My time outdoors have been limited during hot summer days. Luckily mom’s gym allowed me to go with her and I had a chance to workout too.
I was drawn immediately to the tire. A tire is one agility equipment I’m familiar to jump through. However, the tire in the gym was not hanging on a pole/frame but rather it is laying on the floor. Instead of jumping through it, I have to Jump In & Out The Tire.
How To Teach Your Dog To Jump In & Out A Tire
Let your dog be familiarized with the tire ex: sniffing it.
1) Start in a sit position (facing the tire).
2) Use the verbal command Jump, use a treat and hand signal “point” to guide your dog to jump in/out of the tire.
3) End in a sit position (facing the tire).
4) After several jumps, eliminate the hand signal “point.” Use only the verbal command Jump.
5) Most importantly Have FUN! Be patient.
Below is a 23sec video of ME, demonstrating how to jump in and out of a tire.

SUGAR
Very cool your mom’s gym lets you come. My MOM’s gym does not do that. But I think can still practice this. I just need to find the jack to hike up the Blazer to get a tire off. Let ya know how that goes.
Blessings,
Goose
Wish we could find an agility place nearby. Looks like a blast and great exercise to boot.
That is one neat trick Sugar. We don’t have a tire right now but that sure looks like fun. Hope you have a super week end.
We always love your videos – it’s good to see Sugar in action 🙂
Hope you did not get toooo “tired” Sugar… BOL
I will take one tire of the elephant skate – that sounds interesting. Have a funny friday, Sugar.
That’s cool!
Bravo to you fur finding a DIFFERENT way to use the Tire. We think it would be fun to jump through though.. Wonder why the PEEPS don’t use it THAT way??? hehehehee
That was darn cool Sugar and you are quite good at that exercise and agility stuff!
Now that’s a good workout. How fun you got to be indoors too.
How fun is that? Great pictures and tutorial. Have a great weekend.
Well done Sugar, that’s a good exercise to add to our routine…just have to find a big old tire. Dad ‘flips’ tires sometimes at his boot camp, not sure I could do that…no thumbs you know.
You’ve got that trick DOWN Sugar! And what fun that you can go to Mommy’s gym with her. We don’t have a tire in the house, but I do have a medium size hula hoop and I practice jumping in and out and through that on rainy days.
Great job Sugar!! How cool is that that your mom’s gym let you go with her!!!!! You sure are lucky!!!!! I think I am gonna go outside and take a tire off of Mom’s car and try your trick, do you think that that will make her happy????
Barks and licks and love,
Dakota
That is a fun idea. Mom has me jump around stuff at home or on walks sometimes. We don’t have a gym membership, and I doubt they allow dogs around here 🙁 Happy Friday!
Oh Sugar that is so pawesome! Wooooowooooooo, Ku
What a great trick. Lee and Phod
Great job Sugar. Have a pawesome weekend!
You’re so talented Sugar.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your mom. 🙂
SUGAR YOU ARE A MOST GORGEOUS AND COORDINATED GOLDEN FRIEND
HUGS MADI YOUR BFFF
Oh fun! Are you going to play football next, Sugar? Line up some more tires! Grab your shoulder pads! Look for the tackle!
Oh Sugar! We thought you were going to be moms personal trainer
Benny & Lily
Look at you go Sugar. You are one fit dog. Have a fabulous Friday and stay cool.
Best wishes Molly
Did you get tired – BOL?? As you may have seen, we now have jumps but I don’t want to jump over them even though they are set very low. I will jump through a hoop all day long but I just don’t want to jump over our jump. Mom is going to get a high value treat and see if it will make me jump. I think it might! Besides, your tire jumping inspires me!
Your Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
wow, that was awesome! i don’t think i could jump in a car tire, maybe a bicycle tire is more my size. BOL

Pawesome tire work, Sugar! I hope you have a great weekend. Oh! And I left you something on my blog today…you may already have it, but I’m giving it to you just the same!

That is PAWSOME Sugar!!
Can I just chew on it??
BOL
Kisses,

love the video Sugar! That looks like fun. Wish we had an indoor gym to go to, it has been so hot we are not getting much exercise.
hugs
Bailey, Hazel & Greta
This is great! My pups would love to have that tire. 🙂
Good job Sugar. Chester and Gretel aren’t trained as well as you (which is something I feel ashamed for not working on) so it would probably take them a lot longer to get it. It does give me some ideas that I could try with Chester and Gretel thought when fall comes and we spend more time indoors.
That looks really fun Sugar. I think we have an old tire so maybe we’ll give that a try
Very creative workout idea! Rita’s so afraid of stuff it would be tough to get her to jump in a tire. But maybe we’ll try jumping up on low walls and things that we see on our walks. Thanks for the idea!
Good job Sugar!
Sugar….
Not bad for a silver-faced “old girl”!! Really. I am quite impressed!! ;op
–Raelyn and Rose
Great job, Sugar! That looks like it is fun, and good exercise too. We don’t go to a gym, but I wonder if we could find a big tire like that somewhere?
That’s super cool that you can go to the gym with your mom. We have absolutely never heard of that before, We are sure our little city would never do anything like that. Have fun at your workouts. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
you are so lucky you’re able to go to the gym with you mummy. Looks like fun!
That’s really cool your mom’s gym let you come too! I don’t know of any here that would allow that.
Great workout idea Sugar. Great that you can do it indoors out of the heat too. Looks fun!!
Aha! Something I knew how to do before Sugar! I learned how to do this in beginners agility, they use a rectangle out of 1in PVC. We did it by tossing treats in the square then out of it to get us to move in and out. I got pretty good! Love Dolly
LOVE this game! Will get my hubby to procure an old tire and play this as soon as possible 🙂
