The taping of CW Network World Dog Awards was held Saturday, January 10th at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA. I’m honored to be one of the 15 press (only dog blogger) invited to the “green carpet” (yup! not red carpet) event.
It was raining like cats and dogs 🙂 and so glad I left Sugar at home. The green carpet event was set-up in a covered heated tent. It was exciting to see Golden Woofs assigned spot. This is my 1st CA Hollywood press event. It was a privilege to conduct an up-close interview with the dog stars (and their entourage) and of course the Hollywood celebrities.
World Dog Awards Green Carpet Event
The 1st dog star that walked the green carpet was Lassie, World’s Most Famous Dog. Lassie is so sweet and very poised on the green carpet.
Cooper is one of the dogs in the Budweiser commercial. Friends are Waiting.

Bodhi, Instagram-famous Shiba : Menswear Dog, looks very debonair with his custom made shirt and bow tie. According to Bodhi’s pet parents, Bohdi is philosophical. His favorite thing to do is look at the window and watch people. Bohdi’s pet parents brought out his personality by dressing him up.
3 year old Hank is the Dog of the Year. He was dashing in his tuxedo. Hank used to be a stray dog on one of the training baseball fields. Hank melted everyone’s heart and was rescued by the team. Hank is officially the mascot of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Golden Doodle Clover is well loved by the McKenzie family. Clover is a diabetes awareness dog to 6 year old River Mckenzie. Clover has been trained to detect (through breath scent) problems with River’s blood sugar. Clover deserves to win the Super K911 Dog of the Year.
Woofs! to French Bulldog DJ Mama. LOL! His favorite music are hip-hop and loves Jay Z.
Adorable actor and model Jiff did not walk the green carpet. He brought his own chair that was moved for each press location to take photos. I wanted to interview Jiff but I was told no interview and was provided a business card from his PR Management.
Duke is the Mayor of Cormorant, a small village in Minnesota. Duke is 7 years old and won by a landslide. His main job is to keep the traffic going (which is not much) but in the Summer it gets busy. Duke is being compensated with free dog food for a year.
Junior Smokey, University of Tennessee mascot, is one of five finalists for the category of best mascot.
It was good to see Turbo-Roo, two-legged chihuahua with 3-D printed mobility cart. I 1st met Turbo Roo and his pet parents Ashley Looper and Ray Hurt at Purina. It was interesting to learn about the creation of Turbo-Roo mobility cart. Turbo-Roo has inspired many pet owners and has given hope to other pets with disability.
Of course our long time friend Tillman was present. We’ve known Tillman and his dad Ron since 2007 and they’ve come a long way. Tillman is nominated for his talent riding a skateboard.
Marti “Sandy”, golden retriever-chow mix, is the canine star in the movie Annie. Marti was in a shelter for a year and half before she was adopted. Marti’s trainer is renowned animal trainer Bill Berloni.
An award show is not complete without a Golden dog. Izzy is the Golden Retriever on You Tube that was overly excited seeing his dad after a 9 month deployment in Kuwait. Click Here to watch the video.
Peanut, the worlds ugliest dog, is nominated for dog of the year. Peanut’s pet mom Holly Chandler rescued him last year, after he was set on fire as a puppy. Peanut was nominated because he brought awareness and raised funds for animal abuse.
Giggy short for Gigolo is Lisa Vanderpump’s dog. Giggs appears from time to time with Lisa at RHOBH show. Giggy’s outfit is “more than a fashion statement.”
Paris Hilton brought her two new dogs Princess Paris Jr and Prince Hilton. According, to Paris they are amazing pets and “worth it” (since these dogs cost a lot).
My favorite celebrities at the event were Drew & Jonathan Scott, the Property Brothers from HGTV. Jonathan brought his 2 dogs, Gracie and Stewie. In his new home, he just installed a new pet door for Gracie and Stewie. “They love the door and they let themselves in and out as needed.”, according to Jonathan.
Due to the rain, the green carpet event went beyond the allotted time. Many Hollywood stars just walked the green carpet for photos only and had a short time to chat. I met and interviewed the most important celebrities of the night, the dog stars.
If you want to know the winners, make sure to watch the 1st World Dog Awards hosted by George Lopez on The CW Network Thursday, Jan 15th.

wow that was great to get the news directly from the green carpet! I don’t think that Peanut is ugly… he is special and for me he is a hero…like his mom.
Oh Sugar’s mom, well done! I told you you would make a great Paw-Parazzi! I’m so excited you got to mee The Property Brothers! We watch their show ALL the time and they seem super nice! Also LOVE seeing some of BIll Berloni’s trained dogs there…he has been training dogs to be “Sandy” since the original Annie opened on Broadway! He also trains the Totos for the new The Wizard of Oz Broadway shows. He rescues all the dogs and after their “work” is done, many get to retire to his ranch in Connecticut. He is a great dog-lover! Oh so many great celebs there…both human and canine. We are jealous you got to go!
Oz
that must of been so much fun
What a great group of dogs and sounds like a fun-filled and busy time-congrats on being the only dog blogger press!

I don’t know the majority of the people – but I know most of the dogs! Sandy has a special place in my heart <3 What a great experience to be there!
CLAPPING WILDLY WHAT GREAT PHOTOS AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING WE FELT JUST LIKE WE WERE THERE. SUGAR WE HAVE A Shiba Inu in our family. Howard aka Howie is absolutely adorable according to mom. He is owned by my mom and dad’s niece. He rarely barks and mom says he is very cat like. Mom is a huge fan of Drew and Jonathan and loved watching them build their new house.
Hugs madi your bfff
How much fun was that! You are one lucky pet blogger to be invited there. Hank from my home state was there, very cool! Thanks for sharing it was a blast!
What a pawsome event there Sugar. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
How fun that you got to go! Too bad there was no time for doggy socializing with Sugar. Maybe next time!
Lots of fun! I guess poor Sugar is out as the star of the blog right now. Hope she makes it back in soon.
How super cool! Seeing the Property Brothers live must have been great ~ our pack loves them :-))
Oh my dog… how COOL! I had to laugh out loud about Jiff… that is just too funny.
I’m totally jealous you got to go to that! It looks like a great time. I have a crush on the Scott brothers so it would be worth it for me just to see them not including all the great doggies.
I just saw the movie Annie and thought Sandy was a Shibu inu so thanks for clarifying what she is.
Wow, SO many amazing pup stories, and SO many great pups dressed up! Our favorite was Giggs. That purple outfit is insane! *wags* – Gilligan from WagsAhoy.com
Wow! That’s so cool! And way to represent us doggy bloggers!! Seriously, they were super smart to invite a dog blogger since this is the first I’ve heard of this event! Sounds super fun – and so many cute dogs!
What a fun event! We woulda thought Property Brother Jonathan would have a big dog…not little ones. 🙂
We sure enjoyed that, thanks so much for the terrific post. We sure enjoyed seeing Turbo-roo again!
Looks like such a fun event to attend! Hope you got some pawtographs!
What a pawsome opportunity!!!!
Oh my gosh, how fun! I’d love to meet Lassie one day, and I’d love to see my pups on the “Green Carpet!” Maybe a couple of Arizona blogging pups will be invited one day? 😉
Monty and Harlow
Very cool!! Look at all those famous dogs…Its really too bad that Sugar wasn’t there to sniff the behinds of the famous!! I think you can tell most about real character!
That sounds like it was so much fun! I will be sure and watch it tonight, Thanks for all of your pictures from the “Green Carpet”!
I just finished watching the show! OMD! How amazing for you to be able to attend the first ever World Dog Awards! I cried like a gazillion times! Did you get weepy? I kept looking for you in the crowd! Congratulations, I’m so happy for you!
I am going to add this link to my post tomorrow. ☺
How much fun was that?! Great pictures! I met Lassie (obviously another one) several years ago at a veterinary conference. How cool to meet ANY Lassie – a true star. 🙂
