Everyday is Dog Day.
August 26 marks National Dog Day, a day to honor all dogs. Colleen Paige, a pet lifestyle expert and author, founded National Dog Day in 2004 inspired by shelter pets.
National Dog Day is a special day to celebrate and appreciate your dog’s unconditional love and loyalty.
Dog Day Celebration : 5 Ways To Celebrate National Dog Day
1) Enjoy the Outdoors
Take a long walk at your’s dog’s favorite park. Enjoy the scenery, listen to the birds and/or feed the ducks in the pond while they quack a happy tune.
2) Pampered Spa
Give your dog a grooming session, like a refreshing bath or brush your dog’s coat. It’s a PAWsome bonding time that will definitely make you and your dog smile.
3) Tasty Treat
Prepare a special tasty treat, like dog safe and dairy free ice cream.
Use your dog’s favorite ingredient(s). Sugar loves banana and I plan to make her a special treat. (Make sure to check our Tasty Tuesday post 8/26). Click Here for Sugar’s Banana National Dog Day special treat.
4) Turn Photos into a Portrait
Make sure to take lots of photos to commemorate National Dog Day. Select your favorite photo and turn into a hand painted portrait. Sugar’s Pet Portrait created by Bethany.
5) Go Shopping & Donate
A great day to take your dog to a pet store and shop. Donate all the goods you bought to a local shelter or rescue group.
What’s your plan to celebrate National Dog Day?
Isn’t National Dog Day EVERY Day? Good ideas Sugar, we are hoping to post about it tomorrow!

Mom says every day is dog day at our house. We will have a nice walk again in a bit and go to nose work class. Stuff we love to do together with Mom.
Some great ideas of how to celebrate:-)
I did that with my grampy last week. We bought food and treats and brought it to a private shelter. Fortunately they only had 5 dogs there, that’s a record during the holiday-season. we bought too much things, but so the 5 dogs can celebrate an all you can eat pawty now.
That’s PAWsome and only 5 dogs. We hope they find their forever home soon.
Thanks for the tips Sugar! Every day should be dog day! Love Dolly

I think the best way to celebrate is just to spend time with your dog … going for a long walk, playing fetch, hanging out together while watching a movie. What they want most is our time.
What a great way to spend the day. Maya and Pierson just got their usual walks and treats. It was cooler today so the walk was actually more enjoyable than as of late.
Great post! We ran around and played in the muddles after the big storm today. Then played some Agility with the girls and some friends, and then everyone got baths. 🙂 Happy National Dog Day Miss Sugar! <3
