One of Sugar’s favorite special occasion homemade dog treat is meatball. For the past weeks, Sugar’s Barkday Turkey Meat has been trending and many are re-creating the recipe. It inspired me to create Turkey Bites with WellyChef.
WellyChef is a product of WellyTails. WellyChef is a dog food mix for fresh meat. WellyChef contains chia seed and different kinds of dehydrated fruits and vegetable, like apple, pumpkin, carrot, sweet potato, blueberry, cranberry, cabbage, tomato, broccoli and zucchini All great ingredients but Sugar does not eat raw food.
So we’ve checked with WellyTails if WellyChef can be used to make dog treats.
“Some had made bake loaves and ball sized treats. The baking heat will not create any harmful products. Only some vitamins would be reduced however they are at a high level and I assume it is as a “treat” basis. So yes OK to experiment baking with it – ADD eggs as a binder.”
WellyTails do not recommend cooking the WellyChef if it is going to be served as a meal.
I gave it a try and I used cooked turkey meat to lessen the baking time.
Turkey Bites Dog Treats with WellyChef
Ingredients:

1/2 cheese
1 tbs WellyChef
1 egg
Direction: Mix the turkey meat with cheese and WellyChef then add the egg. Mix well. Form the meat into balls or use mini baking cups. Bake at 350 for 10minutes. Makes 11 Turkey Bites.
Served it as is or make it special…
