Travels With Casey is written by Benoit Denizet-Lewis, a writer for New York Times magazine and assistant professor at Emerson college. Denizet-Lewis started in the prologue ” I don’t think my dog likes me very much.”
Man and Dog Travels Together.
Denizet-Lewis packed a rented RV and took his dog Casey, Lab/Golden Retriever mix, on a long journey of 13,000 miles in 4 months. They visited 32 states and stopped at various places that were dog related like dog show, police dogs, pampered pets, dog rescuers and healers. They learned many things about themselves, others dogs in America and the human-dog bond effect. Be prepared to laugh and sob. I was intrigued reading the section where Benoit and Casey met the “dog-poop lady.” Also, I enjoyed the chapter in which Casey gets a little sister and love how it ended with a quote, “Maybe the reason you’re paired with him is so you can learn to give him unconditional love. maybe Casey is here to teach you how to love.”
Travels With Casey is very well written and a delightful book to read. Denizet-Lewis has a wonderful way with words. He is provoking and entertaining through his journalistic style of narration, There’s lots of LOVE in Travels With Casey. A must read for every dog lover. Golden Woofs gives Travels With Casey 4 Golden Paws Up. Travels with Casey is available on Amazon.
After reading Travels With Casey, it makes me think of my travels and relationship with Sugar.
I know her “Woofs! Woofs!” mean more than “give me a treat” 🙂

Benoit Denizet-Lewis and Casey just ended their Travels With Casey book tour. They ended it at St. Louis, MO. During their travels, Benoit and Casey stopped in St. Louis and met with Randy Grim, founder of Stray Rescue. Randy rescues strays and neglected animals from one of America’s most dangerous neighborhoods. Benoit Denizet-Lewis and Casey are raising money to help out Stray Rescue. We invite you to check out DreamFund Stray Rescue. Also, if you are in social media, let’s help Benoit and Casey spread the word …

Just finished this book and really enjoyed it. Stray Rescue St Louis is my favorite rescue, so I especially loved Benoit’s visit with Randy Grim.
Sounds like an excellent book! Oh, how Ma would love to have a RV and travel like that. Maybe someday. I tweeted! You gotta show me how to put one of those tweety things in my post!

We travel with our dogs all the time and it’s one of our favorite things to do as a family! My husband and I are still young, but when we retire, we dream of owning an RV and touring around with our canine companions! 🙂 This book sounds like one I need to pick up!

My dog Nika loves to travel. She always runs to the car to go with us. She loves sitting on pillows in the front so she is high enough to look out the windows. We would love to read about the travels of Casey.

Name reminds me of Steinbeck’s Travels with Charlie.
Look forward to read. Have camper, have lab/golden mix Service Dog. Brooklyn and I go everywhere together.
For fourteen years I never travelled anywhere without my dog Tidbit. Now that she’s gone I travel alone–until I find that dog that touches my heart and becomes the newest family member in my home. I would love to read “Travels with Casey.”
It sounds like a really good book!! 😀
Mr. N usually travels with us. He’s been to the beach and flown on a plane.
Not really- I don’t leave them behind, I just don’t travel much. They come on day trips with me, though.
Oh my gosh yes, she goes everywhere with me <3
yes when posible
We don’t usually travel with our pets.
Gumbo and I take day trips together. She is still a little too hyper to spend the night at a hotel. It would be awesome to travel in an RV with her though! Maybe someday!
