I was pleasantly surprised to see many banana chews and chips in the store. Most of them contains many preservatives. Banana chews and chips are easy to make. You could use a dehydrator, but your oven is an alternative method. The trick is setting your oven at a low temperature. You can make delicious dried chewy fruit dog treats like bananas.
Sugar loves bananas, and it’s her favorite after meal treats. Bananas are a good source of fiber and minerals like potassium. Bananas is a great Kong stuffer or as-is. When bananas are dried, it’s sweeter and chewy.
Dried Chewy Banana Dog Treats
Ingredients: Bananas, optional: lemon and honey
1. Peel and cut in half length-wise
2. Lay slices on a cookie sheet, lined with parchment paper or silicon mat.
3. Optional: Brush each slice with lemon juice (to prevent browning)
4. Bake at 210F (or lower, depending your oven), for 1.5 hours (if you cook it longer it will be crunchy)
5. Optional: Drizzle some honey

we will try it, maybe that’s a way Easy will accept fruits…. If not, I can eat it too, right?
Have a super tasty tuesday!
We’ll have to try these too, I’m sure the furkids will love em and their so easy!
Oops~~~typo, they’re so easy 🙂
Simple and easy dog treats, though not all of mine enjoy bananas 🙂
We make banana chips in the oven with a bit of peanut butter powder on them. The only problem is they take a couple hours to dehydrate and we eat them all in about two seconds because they are so good.
Sugar always gets the very best treats!
Now that’s an interesting way to prepare a banana, Sugar! I bet they are DELISH. Happy Tasty Tuesday

These sound delicious and I’m wondering if some of the dogs that don’t like fresh bananas might really like these banana sticks! Haley will usually eat fresh banana, but I have a feeling she would go crazy over these when they’re dried. Thanks for the recipe!
Brilliant idea Sugar. My dad loves banana chips but says the ones in the store are tooooo sweet.
We’ll have to try this.
Hugs madi your bfff
Kilo loves banana. He has a tiny bit with his kibble and a teaspoon of yoghurt each morning. He also loves different smoothies and ice cream mixes. We’ll have to try these treats as I bet they’ll be a hit. X Susie and Kilo
Bentley and Pierre are huge fans of bananas chips. I’ll have to try the lengthwise slices for a change.

Yum! We’ll have to give these a try because Luna loves her bananas!
I’m definitely going going to try this one. Might try it as some training treats. Threats cost so much, but bananas aren’t too expensive.
I tried the chewy banana recipe, followed it to the letter. All I got were soggy banana slices..yuk. What went wrong???
Your banana might be too ripe or you did not cook it enough. You can change the temp: high for 300 in the beginning then lower it at 250. It also depends on how you cut the bananas.
I’m going to test different ways (cut and time) and will share it again on a blog post. Thank You.
Hi Sugar,
Can you tell me how long they last? I have a team called “Scootch’s Scrumptious Snacks” (Scootch is my dogs name) for Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society, and was thinking of making these. Can you store them in the freezer or refrigerator?
Thanks,
Tammy (and Scootch)
OMD! These look so good! Oscar will be lucky if he gets any from me!
Will I be seeing you at BlogPaws? If you’re looking for me, Gina and I will be at the nearest food table 🙂
Prudence will LOVE these! We’ll try them soon and let you know! Thanks for the recipe!
