to save a life, is the main reason, to give a pet a life, and to give me another child to love and shower with love.
One should rescue from a shelter to save a life!
Rescue a dog, you’ll have a great bargain. My 4 rescued dogs keeps me alive and relaxed and somewhat sane. There is just something special about the personality of mixed breed dogs you find in shelters. Either they are just more well-rounded due to the diversity of their genes, or maybe they are just continually joyful for having been saved. I call my dogs ‘hybrids’ instead of mutts or mixed breeds.
Just one?!?! To save a life… to bring joy to your life… to help reduce the pet population… to give a dog a second chance… to give a dog their best chance at life… to provide the forever, loving home every pet deserves… I could go on and on. 🙂
As a former shelter worker, I believe more than anyone that adoption is the way to go. Rescued pets are grateful for their pawrents in a way that is indescribable.
The reason to adopt from a shelter or rescue is to give
an animal another chance in life.Rescued pets are most thankful
for the chance to give back.
I’m not entering the contest because Mike and I have everything we need and somebody else might be adopting, but I have to say that ‘rescuing’ Señor Mike the Senior Dog was the best thing that ever happened to me. He saved me right back.
Rescuing a dog is the best thing ever! I rescued Luna because I wanted to save a life, but I also wanted a special dog who really broke the mold. And Luna does just that, but she also saves me every single day.
They aren’t coming from someone that only cares about money. Just saw some dachshunds on facebook for $450. no way.
There are so many wonderful dogs (and other animals) at shelters. All they want is a chance to prove what a great friend and companion they can be. The love and friendship they give is something you’ll never get anywhere else. It’s unconditional.
We just adopted Stryker from Houndhaven Inc. Adopting a rescue dog has been a wonderful experience! He is such a great dog that sat at the rescue for over 5 months… he was just waiting for us I guess!! We need more people to rescue dogs from shelters…. to stop the horrible puppy mill breeders and save these wonderful dogs that are out there. You will get nothing but unconditional love in return!
You are saving a pet’s life.
I adopted Kita 13 years ago and lost her 2 years ago, but I really think when they are adopted they really appreciate being with you more than if they are not. Til the day she died Kita always let me know how appreciative she was.
The easiest reason in the world- you’re saving a life.
Some of the best furchildren I have had are ones that I have adopted.
I have to agree with the others…some of the very BEST dogs I have had have been the ones that I have rescued…either from a shelter … or from Bichon Rescue. Appreciation showed in their eyes every single day! Saving a life…nothing better!!
there are so many loving animals in shelters, it breaks my heart. we rescued two last year and i hope to rescue more as soon as we get our puppy trained.
Mom has rescued us three pugs right from a terrible puppy mill, she said it has been the best learning and loving experience that ever happened to her. She just wishes she could bring more home.

There are ton’s of reason’s to adopt a pet, but I love the fact that your saving a life.
Helping to reduce our homeless pet population through adoption is incredibly important. It allows shelters & rescue groups to maintain their resources, it helps our community, it helps pups to find their forever homes and it helps the adopter and their family to add to their loving family – win/win for all!
The best reason is to save a life!
I have done it. You are saving their life and giving them a forever home.
You are saving a life of a wonderful dog….you don’t know the dog’s story but they all deserve a chance in a new loving home. We rescue a dog that was abused and he is the most lovable dog. It was like oh thank you for adopting me and giving me a furry brother and a loving family. Dogs are family!
I feel that every animal deserves a loving home.
There are so many dogs and cats in need of homes from shelters and rescues that I sincerely hope one day everybody considers adopting from there first.
One should rescue from a shelter to save a life! Ive done it twice
I adopt because I want to save a life and gain a new best friend!
I am celebrating national dog day with my dog, His name is “Rock” 🙂
Adoption saves pet lives and shelter pets are awesome! All of my fur babies are from my local shelter.

Petmate’s products are really good.
I a using petmate’s products for my dog 🙂
Adopting from a shelter can save you money when it comes time to neuter the pet.
We adopted both of our dogs and they make great pets. You save a life when you adopt and the fees you pay go to help other pets that need help.
When looking for a pet you should always visit the local rescues and shelters first to see if your new buddy is waiting for you there. There are a lot of great pets that need new homes.
All of my pets have been rescues – I feel that’s the best way because they’re so appreciative. I especially love adopting older pets because often they’ve been mistreated and provide them the affection, safety and fun every pet deserves.
I think anyone looking for a new pet should consider adopted from a shelter, most shelter pets are spayed and nuetered or will have low cost programs for that. It helps keep the unwanted pet population down.
There are so many great pets looking for good homes in shelters. By adopting you give a much needed home to a pet and save a life 🙂 Plus if you adopt a dog or cat from a shelter they come “fully loaded” – with all shots up to date, fixed, microchipped, etc. This would cost you so much more than the adoption fee if you had to get these things done on your own. It’s a win-win 🙂
Because these are the animals that need the most love and are very appreciative of love given to them once adopted. They don’t forget.
ADOPT DON’T SHOP! RESCUE SAVES LIVES! The animals in these shelters are counting on us! We are literally their only hope. Having been to several of the most heinous kill shelters in LA, there is no way I could or would ever get an companion any other way! RESCUE RULES!!!
There are too many great animals who need a home. All of our pets have come from the shelter.
Saving a life, opening ones heart to the homeless – best money spent paying for the adoption fees
It is so important so many wonderful animals just waiting to be loved find a forever home you save a life when you adopt from a shelter
To save a life and gain a best friend!
I have worked in two shelters, one was a no kill, much better option. The other one I really tried to match possible owners with the right dogs. It is sad. I think people need to get educated on reed type of animals that they are best suited to, so more animals don’t end up in a shelter or returned to shelters. Take a class with your dog, great for bonding & safety.
I don’t understand why anyone would buy a dog or cat when millions of them die in shelters every year. All my furbabies are rescues and they are the most loving dogs and cat

YOu have to adopt from a shelter because these doggies would not have a chance otherwise. Thank you
I have 3 dogs that we adopted from a shelter and they are truly a blessing. Giving these beautiful animals a chance at a happy home is the best feeling in the world
Adopting a pet from a shelter or rescue saves more than one life. You provide a home for the adopted pet and it makes space in the shelter for another animal in need.
Adopt from a shelter/rescue to save the life of an animal needing a home and to open up a space for another needy animal in that shelter/rescue. Thousands of animals are euthanized in shelters every day. As a shelter volunteer, it is heartbreaking to see so many animals needing good homes – PLEASE adopt!
All of our dogs are rescue. We think they make the best pets. Unconditional love and you are potentially saving a life.
Because I believe that everyone who wants a pet should adopt. its the kind thing to do, I dont want to support animal mills that exploit animals for breeding purposes… Specially when there are perfectly healthy ones waiting to be adopted. So many lives could be saved daily if we did just that. I love my adopted babies & they know it. 😀
We adopted Chaos from a rescue. She was abandoned behind a grocery store. She is an adorable red nose pit. She is beautiful and an amazingly well behaved baby. She is our biggest dog, but she is the baby. She needed a home to call her own and since we’ve got her that’s exactly what she has. 🙂
Because they deserve love and a forever home! They will always love you for saving them.
Because they need a home and could be “put down” (aka killed!) otherwise, if they don’t find a home. We have 2 rescued kitties. Thanks and God bless!
