Sugar loves car rides. I always take her along to places wherever possible. My car has a beige leather interior that can easily get dirty and harder to clean. I used to have a black dog seat cover for Sugar. Due to warm weather, the black color absorbed more heat and made it uncomfortable for Sugar. Solvit Sta-Put Hammock to the rescue.
Dog Car Seat Cover: Solvit Sta-Put Hammock
The Solvit Sta-Put Hammock is made with super soft micro-suede fabric. One side of the fabric is quilted and padded which provided Sugar an extra comfortable cushion. This cover is not waterproof, a disadvantage having a quilted fabric. However, it is treated with Stain-Blok™ to resist spills and stains.
Easy to Install Solvit Sta-Put Hammock
Solvit Sta-Put Hammock dog seat cover is super easy to install. It has four adjustable web straps that are used to hang around the front and back headrests. It is also equipped with two short piece plastic tubing, Sta-Put™ devices, used to keep the cover in place.
Other Features: Solvit Sta-Put Hammock
The two side vents help to fit properly the dog car seat Hammock on my car. The two storage pockets on the non-quilted fabric are pawfect to store Sugar’s leash and poop bags. It’s hard to find a dog seat cover that offers slits to allow seat belt buckles to pass through. Sugar wears a travel safety harness, and these slits are helpful.
Dog Car Seat Cover is the Solution!
I’ve been using Solvit Sta-Put Hammock for the past three weeks. Sugar had gone to the beach twice. The Solvit Sta-Put Hammock dog car seat cover protected my beige leather back seat. I was able to wipe off some dirt particles. I’ve washed the hammock with mild detergent, placed in the dryer and it retained its size.
Protect your car, a dog seat cover is a must.
The Solvit Sta-Put Hammock definitely provided protection on my back seat. However, the two Sta-Put™ devices did not work well. Sugar can easily move the cover. I had to adjust the hammock manually once Sugar is secured (with her travel harness). Also, the oversized slits were too big which allowed for some dirt (sand) to go inside. I like the simplicity of Solvit Sta-Put Hammock, so I’ve been experimenting and finding simple solutions to these issues. I find that by placing a towel underneath the seat cover helps to keep the hammock in place and using tape to cover the extra slits kept the dirt on the hammock.

we don’t like the sling type covers much – mainly because we jump on the car floor first then the seat (the seat it to high for us to jump on straight away) and you can’t do that with a sling seat cover
One car has blankets, another has an old bed… we could really use this!
We sometimes use old blankets on the seat covers, or towels. It’s not entirely effective at keeping the seats clean…
I got an old car so don’t usually protect seats but I used to use old sheets.
seat covers
We sometimes use blankets, but not a lot.
We try to protect the seats with old towels or sheets, but they don’t do much to keep the wet and dirt off once we’ve been to the dog park or beach. Would love to see how one of these would help!
We always use seat covers or sheets- but there’s still fur everywhere!
I put down a blanket in the car.
I put a blanket on the entire back seat when my dog was going for her surgery.
i just vac after we go out
I don’t really worry about it. I have my furbabies ride in their carriers that I fasten in.
I put a towel down
That looks like a great idea!
my girls like to sit up front, so i put towels in the front seat, i have looked for a seat cover, but i have airbags in my seats so it is hard to find a one that works. i want one that is padded but waterproof and goes with my interior. my girls to wear seatbelts.
We protect the car interior by using a blanket or sheet.
We use an old sheet in the back seat.
We put a blanket down
Right now I don’t protect my car and it is disgusting.
Not very well…. we put the seats down and have them on top.
We use blankets
I don’t currently do anything to protect my car from dirt and dog hair, LOL. (Any passengers of mine need to just understand!)
I use a seat cover in my car for my dog and this is like that 🙂
We cover the seats with blankets and towels but this would work much better!
Right now I try to keep the car clean by just holding Mike on my lap, which is no good and not safe for him!
Right now I’m protecting my car with a beach towel. Not the best option, but it is better than nothing.
My seats are leather so they can be washed down but the black carpet is another story… it always looks terrible.
We usually just try to vacuum out our car once a week.
We normally just have a designated blanket that we lay down for trips with the pets
We are using fleece blankets in the car right now to protect our seats. They don’t stay on the back of the seats though so a car seat cover would work better 🙂
I use an old towel most of the time, sometimes a small throw blanket.
You can adjust the hooks so it would work on any size back seat. It also has these small weights that hold the cover perfectly in place and holes for the seat belts so you can secure the dogs safely.
Just yesterday, taking my Lab to the vet, I put down a very large towel…really doesn’t work.
I usually just throw down an old towel or blanket and hope for the best.
We lay a blanket down
I don’t really have anything for that currently. I just clean after the fact.
We put their dog beds in back when traveling and then I go and get my car cleaned because of all the dog hair
I don’t protect it – it’s a mess!
sometimes I throw a blanket down
As of now nothing. we deal with it.
We have a blanket we use. When he is out of the car I immediately wash it and dry it.
We try a blanket but my siberian always takes it off
As of right now we do not protect the car, we just grin and bear it and spend lots of time cleaning. Thank you
Usually an old towel that ends up on the floor
We just updated my vehicle to a Mazda 5. My old mini-van was full of dog and cat fur and definitely showed wear and tear. I really would love to protect the interior of my new van – between my own furbabies and the rescue dogs and cats I help transport, I could really use something like this.
We protect our car from dog dirt and fur with old blankets. Does a pretty good job, but doesn’t look the best.
