I am an active healthy senior dog. I Golden Enjoy Lots of FUN workout play.
A month ago, I shared my stair exercise video and introduced a FUNctional fitness apparel, K9FITvest by DogTread.
Many of you have asked what is a K9FITvest?
K9FITvest is a wearable fitness apparel that helps to increase the intensity level of any dog activity. K9FITvest increases endurance, burns calories, builds strength, assists on body awareness, enhances flexibility, aids in the prevention of arthritis and helps reduce anxiety.
The K9FITvest is designed to fit form-fitting like a glove to your dogs body.
It is designed not to move and/or slide. K9FITvest provides a gentle hug and pressure.
I typically wear the K9FITvest during stair exercise, with the main purpose of maintaining muscle strength and endurance. According to my mom, wearing the K9FITvest has given me extra energy and speed. I am her stair buddy workout. I am helping my mom prepare for a stair climb event. Next week, she’ll be climbing one of the tallest buildings in Chicago. She’ll be on her own as no dogs are allowed.
Nowadays, it’s cold and the daylight is getting shorter. With the K9FITvest, my late afternoon/evening walk(hills walk) in the park become a Power-Walk. I do several warm up stretches before I start. Hind Stretch is one of my favorite and its PAWsome for my back, neck and hind limbs. So lucky to find a permanent rock that can assist me with this stretch. The sit to down (aka doggy push up) is another favorite strengthen warm up I often do which helps prepare my muscles and joints.
Why would a senior dog like me wear a K9FITvest?
As a senior dog, I don’t wear the K9FITvest at all times. K9FITvest provide a low-level therapeutic approach to canine resistance training, also known as strength training. As a senior dog, it is important for me to do activities designed to maintain bone strength, muscle tone and stamina. I don’t need much resistance, the K9FITvest helps overall with my body awareness.
Will definitely plan to do more post with the K9FITvest.

Looking good, Sugar! My dogs have never worn one, but they look like great vests.
That looks great!! We are a little too small for the vests… but you make it look so stylish!! All the dogs are going to want one too!
Wish they made one in Mr. N’s size!
what a cool product

We’re big fans of the K9 FitVesst here Sugar…It’s an excellent tool in our fitness program
Sugar looks very fetching in those socks & vest. I’m sure my dog gets extra swagger when he’s wearing something that looks cool. And its great to see all those workouts you do presented in such an easy to follow guide. Great inspiration for FitDog Friday….
Sugar – you are a stellar example of senior fitness! Its great to see all the routines your mom has for you to keep you fit – swimming, stairs, power walks and even stretching! Plus you look very hip in your purple shoes and lime green FitVest! Thanks for joining the Hop.
i love the ROCK pose… and I need one of those for me…
That vest looks really interesting, I’ll have to look into it 🙂 Also, you look smashing in those booties! <3
That looks like a great addition to walking and stuff. I can see the benefits of that, especially when you can only walk for a short time.
Looks like a great idea to encourage a more intense workout
My older dog, Lola, has arthritis. I wonder if this would be good for her! Have to do some more research!
I wore one of those once. Did I already tell you that? Yep, and I liked it, and MOM said I looked very handsome in it. I would also like to say that it felt real good to wear it.
Blessings,
Goose
Maybe I should buy Katie one for Christmas? We will have to see if it would be something she would benefit from or not. It definitely looks fashionable!
As the good song says Sugar….You Wear It Well. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
You look like a rock star in your vest Sugar! Woooooowoooooooo!
You are a very healthy and active senior Sugar. Out Little Bit has learned many things from visiting you. Thank you.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your mom. 🙂
That looks great, Sugar! You willl be the star on every dogwalk!
Sugar you look spectacular in anything, doing anything, all the time
Hugs Madi your BFFF
Oh, that looks Most Interesting. I wonder if that would be good for Brudder Ranger cuz, well, he’s a senior, too, and it might help him build up his muscles and stuff since he hurt his back. We’ll have to look into it. Thanks!
Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
Like Tori, I wonder if the fitvest would be a good thing for Callie and Shadow to wear since they both have arthritis in their hips; and Callie has some in her spine as well.
Very cool. Do they make these for cats?
Wow Sugar! You have a rockin’ Golden body! We hope your mom does well during her stair climb! We’re sure you trained her great though!
We’ve always believed in keeping our pups fit. We tried even when Sam was slowly fading to get him out once a day – even if all we did was walk to the mailbox and back. It isn’t just for their overall health but for mental stimulation.
We will have to look into the vest.
Monty and Harlow
Very cool! So important to keep the muscle mass as we get older! Love the pic w/ the “Move your Mutt” bracelet in the shot!
Oh Sugar, you look devine in any attire sweet girl!
Keep fit Sugar. You are an inspiration! Happy Fit Dog Friday and have a wonderful weekend. X TH
That vest is great. You are such an active dog, Sugar. You look so cute doing your stretches. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Just like Rocky on those steps! Haha
This is great information, Sugar. I had heard of and seen the vest, but didn’t know so much about it. It is so great to see a senior like you being so active, so I’d really like to try this with my golden also. She just turned 9 but I want her to keep being active for many more years to come!
Sugar, you look very dapper in your vest and purple pawS.
Thanks Sugar! I’m so glad you talked about the function of the vest – I had the same question but haven’t had time lately to research it. So pawsome of you to help your mom prepare for her climb!
You rock that vest Sugar!
Oh wow! Ma just checked it out Sugar, and it really looks great! You can also by cold packs to put in it so it can be used as a cooling vest too!!! FABulous, cause Ma was goin’ to by my a coolin’ vest for next summer, butts this can help with my weight loss AND can be used as a cooling vest!
Thanks for the heads up!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Sugar, you really set an excellent example for all doggies to stay fit as we grow older. You’re the fittest senior doggy we know! (and you’re fitter than most younger dogs we know). You’re so lucky to have such awesome parents who know the importance of helping you stay fit.
Wow – we’ve never tried a K9 Fit Vest, but we know about the importance of strength training, so we might have to give it a try.
Garth
Thanks Sugar for the post on the K9FITvest. We were busy with Canine Rehabilitation and a Surgical Vet Conference this week so we did not get a chance to join the FitDog Friday Blog Hop. We will follow up this week with answers to some of the great questions generated by your post…stay tuned for more K9FITvest answers!
Good for you Sugar and best of luck to your Mom on her stair climbing event.
