The change of weather seems to affect the ability of dog owners to pick up their dog’s poop.
We saw many poop offenders on our walks.
Is it that hard to pick up your own dog’s poop? Several poop offenders we saw actually picked up their dog’s poop but left the bag on the ground. We know exactly who these poop offenders are, joggers. Many joggers fail to pick up poop while jogging with their dogs. For the past weeks, we were on a hunt for dog joggers and secretly conducted a mini survey. Surprisingly among 5 dog joggers, 2 of them admitted they don’t pick up and 2 of them pick up but leave the bag on the jogging path. We were not too happy with their answers. Mom sure gave them stink eye with a message to them about the importance of scooping their dog’s poo and dispose it accordingly. Their main excuse is that its hard to carry and run with their dog’s poop in hand.
We are a proud owner of TheFifthPaw, a leash attachment that carry multiple dog’s poop. It’s a product that we love and find it very useful. TheFifthPaw is permanently attached on my leash.
We would like to remind every dog owner that no matter what the weather is and/or activity you do with your dog, be a responsible dog owner, Scoop That Poop.

SUGAR
I’m joining this post to Monday Mischief for those mischievous dog joggers.
It’s not that hard to scoop the poop Sugar..if they go to the trouble of picking it up then surely they could take the bag with them….yukky…keep on reminding them Sugar 🙂 hugs Fozziemum x
We always have our bags.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
If I can juggle a dog, a clicker, treats and a poop bag, they can handle jogging with a bag!
Very few of the dogs in my neighborhood are lucky enough to get to go jogging, so not too many offenders in that category. We have more of the garden variety offenders 🙂
Yep we have seen it. I can tell you my jogging pals Murphy and Stanley’s parents always scoop and carry the poop as they continue their run. That least clippy thingy is a great idea for jogger. But you know what Isee a lot? Runners with their dogs but the dog is not on a leash.
Blessings,
Goose
that is a really cool contraption..
Maybe they should make the poop carrier mandator like a baby car seat and people would use it. Lee and Phod
Happy Monday to you Sugar.
Geez what ill mannered joggers and they give all dog owners a bad reputation!
they are out for exercise and stooping is a great stretch-ercise!!
Hugs Madi your bfff
WE don’t have any joggers out here in the country, butt we don’t like it when folks don’t PICK UP THE POOPS.
It is RUDE and even DANGEROUS … just think about it… if one of those joggers would step on a bag of poops… they would SLIP and SLIDE and FALL.
I have been thinking about the poop issue since we landed in Utah again. people here are the worst of anywhere I have been. We sometimes walk on a paved trail by the river, and there is poop everywhere, And I got a weird look the other day picking up Torreys pooh.
I needed a dog walking purse to carry everything, poop bags, treats, phone. So I made one. I love it. It is on my Desert Raven Art blog today, and will be on Roxy’s blog tomorrow.
It IS hard to stop jogging to scoop and throw away poop. That’s why Momma jogs alone and takes me and Cinderella on our own separate walks! Sheesh, why do some humans have such a hard time figuring these simple things out??
We have a poop bag holder on our leash that has a hook to hold the filled bags and we love it! TheFifthPaw sounds like it fills a similar role, it really is a great idea, I’d suggest something like it to all dog owners!
We have some very naughty offenders over here. Really makes us mad. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Since we are on such a busy road, we don’t see any joggers, or walkers for that matter; but at the park we see A LOT of them. Some are really good about scooping the poop and some are just plain lazy and selfish about it. Mom manages Shadow, me, our back pack, AND cleaning up my poop — Shadow is very picky about where she poops — so if Mom can do it, so can everyone else! Keep up the great work, Sugar! And Mom sez to tell your Mom to keep giving “the stink eye”!
That sure sounds quite reasonable to us!!!
Shame on all of those that don’t pick up after their dogs, and shame on those that do and then leave the bag on the ground. We would never do that Sugar.
Have a woof woof day. My best to your mom. 🙂
We don’t have any joggers, plenty of lazy dog owners though.
Sheba.
My mom’s poop bad dispenser has a handy clip for attaching full bags. Oh! Last week I was hanging out with toddlers and found a poop bag dispenser in a diaper bag! I asked the mom why the heck she had poop bags in the diaper bag. DOH! For diapers. I’ve been living in dog world too long, maybe.
Mom carries a poop bag holder and bends to pick up poop even with my hip pain because of bursitis. The only people to get a pass are those who are disabled and can’t pick up. Unfortunately, there are people in my neighborhood who can pick up and don’t.
I wish I could figure out a way to set up surveillance and see who’s doing it.
I hate that when folks pick it up, but then leave the bag and forget it. I have a little pouch for carrying my phone and and my ID that velcros onto Rita’s leash. After I pick up a bag, I slip the knot of the bag into the velcro so I don’t have to carry it.
Lazy joggers!!!
When Mom runs with dogs, she either plans a route that passes a trash can early on so she can toss the bag, or she wears a pack on her waist so she can put the bag in there and doesn’t have to carry it, but seriously, jogging is no excuse! You have to stop to pick up the poop, so take it with you too. We still find the biggest offenders in our area are kids walking dogs.
I’ve never seen anyone pick it up but leave the bag on the ground. That’s just not right
I occasionally see a bag of dog poo left on the sidewalk in our neighborhood. I guess these people think they are being courteous by picking up their dog’s poo but it negates their good deed when they leave the poo back behind.
Our mommy says there’s lots of poop on the forest trails because people let their dogs off leash so don’t watch them poop so don’t scoop. Or maybe they just choose not to but either way they’re lazy. Hope those people scoop the poop after your mom gave them the stink eye!
Not to mention offending hikers that don’t pick up their dog’s poo. Grrrrr…
Part of being a dog owner means sometimes having to do unpleasant things. If your dog vomited or defecated in the house – would you just leave it there because you were too busy or too good to pick it up? Of course not! Then stop doing it out in public people. Unless you have a heart attack immediately after your dog poops and you are whisked away to the hospital or keel over, there’s no excuse for not picking up after your dog. And the fact that someone’s dog poop is probably the reason I had to take Blueberry to the vet for an URI makes me even angrier now when I come across those offending piles.
I am a bit behind and will be jumping around as I catch up, but the joggers should realize that if they don’t clean up, some day their dogs won’t have access to the jogging paths or the parks. We will leave bags on our path in the forest, but always grab it on the way out. It is rare to see other people in the woods so it is pretty easy to remember it…lol.
We will have to try that. I’ll admit, depending on where we are walking to I have left the bags behind. However, we only do this if we know we are coming back that way and collect them on the way back. We’ve never left poop behind else wise.

The not picker uppers are so annoying

All I can say is HOW RUDE! Thanks for the tip on how to make a win-win situation for everyone.

This was a much needed post! Those poop-offenders really get us upset too. Too bad this post couldn’t be made into a 5ft X 5ft sign and posted on all dog walker/jogger paths. We’ve missed you Sugar!!!
Smooches from pooches,
BabyRD & Hootie
i can’t believe people would bag it and leave it! that’s even worse than not picking it up at all! wouldn’t that be considered littering and isn’t that illegal? ugh! i totally don’t mind walking around with a bag of poop in my hand. as a matter of fact, i want people to see me so they can see that i am a responsible dog owner. there is no shame in carrying a bag of poop.
wags, bailey unleashed
Oh goodness, what are they thinking? Do they think the poop fairy is going to come along behind them and pick up the bags?? Your fifth paw is great, but even if they don’t have it, it doesn’t hurt to be carrying a bag when you are jogging! I have a little old fanny pack that I use, and that works just fine too.
It really amazes me that they put it in a bag and then just leave it. How rude. Give them all the stink eye!
Oh Sugar…why oh WHY can’t people Scoop the Poop?!? There is no excuse…even for joggers. They could just jog over to the garbage bin and dispose of the poop bag. Sounds like you and mom are on a mission!

There are far too many offenders where we walk.
