How did this Scoop That Poop Campaign get started?
The idea came about last February. We just moved back from HI to our home state IL. At that time we were living in a high-rise in the city. It was winter and so cold. We saw/met many city dogs and noticed that they don’t pick up their dog’s waste. Living in HI was upsetting to see that too many locals don’t scoop their dog’s poop. HI beaches are dog friendly but many owners just don’t pick up with the mentally it will get washed by the ocean water. Last March, when we moved back to our home in the suburbs, it was quite disturbing to notice that some owners really just don’t pick up their dog’s poop.
We felt that our blog can serve as a positive voice for this campaign and reach out to all dog owners to pick up their dog’s poop. We also want to bring awareness of the importance of scooping dog’s poop. Scoop That Poop Campaign is a FUN way to make a positive difference. We’ve created a logo for Scoop That Poop and asked three of our blog friends to join us, Gizmo, Garth, and Oz. Scoop That Poop will be an on going campaign and will keep you posted for our up coming plans.
5 Reasons WHY Scoop Your Dog’s Poop?
1) Rain washes dog waste and pollutes water (lakes, rivers, ponds, ocean, etc.)
2) Making drinking water unsafe and swimming dangerous.
3) Some Dog’s waste are unhealthy and may contain harmful organism such as E.Coli, campylobacter, parasitic worms, toxoplasma, and giardia.
4) It is a health hazard for other pets and as well as humans.
5) Be a responsible Dog Owner. It’s not that hard. It’s your Duty to Scoop Your Dog’s Poop.
I invite you to watch the 41 sec video we created … encouraging dog owners to scoop their dog’s poop to protect our water and environment.

This is a great campaign, Sugar, and we are excited to be a part of it!
We like your campaign, and we practice good scooping habits wherever we go.
Very cool campaign idea Sugar. I’m glad I get to join! Had something come up last minute that was perfect for this. We saw lots of giardia from dogs living in apartment complexes when I worked at the vet clinic.
We have dogs on campus all the time. I’ve only ever seen poop there once, and yet I’ve never actually seen anyone pick up after their dog. Guess the cleaning people do a really good job!
There’s a trail near my house that I sometimes take my boys to. I always pick up after them there. Fortunately, they provide doggy bags, but I always bring my own just in case they run out there.
Great initiative Sugar. Dog poop is out of control over my park. Such a shame that people are so lazy
We scoop our poop, Sugar. We think it makes people like doggies more.
Sugar you are the best K9 ambassador we have ever met!! WTG Sweet girl we are behind you 100%.
Hugs Madi your BFFF
Great poop post, thanks for having this day of awareness.
Always such a pleasure to see your smile Sugar Miss fluffy. We’ve got stickers all on the side of our fence telling everyone that there is no such thing as a poo fairy, doesn’t always work but it helps to remind people to be responsible dog owners. Lots of Luvs Freya Rose Blossom X
This message is so important! Cute logo, and hopefully it will make people think. I hope it gets beyond the pet bloggers to the ones who need the message 🙂
Cool campaign!!! Great job!
~Rebecca & Teach
We wish more people at MY park would do this.
THIS is just a FABULOUS post about picking up the poops.. We are big believers in doing it also.
We get really upset when we go to our STORE… PetSmart… and the Grassy Potty place is FULL of POOPS.. We just don’t UNDERSTAND why peeps who care enough to take their furbabies there to Shop… DON’T care enough to Scoop their Poops… They SHOULD Scoop the Poop.
What a great and important campaign Sugar and I think your blog is the great place to help spread awareness of this!!
Great video announcement, Sugar!
🙂
Hi Sugar, I’m surprised that so many people don’t pick up after their pups. In our development we have stations that hold bags for the poop and a disposal can. I wouldn’t think of not cleaning it up. I am so aware of the illness that dogs can pass; I don’t want Hunter to catch anything.
Thanks for sharing this important info today.
Noreen & Hunter
Dakota and i are proud to be a part of this most impawtant campaign! We LOVED your PSA!! It was so professional!
We don’t scoop poop. Jan does and she wants us to win, so we have to enter.
We always scoop! We wish everyone else did too.
I have been admiring your fifth paw for some time now. I would love to win one!
Oh my gosh, we are sad we forgot all about this blog hop. Mom is very good at picking up after us and wants everyone to know how important it is too. Great campaign, and hopefully it will bring more awareness to people.
Awesome video Sugar! And great post overall! Thanks for coming up w/ the idea and telling people about products to make scooping poop easier!
Garth
Sugar, you rock. We joined in the blog hop, but in a slightly different way …
Thank you for supporting responsibility – the pets and the planet deserve such care. Please check out Undoos which are biodegradable waste bags that have a biodegradable towel affixed to the bag. See them at http://www.FetchEarth.com. And here’s to walking green!
Great video, Sugar!!! Too bad I can’t force the video to be streamlined into some of my neighbors’ houses while they are watching TV. Actually, most of my neighbors are great about picking up the poop. But there are a few who refuse.
Great campaign Sugar. We scoop the poop. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Woof-hoo, Sugar!! I got my post up this morning (though it is a very simple one since I was so ‘last-minute’). I think I can get Ma (former nurse) to help me with a post about the icky things that live in poop and how they affect both dogs and humans!!!

This is a great campaign!! I hate when I have to go places and find other dog poop around. i don’t like smelling it or having to walk where it is. Thanks for putting the word out!!
That’s a very important post, Sugar! And it wears my name Easy scoop a poop LOL. Have a great monday!
This Hop was a great idea Sugar…I’m proud to be a co-host and I hope we can bring some awareness to the issue and help folks realize that Scooping That Poop is the way to go!
Great campaign, if you can’t scoop the poop don’t buy a dog.
Sheba.
We scoop Little Bits poop every single time. It’s our responsibility indeed.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. My best to your mom. 🙂
We always make sure our pawrents pick up our poop when we are away from home. Of course they also take care of it in our backyard as soon as we do it there too!
We always scoop and poop. So many don’t and it disgusting xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie
It always amazes me how RUDE people can be by NOT scooping up their dogs’ poop!
Such a great campaign idea, Sugar! I sure hope the message spreads far and wide in the dog world how necessary it is to Scoop That Poop.
I almost didn’t manage a post for this hop, but then decided it was too important of an issue not to participate in some way. It was a little last minute, but I made it.
P.S. Love the video! Your videos are always fantastic!
Thanks for putting this campaign together. It is a very important issue, especially if you live near water. Going through these blogs is going to take some time for me since I have a lot to say on this subject…being a water quality specialist and all 🙂
We never leave my poop for others to find. I have a roll of bags on each leash. 🙂 I wish everyone would scoop the poop! Some other critter is pooping in my yard, maybe a cat or raccoon (something than can climb a 6 foot wood fence). Mom scoops it when she sees it so that I won’t catch germs from it. ewwwwww. BOL!
Hugs,
Pepper
That’s a great campaign! Our poop is scooped from our box every day by our daddy. Our sisfur Sadie’s poop was always scooped on walks too even if Mommy gagged.
Oh, Ma LOVES this campaign!!! This is one of her pet peeves, and nothin’ annoys her more than seein’ peeps NOT pick up after their pooches!! Ma thinks my poop is FABulous, cause she’s always keepin’ it fresh in a bag…..BOL
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Great campaign!
I love this blog hop and I wrote a little something in support of it. Thanks for doing this – it’s one of my biggest pet peeves!
This is a great campaign. I think one of the reasons dogs aren’t allowed in more places is because their humans don’t pick up after them! If everyone would be more responsible, dogs might be allowed in places that they aren’t now.
Always good to know about new products. Mom is very good about scooping the poop both in our yard and on our walks. In fact we need to remind her that today is poop patrol day in the yard – trash day tomorrow. But her back may not be up for it. Maybe we need to pester Dad instead.
Have a good week, Sugar.
Woos – Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning
You rock, Sugar!
Nola
Haiz Sugar! Wut a paw-some PSA dis is!
DaMa always scooped da spottyed woofers poops whenever they goes out with herz and cleaned da yard here too. She think it rude of peoples to not to clean after their woofies.
Nowadays, she clean both boxes twice a day since Troyer got here. MOL
Panky
Sugar, we are very resposible pooper scoopers overs here! I have been visiting around and I have never seen so much poop in blogville as I have today. I think I need to go poop now, see you later.
Loveys Sasha
Hey Sugar!
Wow, this is such a scooper event! BOL Congrats on getting the bark out with so many furiends pawticipating and reminding everyone of the importance of cleaning up after us. Thanks for hosting this, my golden beautiful furiend.
Grr and Woof,
Sarge, COP
Great campaign! I just got a order from @poopbuddy today. So I am ready to scoop that poop or at least my ma is! (We always scoop by the way)
Great campaign! I hope those of us that aren’t already “in the choir” are getting the message! 🙂
We got our bags packed and we are ready to poop! Great idea Sugar, thanks for starting this. Lee and Phod
What a great video Sugar!! Mom and Dad are great poop scoopers, they keep our yard clean and clean up after us when we are away from home!
hugs
Bailey, Hazel & Greta
Oh how we like that scoop that poop campaign
Snorts,
Benny & Lily
Great campaign/blog hop!! It is definitely important to clean up after your dog no matter where he goes.
Excellent Poop Video!! You know we always scoop too. BTW, we got our Zututh electric brushes (it was fast!) but we ran 87 miles to get away from them. We didn’t mind the sound of them but there was no way we were going to let our pawrents put that vibrating thing on our teeths. Mom says “Oh well, we tried . . . ”
Your Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Great campaign! This is very cool and very handy!!
Good job with the video, and great images to get the message across!
Great campaign Sugar. I’ve enjoyed reading all the posts this week. 🙂 It bothers me when people don’t scoop. Of course there are health issues, but more than that, eventually dogs won’t be allowed places because their owners won’t clean up after them.
Love the scoop the poop campaign! I live in a nice residential area and nothing angers me more than having to deal with other dogs poop. If you aren’t willing to clean up after your dog you shouldn’t have one!
Great campaign……..drives us nuts when we pick up our dogs poop and no one else picks up after theirs…………ugh. Way to go!
Thanks for the giveaway
It seems like my dog ONLY likes to poop outside of our yard on walks so I have to scoop it so often
xo
I liked the video. Your golden is just beautiful. I think everyone who gets a dog should watch that! People get lazy and I hate it when it’s in my yard. It’s part of being responsible for your pet. It’s just like being a parent of your child you wouldn’t let your child do that why would you let your dog do it?
Great campaign and LOOOVE the video 🙂
Picking up after your dogs is extremely important, particularly when on walks or away from home. It’s at the very least common courtesy.
What a wonderful campaign! Hope you don’t mind if I spread the word on my blog site. Love you blog as well!! 🙂
