Love meeting fellow dog moms, especially golden retriever moms. It was an honor to meet Pamela Pettyan, co-founder of Caru Pet Food at Global Pet Expo. Pamela is dog mom to Karu, a golden retriever and the inspiration of Caru Pet Food. When Pamela and husband Adrian adopted Karu, they thought he would be a therapy dog at their medical clinic. Unfortunately, Karu suffered from terrible ear infections. Many of the typical medications did not work until Pamela transitioned Karu to homemade cooked meals. Instantly, Karu’s ear infections started to clear up. Karu’s new job as CTO, Chief Taste-testing Officer, began at Caru Pet Food. Caru means “to love” in Welsh. Pamela and Adrian named Karu with a “K” to be unique.
May is a month filled with love and honoring special people like dog moms. Below is my interview with Pamela, dog mom to Karu.
Q. Share 3 great things being a dog mom to Karu.
A. 1. Wet slobbery kisses
2. Being awoken in the middle of the night by panting, asking for a cuddle
3. Unconditional Love
Q. How does Karu inspire you?
A. Karu inspires me daily with his sweet loving personality. He has such a happy personality; he is really a joy to have around. I find that he inspires me to:
Show love to those near and dear to us. Karu is always happy to see ‘his’ people. He actually sings (with a stuffed toy in his mouth, of course) when ‘his’ people come over to the house. He always greets them with such love and excitement. This teaches me to not take for granted the time we have with our loved ones.
Be more physically fit. Without Karu in our lives, Adrian & I would not be nearly as energetic as we are. Having Karu encourages us to live healthy with going for walks, swimming, etc. Karu just loves being active, and he inspires me to be active too, even when I really don’t feel like it.
Play more. Karu is always keen for a good game of the ‘monster is coming to get you’ or ‘let’s go hide on Daddas’. He often hides on the stairs and growls at us to come and get him and then he takes off running and spinning around in circles. He thinks that is tons of fun. If Karu, has taught me nothing else, he has taught me to always make sure that every day has some play time mixed in with all the other demands of the day.
Q. What gifts would Karu give to you if he could?
A. If Karu could give me a gift, I definitely think he would cook or bake me something. As a golden, he is food obsessed, so I’m sure he’d make me something special for Mother’s Day for all those times that I sneak him a little taste test of new CARU recipes, etc.
If Karu were not baking me a treat, I could definitely see him buying me new running shoes, so that I had no excuse not to take him for long walks. Karu loves his walks and always does a happy dance when he sees us putting on our running shoes, as he knows that means good times are coming!
Lastly, I think Karu would buy me a pot of flowers for the garden. Karu always stops and smells the flowers in the garden. He’s really quite cute with his flower sniffing. So I think he would give me a pot of flowers, so that I could enjoy the little things in life as much as he does.
Last Mother’s Day, Pamela and Karu spend the day in the garden, getting the plants ready for the summer season. Karu helped dig and weed the flower beds. Karu was rewarded for all his hard work with a long walk with Pamela and Adrian, and a delish CARU Stew meal.
Pamela and Karu would like to reward one of our readers with CARU Stew meal. Read our previous post: 10 Reasons Why Caru Natural Stews For Dogs is Nourish with Love. Lots of Golden Thanks, Pamela and Karu. Sending you both Lots of Golden LOVE ❤
