For the past days, I’ve been sharing ways to help great causes and animal rescue groups. Using ResQwalk is another way to help a rescue group. It will not cost you anything since all you need to do is walk your dog.
Based in New York City, ResQwalk is a mobile app that allows you to select a rescue group to help every time you go for a walk with your dog.
ResQwalk app is free and its available for iPhone and Android.
How does ResQwalk work?
5 Easy Steps to Help A Rescue with ResQwalk
1) You have to download the free mobile app, AppleStore or GooglePlay
2) Set-up your account and select a favorite rescue group from the list.
3) Start walking with your dog.
4) ResQwalk records the distance and time of your walk.*
5) Optional: Share your walk on social media, Facebook or Twitter.
*Each week, ResQwalk announces a donation pool (from corporate sponsorship and sales generated from ResQwalk app shop). You simply walk for your favorite rescue. Then, at the end of the week, donations are distributed to the rescues based on the total distance walked by the rescue supporters.
ResQwalk wants to keep exciting for every user and created a Weekly Rescue Challenges. From the weekly challenges, different groups are invited to partake and receive bonus money.
Also from the app Leaderboard, you can check how your favorite rescue group(s) are doing each week. If you don’t see your rescue group on the list, you can simply ask your rescue group to become ResQwalk Partner.
For the past weeks, on our casual walks I’ve been using ResQwalk. Sugar and I walk for the Golden Retriever Rescue and Adoption, Louisville KY. I’m actively helping local rescues and ResQwalk provides me an avenue to raise money for other rescues within the US & Canada.
Walk Your Dog, Help A Rescue
For sure you walk your dog. Walking your dog is a great way to keep you and your dog healthy. It also builds a stronger relationship between you and your dog.
We invite you to check out ResQwalk.com and download the app. Connect with ResQwalk on Facebook and Twitter. If you encounter any issues with the app, you simply click the Help & Feedback from the main navigation screen. You can directly send an email message to the ResQwalk team, who were responsive and very helpful when I needed help.
“Our vision is to give people a platform that enables them to easily integrate “giving” into their daily routine. Often people don’t have the time to foster a cat, the space to adopt a dog, or time to volunteer. ResQwalk gives everyone the opportunity to help animals in need on a daily basis without disrupting their regular schedules.”

what an awesome app
Interesting…I like WoofTrax, same idea.
We looked into this but our big concern is we couldn’t find any information about how much was actually given to the rescue groups – they really need to give a breakdown of the actually money sent to the groups. The other concern we have with such programs is how secure the information is….how easy would it be for someone to work out you have a pattern for walking every day….thieves could use that information to break into your home when you are out.
Hi – I am the founder of ResQwalk. To answer your questions:
1. Amount of money that has been given to each rescue is reflected on the rescue profile pages within the app. We also pay out money on a weekly basis to the groups via paypal. So there is no waiting.
2. We don’t use / distribute any information on our users. We require people login w/ Facebook / Twitter in order to validate that miles walked are being logged by actual humane and not bots. This is necessary in order to maintain the credibility of our donation distributions.
3. Theives. Don’t worry about this. The app doesn’t post anything about your walks – nor do we store where you walked. We don’t care where you went – just how far / how many miles you logged for your rescue.
Any additional questions, please feel free to email me directly at bailey@resqthreads.com.
Best,
Bailey

ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
I always thought like this sounded like a great, easy way to help animals in need.
Most of us are out walking our dogs every day anyway, so why not help dogs in need at the same time? I know a few people who use the Map My Run app to track distances on walks/runs for personal use. They could just as easily use this app to track distances for personal use, right?
