Dog Safe 2-Ingredient Ice Cream

August 12, 2014

Last weekend, Sugar celebrated her 13th Barkday.
Sugar had a DELISH! Ice Cream treat, Banana Blueberry.
On our previous post, Can Dogs Have Ice Cream?, we indicated that regular ice cream contains dairy. Many dogs are lactose intolerant. Also, regular ice cream may contain xylitol which is extremely dangerous for dogs.

Homemade ice cream is safer and healthier.
Ice cream that you can share and enjoy with your dog.

Dog Safe 2-Ingredient Ice Cream

Banana Blueberry Ice Cream

Ingredients: 2 Frozen Bananas and 1/2 cup of Blueberries
Makes: 10 small scoops
For a creamy ice cream , use brown spotted bananas. Optional: cut the bananas into small pieces before freezing. Freeze the bananas and blueberries for 2-3 hours or overnight.

Place the bananas and blueberries in a blender or food processor. We have a Ninja machine, a powerful blender, which allows the frozen bananas and blueberries to puree into a consistency of ice cream. It takes some time for the frozen bananas and blueberries to be smooth and creamy.
You can serve it immediately as a soft creamy ice cream. If you prefer a firmer consistency, freeze it for an hour then serve.
