of a terrier, I guess.
*Cairn cuddles*
Oz
Oh Sugar you must have had a blast at the expo. We love those events
Benny & Lily
We’ve never got to a pet expo nor will we. Little Bit is too old to start something like that. You need to start them when they are young like you did.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. My best to your mom. 🙂
Well of course you spwe good Sugar, you are always good!
Oh what fun! Nalle and Ku http://www.haikubyku.com send some woooooowooooooooos! Me-Ommmm
That looks like a fun place to go even though we didn’t see any kitties! You are so popular that we bet everybuddy loved meeting you!
Looks like you had such a good time!!
Wow! It looks like you had a lot of fun!!! 🙂
You had a super fun time. Glad you got there despite Siri.
We’ve never had any kind of pet expo where I live that I’m aware of. There have been fundraisers for the Humane Society, where they’ve featured different pet vendors, but nothing like this. I would love to attend one someday.
You know, of all the dog walks and things I’ve participated in, I’m really shocked that I’ve never been asked to provide proof of my pet’s shots! It never occurred to me before, but they really should ask! My dogs get them annually, but I know lots of other dogs don’t.
Oh how fun! I wish Rita could go to stuff like that. We have a doggie street festival here this weekend, but it would just be overwhelming for her and freak her out. It looks like you had a super fun time!
That does sound like such a fun event. Glad you all made it to the event. Have a great evening.
That sounds like doggie paradise. We did have a kitty expo not too long ago, but don’t know if we have one for doggies. Did you find anything to bring home with you? Our kitty expo had lots of toys for sale and our humans brought a couple home to us. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
No we don’t have an expo…or many dog events. You are very lucky.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
We are sooooooo jealous!! Oh, our GPS was naughty too!
Your Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Wow Sugar, that looks like a fun filled day. Hope you got some nummy treats from the jones booth. Thanks for sharing your day.
Oh, of COURSE they were goin’ WILD for you Sugar!! Your a STAR!!! Always have been, always will be….
Just lookie at you go! I hopes you gots some bananas after all that funs!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Sounds like you had a great time! Love the pictures.
Yours,
It sounds like you had a blast at the expo Sugar. Love that you took the Fifth Paw on your leash, great idea and advertisement!
We are jealous! Mom just looked into our closest expo but SHE has a wedding to attend the same day! Grrr. Glad you had fun!
Sugar that looks awesome, and I’m impressed that they took the time to check the vaccination records of all visitors. I would love it if something like that came to our area 🙂
That looks like a total fun day! All those people and the awesome smells of treats in the air. Sugar you were so good, not sure my beagle nose could stand it!
Maggie
Looks like lots of fun Sugar! I love your purple PAWZ!
Garth
You DO look excited! What fun, we do not have a pet expo but I wish we did!
Oh, I do wish we had something like that around here. It looks like you had such a great time, Sugar. Lots of neat things to see, and dogs to meet. You are such a good ambassa-dog for lots of things, like your purple Pawz!
It’s nice that you have no issues Sugar. So many dogs cannot say the same. We do have pet expos here but I won’t bring my dogs. Not that I don’t trust my dogs, but as you indicated some folks don’t follow the rules and the poor dogs are the ones who suffer.
It’s awesome you got to go to yours, Sugar! Dee and granddaughter got to go see Nashville Pet Expo on July 13th, but it didn’t seem to have had as much there as yours did. It was PAWSOME to see Preston though!
Not knowing exactly what it would be like stopped Vlad & Barkly from being taken, and glad they didn’t go now. Too many untrained-children AND dogs not being watched as closely as we thought they should. Wouldn’t have gotten to look at anything if we’d had to have been watching Vlad and Barkly as closely as it would have required in there. It would have been unnerving trying to guide Barkly around all the feet attached to those bodies with their heads in the clouds too.
That’s okay. Vlad & Barkly get to live vicariously through Sugar!
