There’s no doubt that if you have/had dogs, you would agree that there are many ways that dogs can teach us about living a better life and what love is.
I’m grateful for all the life and love lessons that Sugar has taught me. Everyday, I live with all the Golden Teaching that Sugar has instilled in me.
1) Live In The Moment – If you been a follower of our blog/FB, we’ve shared many Golden Moments. Sugar taught me to live in the present and the importance of being enthusiastic no matter what the moment may bring. Adding some SMILES is what makes our everyday Golden Special. Dogs live for today – and so can you.
2) Forgiveness – Many find that forgiving someone is difficult and hard to carry out. Dogs are not perfect and they do make mistakes but don’t hold any grudges. Forgiving is an act that everyone should practice. Forgiving will empower you to have peace and to do more good.
3) Be HAPPY – Sugar’s happiness is infectious. No matter what my day brings I have Sugar’s HAPPY SMILES to guide me. Dogs do have their way to show us a joyful life.
4) Life is an Adventure – Dogs find life exciting. Everyday with Sugar is an adventure and continues to teach me how simple joyful moments are the best.
5) LOVE – I am a proud recipient of Sugar’s Golden LOVE. Love that is unconditional and non-judgmental. Pure love full of acceptance, affections and respect … just like what you would like for others to love you.
These Golden Teaching from Sugar are some of the teachings in Larry Kay’s book: Life’s A Bark: What Dogs Teach us About Life and Love.

Great advice Sugar.
That sounds really like a good read. I bet it’s written with tons of love and the cover is just wonderful!
My dogs have showed me to slow down and enjoy life. Every time they go on a walk they just take in all their surroundings and take their time. I think we all need to slow down every now and then and remove ourselves from the fast-paced everyday environment we live in.
Great advice Sugar – sounds like a wonderful book!
great review Sugar!
Morning Sugar…Mom says a house w/o a pet is a sad house indeed.
Mom says felines teach their owners all about patient and most of all they teach their owners
that being in control is not a big deal. Anyone living with cats knows you have to surrender control…and go with the flow.
Hugs madi your bfff
Sounds like a good read. Have a marvellous Monday Sugar.
Best wishes Molly
No doubt about it, we would all be happier if we approached life as dogs do!
All those things are so true, and what we must always remember.
Hey Sugar!
Wow, you definitely know how to live the golden good life and you and your Mom are such a great team! Thanks for hosting the book giveaway and I’ll add it to the BCCalendar. Have a golden lovely day!
Grr and Woof,

We think everyone should have that wonderful outlook on life Sugar!
Great review Sugar! And, what an awesome book too, dogs have so much to teach us!
Our babies teach us many things indeed. They do love us unconditionally.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. 🙂
Great review and dog lessons to live by. Thanks for sharing the information about this book.
We met him at BlogPaws and he is on our list of folks to contact that we haven’t had a chance to contact. Mom is much happier when she tries to live like a dog, that is for sure, and she couldn’t live without a dog.
I know that I’m suffering greatly being separated from our pups. I didn’t realize how much I lived for those sunny moments they fill the day with.

Absolutely right. We don’t call it the Lady I rescued for nothing. Dogs provide us with so much that we can easily take it for granted, I try to appreciate it everyday.
Great post. We’ve learned lots from our dogs, but our best teacher was our 3 legged girl, Abby who taught us about not feeling sorry for yourself and just getting out there and loving life every day!
My wife and I have had dogs in the house longer than we’ve had children. While our first dog has a special place in our hearts (and on the wall), our current big red Golden, Harley, is the sweetest pup ever. He was a refuge after a big storm several years ago and we ended up with him. He is mixed breed, but his personality is all Golden. Lots of smiles and always in a good mood.
we love those top 5 – and indeed there is much we can learn from the furbabies 🙂
Benny taught us to live in the moment

you can never have a bad day when you come home to puppy dog kisses
We know Sugar is a very special girl and she’s taught us all so much! Our mommy loves her too! 🙂
Sounds like a great book! Our dogs teach us so much! People who choose not to have pets are missing out!

What a great book and giveaway!! I know Rooney teaches me so much every day!
Hi Sugar and Mom, I have learned so much from all the beloved pups I’ve had. Sometimes, I just don’t think about what they’ve taught me enough. This sounds like a wonderful book and I would love a chance at winning it.
Have a great evening!
Noreen
What a great post, we agree with you 100%!!

Sounds like a very good book, we should take more lessons from our dogs, the world would be a better place to live in. When Norman was diagnosed with cancer I learned to live like I was dying and we did so many adventures before he died.
I have learnt so much for my dogs, but I think it is the unconditional love that just jumps off the page, that and the trust they place in me. They have to trust me to know what’s best.
Take time to play
All my dogs have taught me to live in the moment and to cherish each and every moment I spend with them. This book is going on my summer reading list!
K taught me similar lessons. A beautiful post!
Sounds really interesting!
My dogs have taught me that there’s always something to experience and be happy about.
I have learned from Ruckus that if you are cute and fluffy, you can get away with anything!
I have learned that Spencer isn’t spoiled but well loved! 🙂
I think our dogs teach us to appreciate the small things
My dog was hit by a car and had to have an eye removed and sewn shut. She has taught me not to judge others by their outward appearance to love unconditionally no matter what.
When all else fails just take a nap.
I would like to have a copy of this book
My dogs have taught me to love the simple things in life and to go for what makes me happy.
We can learn so much about living life to the fullest from our dogs! Great advice and what a wonderful book to capture that!
Do very cool that I won. Can’t wait to get and read I need some inspiration today as the Gman and I failed another hunt test so this was a nice surprise.
Wonderful lessons! And it’s so true that dogs teach the people so much more than people could ever hope to teach dogs <3
