I previously shared that Sugar has a drinking problem … Sugar does not drink much water. At home, she drinks filtered water. Sugar refuses to drink water in parks fountain, so I always have bottled water. Sugar is a picky drinker, and I’ve been creative enticing her to drink more water (which I’ll be sharing on a future post). If you follow our blog, you know that Sugar loves bananas, so I flavored her water with ginger and banana. From what I read, Banana Tea is a common drink that many adults enjoy before bedtime. According to Dr. Oz, it’s a “sleeping pill in a peel.” For additional soothing effect, I added ginger.
Ginger Banana Tea
Ingredients: 1 Banana, 1/2 Tsp. Fresh Grated Ginger
Boil water. Cut off both ends of banana, and then cut in half. Place the banana and ginger in water. Boil for about 10 – 15 minutes.
Turn off the heat. Put the lid on it and let it steep for 10 minutes. Strain the water and pour into a mug. You can refrigerate overnight.
Serve it with small frozen banana cubes.
A tea that you can enjoy with your dog.
It never ceases to amaze me how very much Sugar loves to pose!! Sugar NEVER takes a bad photo…ever!! This tea sure sounds delicious!!
We are all heavy drinkers and heavy sleepers at my house. Mom spends half her day refilling water bowls, and refilling her own water bottle. Hope the tea gets Sugar to drink more as drinking is healthy.
I will try it… maybe Dr Oz is right (and he always is LOL) and I can sleep better? Maybe I even can kick that pills away when we have such a tea time before we go to bed? That would be pawsome! Many thanks for a fabulous idea!

Interesting! Slim Doggy just posted about ginger being an anti-inflammatory. Pawsome!
Sounds de-lish!
Oh, this sounds so good. Will definitely have to try it for my Sibes and me! Sometimes my RA and Fibromyalgia prevents me from sleeping…and since I’ve opted for the holistic treatment route, this is something I would like to try – and it sounds tasty, too! Thanks, Sugar!
SUGAR WHAT A WONDERFUL AND INFORMATIVE POST. MOM OFTEN HAS SLEEPING ISSUES. BUT THANKFULLY I DON’T (i CAN SLEEP STANDING UP). AND I LOVE MY FRESH FLOWING WATER…

Very cool. Sugar looks great. Sounds delicious and healthy. Kilo loves bananas and fruit. I’ll have to do more research on ginger. X Susie
What a tasty drink I bet she loved it.
What a great idea!! Thanks so much for sharing it!

What a very cool, ingenious idea! Our boy Buzz has a tendency of not drinking enough, and both of our pups are water snobs… their Daddy says they got it from their Mommy 😉 I will try your banana ginger tea with the pups!
Mmmm! This sounds delicious, I’ve never heard of banana tea, somehow! I have adorable baby bananas right now, as well as some ginger tea. I don’t know if my dog will drink it, but I’ll have to try. I’ve never thought of giving her tea, I worry about her hydration because we live in California and it’s already sooo hot out!
What a great idea! I look for ways to “trick” Luna into drinking more as well. She isn’t picky as much as uninterested. We had a scare about a year ago when she got too dehydrated, so it’s a top concern now.
This sounds like a great idea for me and my humans!

How much water and do you peel the banana?
