Do you love Summer?
Summer is a special time to enjoy the outdoors with your dog.
Here are 5 FUN Summer Activities To Do With Your Dog
1) Make your daily walk a bit more exciting by going on a NATURE WALK. Many parks have a garden that allow dogs. We have several in our area and our favorite is the wildflower garden.
2) Weekend CITY Day TRIP
Since we live in the suburbs, going to the city is always a special trip. We recently explored the City of Chicago and went on a 2 mile walk to see Wrigley Field 100 Centennial Seats. Sugar took photos at all 100 seats/50 displays. We plan to go to the city again, walk the Riverwalk and go on a Canine Cruise.
Check your city for Summer events and activities you can do with your dog.
3) Go on a RoadTrip
Nowadays, many families travel with their dogs, taking them along on vacation. We recently went on a long and a short road trip. Both were FUN and Sugar had an enjoyable car ride. Make sure your dog is safe, buckle up and remember to never leave your dog in a hot car.
4) A Trip to the Garden Center
Do you enjoy gardening? Many garden centers allow dogs. We often take Sugar to a local family owned garden center. They cater to both garden and pet lovers. A large section of their store is for pets. They even have a treat bar for dogs.
5) Backyard Play
Utilize your back yard to play and have fun with your dog. Fetch play is Sugar’s favorite. On hot days, the best way to cool off is to set-up a wading pool or water sprinkler. Last year, Sugar had so much Golden FUN when our friend built a project in our back yard, Giant Sprinkler.
These FUN Activities will definitely bring lots of SMILES to you and your dog.
Have a Safe FUN Summer.
Lots of fun! That’s a lot of photos to take Sugar. Good thing you are a great model. Shiner visits the garden center everyday 😉 but it is a really good idea actually. Our garden center is dog friendly and we do get some doggy visitors. When my dad had a dog, she went to work with him everyday.
Those all sound like fun activities. We do most of our summer entertainment right in the back yard since Duke likes to swim
We usually go for early morning walks in summer–and go to a variety of places.
I might like the giant sprinkler idea, but didn’t like the wading pool thing. I enjoy nature walks most!
I love the giant sprinkler. Sugar looks like she’s enjoying it too. Oddly, neither of my water dogs are big water fans and go the other way when i bring the sprinkler out. Thanks for joining the Hop Sugar!
Oh wow! That giant sprinkler is awesome! We’ll be back in August so maybe we can do more city adventures then! That’s really cool about the 100 seats.

Great ideas, we will take a road trip to the beach or to an ole castle, hope I will meet a ghost there :o)
Sugar is so patient! Barley would humor me for probably 5 of the 50 seat displays, but after that, she’d be ready to get moving again! I love that Sugar let you take pictures with all of them. Thanks for sharing such great ideas for summer fun!
Oh I love the Giant Sprinkler! What a great project and fun way to cool off. I always wanted a waterfall in my yard, to sit under and cool off.
All super fun things to do! I am laughing because we both did a “5 Things” post today. Do great minds think alike or what, Sugar?!? BOL I sure hope you have a wonderful weekend with you mom and dad. Are you going somewhere fun?!?

We never leave the house, but we’ve been following you on Instagram and Facebook and thought we’d better get over here and see your website. Very nice.
Have a great weekend.

Great tips on summer fun with our pups!!! We have a ton of fun in the summer! Actually Koda just went for his very first swim yesterday! I was so proud of him! He has always been scared of the water, but he followed his big sisfur in yesterday, and had a blast!

We like to do ALL those things too! Yay for summer!
We LOVE summer time. And we do all those things, well not so much the city trip thing. But even going to the city adventure once in a while, especially the Farmers Marker.
Blessings,
Goose
Great tips… we love summertime!
Great ideas! We don’t like to travel much in the summer though because it is so warm. Love that sprinkler thingy in your yard!
Great tips, looks like Sugar loved the sprinkler in the garden centre.
The Giant Sprinkler looks super awesome!!
A canine cruise sounds amazing! You always have so much fun, Sugar!
That picture from the Garden Center is great! I need a sprinkler that big.
Great fun activities for Sugar. We live in a ridiculously unfriendly dog area and there are not many places that will allow our boys to visit. We do enjoy our walks and yard play. Have a golden day! ♥♥
those are all wonderful summer ideas – we especially love your sprinkler…..I think I would have more fun in it then the boys though – they HATE water 😉
We like exploring in the summer.
We are actually lazy in the summer because we get hot pretty quick

A canine cruise? Oh that sounds so fun! You’re lucky you live near a big city that’s not so hot you’ll get heatstroke if you try walking around too long during the day! Even in our town it can get pretty hot outside quickly. Someday we’d like to live in another state where it’s nice outside in the summer 🙂
We would love to go to the garden center with mom! We need to ask her if we can go with her next time she goes! Thanks, Sugar!
Love ya lots♥

That giant sprinkler looks pawsome! I bet Mauja and Atka would love it 🙂 When we lived in California, we used to go on day trips to the city. We’d walk around, shop, hit the beach, and eat at
an outdoor restaurant. We don’t have anything like that near us now, but hopefully soon! Now we just head out for long hikes 🙂
We love all those ideas!
That cruise looks fun. Mr. N has never been on a boat.
these are pawtastic ideas Sugar! We love the Nature Walk one and we are going to add some city trips (if I can ever get off of this computer!) before summer is out!
Those are all great ideas. We also like to go swimming, that is a fav around here!
What wonderful suggestions!! We will have to put them on our summer bucket list!!

Great stuff to do in the summer. I don’t know what the temp is of the water but last weekend during the hunt test I had my shorts on and barefoot stood on the water to run Gman cuz I didn’t bring boots. The water was warmer then the cold air we had that morning.
It’s so hot here that a lot of games and activities are limited to what we can do indoors. It’s already hovering at 95ish at 5:30 in the morning! Bleh!
Monty and Harlow
You sure know how to have fun, Sugar! We just moved to Iowa so we have a bunch of new places to explore… If only it would stop raining!
Those are really great ideas Sugar!
I see that Miss Sugar sometimes wears those dog booties. Here in Western Georgia, the blacktop really can fry eggs. One of the tv stations tried it a few years back.
So I have been looking at dog booties that are the right fit, and maybe are just an arm; not an arm and a leg.
Sugar looks happy with her purple ones. My Brooklyn I think would take the next size up….? Brooklyn needs foot protection IMO. Everyone in the family is looking at me like I have hit the bottom and am completely over the edge into insanity.
That brand is affordable, but 1) do they stay on well? 2) are the booties enough of a protector for her feet? Since dogs sweat at their paws, it seems like that rubber stuff would just hold her sweat in. Just doing errands today, I tried to move my butt faster so she didn’t have to have much time on any one pad. 3). My gal is 60-65 lbs. I held her paw up to the picture and it looks like XL would be her size. But if they run big, maybe I should go with the purple.
I have had my dog all of 4 days now. She is a Hearing Ear Service Dog, from Canine Companions (fantastic org!)
So maybe I am over the edge, but I feel very obligated to give her every ounce of my best to her.
Thanks for any feedback.
Fun stuff! I think we’ve done all of these… minus the backyard, since we don’t have one 🙁 – but we take them to a hockey rink that they close in for dogs in the summer and they love it! So until we get a house, that acts as our ‘backyard’. I wish summer never ended… already dreading winter!
