Pomegranate is known as super food that treat several health problems. It is packed with powerful oxidants and vitamins. Can Dogs Eat Pomegranate?
Pomegranate is a fruit that is mostly seeds.
From my research, many dogs get sick from eating pomegranate.
Did you know pomegranate is high in tannins antioxidant?
Many dogs can’t consume this type of plant based antioxidant.
The side effect will be a sore stomach and vomiting.
Sugar is very intrigued with pomegranate.
She always begs to have a taste. Sugar already has a very sensitive stomach, so as much as she likes to have a taste, she can’t have pomegranate.
Use your best judgement if you plan to feed your dog pomegranate.
Definitely Tuesdays Just Got Tastier.
Lots of Golden Thanks.
Happy Tasty Tuesday!
Don’t think we’d even try that if SHE gave us some.

Koly and Fe LOVE pomegranate, but I tend to give it to them as a 100% unsweetened juice in pupsicles, not as the whole seeds.
I give Beamer pomegranate here and there. It’s a hit or miss with him. He’ll only eat it if he’s hungry. We have yet to see any problems from feeding them to him.
As much as we like the looks of it…don’t think it would be something we would like. We are a little picky…not big on fruits and prefer veggies and meat!! Not so sure about the seeds!! Happy Tasty Tuesday!
I never knew that, but pomegranate is not a food I think I would risk!
My dogs have tasted pomegranite, but only mixed with yogurt for flavoring in some frozen fruit cubes. Great warning, Sugar.
I think the juice is okay – we see that in a lot of dog cookies…it is the seeds themselves that are dangerous.
Morning Sugar and thanks for adding us to the hop.
My mom loves pomegranate….even though she has to WORK hard to get to them.

Hugs Madi your bfff
Mom loves the flavor of pomegranate but she doesn’t like to just eat them. We have had them is some things like yogurt but it isn’t real common at our house. In Germany lots of people ate them. They look so tasty with their bright red color.
Interesting! I never knew that!
We don’t have pomegranate in our house often at all so my dogs have never tried it.
Huskies tend to be sensitive with different foods though so I don’t think I would let them try anyways.

HUMMMMMM this is interesting. There are some treats that have POM. in them. Wonder if the companies know about the danger? We had some Pom. treats and we liked them… butt only got one a day.
Momma loves those things, but she had never given any of it to us, we thought she was just being selfish and wanted them all for herself but here hers was really keeping us safe. Now I am ashamed of myself for my evil thoughts.

Ma loves the flavor of pomegranate but she doesn’t eat the fruit. BOL There are lots of great fruits and veggies that have antioxidants!
Happy Tuesday,
Oz
I don’t really think I want to risk those side effects! 🙁 Although those look tasty (all hoomin food looks tasty!)
My mom is obsessed with this pomegranate-thingy. Me not. But I like that you can mess up the whole kitchen within a minute with such a thingy, think it’s more a pomegrenade. Have a tasty tuesday, dear golden gilr.
I did a lot of research a while ago about dogs and pomegranate. Leo loves pomegranate and it is a very healthy snack for parrots. BUT Leo is a very messy eater so what he eats, the dogs often eat. I used to give Leo a a half a pomegranate and let him spend the day picking out the seeds but then I would hear a thud and find Wilhelm gnawing on it. Not good! So, like avocado, pomegranate is just something we don’t have in our house and is a great for humans when they are away with out pets!
Huh. We’ve never considered giving the dogs pomegranates, but they’ve never begged for it. Of course, we rarely eat it ourselves. Looks like Sugar wants it, though, sweet thing.
That’s very interesting info about pomegranates! I wonder, now, if cranberries are safe for the girls? I’ve never dissected a cranberry, or even researched them. I just know the juice from cranberries is good for people who have trouble with kidney stones. I’ve never had to worry about it, so I didn’t. I do like them though. I just don’t buy them very often because hubby doesn’t like them.
I don’t think I would let Little Bit have this either. Thanks for the public service announcement on this. I didn’t know.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. My best to your mom. 🙂
Very interesting. I’m not a huge fan of pomegranate myself, so we don’t usually have any in the house, but this is good to know!
I haven’t eaten a pomegranate in years. If I ate one then Bentley would want to eat some also. He feels I should let him sample everything except lettuce. He tried it but was not a fan!
I’ve never had that Sugar!!! Looks kinda tasty..I bets it makes for interestin’ poops!! BOL
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
We have never had pomegranate and mom says that we probably never will. Thank you for passing on this great info, Sugar!
Love ya lots♥
Mitch and Molly
BJ will not get pomegranate. Thank for the info.
Oh Sugar, when we were eating our homemade birfday cake yesterday we kept thinking about how you get to eat all the delicious stuffs your mom makes all the time. You are so lucky!
Your Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Arty and Dory have sensitive tummy’s too, but did well with the pomegranate treats we recently reviewed for Chewy.com. We do know that they are very acidic, so we probably would stay away from fresh pomegranate.
Smileys!

We probably would not like them Sugar. Sorry we are over so late. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
I don’t think I would like that. I will stick to my blueberry

We’ve seen the same things about the seeds, but I have to say, Sophie LOVES pomegranate seeds. I accidentally dropped a couple one day and she gobbled them up and now begs for some anytime I have some. I can’t say what is best for other dogs, but a few seeds here and there seem to be okay for ours…
As close as we have come is some pomegranate flavored dog treats. 🙂
Would have never thought to ask but now I’ll know not to think about doing it! Thanks! Love Dolly
What a good question! I would have guessed probably not, but didn’t know this before. We have a big pomegranite tree outside, but I can never get any good fruits off of it..
Pomegranates are yummy! I always wondered if dogs could have them but I always forgot to research it, so thanks for this post! 🙂
Beautiful pictures and thanks for the information.
Thank you for this heads up. We’re going to be having a Pomegranate tree in the house we’re moving in, so we’ll have to make sure to pick them before any pup decides to sample the fruit 🙂
