For the past months, we’ve reviewed 5 cars 1) Mitsubishi Outlander, 2) Mazda 3, 3) Toyota Camry, 4) Kia Soul, and 5) Hyundai Sonata Sport. On our car review posts, we shared dog-friendly features and emphasized the car’s comfort and convenience. Autotrader used the same standards for determining the best cars for dog lovers.
Criteria Selecting the 9 Best Cars for Dog Lovers
– A rear lift gate is crucial for being able to load your dog — or dog accessories — as easily as possible.
– Fold-flat seats are important for creating the largest possible interior space for your dog when you’re stopped.
– Rear cargo rings are important for making sure your dog’s crate stays put while the car is in motion.
– A low ride height helps dogs get in and out as easily as possible, especially when they’re very young or very old.
– Rear climate control can provide dogs with the cool air or heat they need to remain comfortable.
– A spacious back seat makes it easy for your dog to climb inside and for you to strap on a dog seat belt before setting off.

I would like the Jeep :o) …and I would like to add the mercedes b 180, the back seats are great for bigger dogs, it’s like sitting in a basket :o)
For sure it is a pretty car!!! BUTTTTT I, Madi, try to avoid riding in cars, cause it always ends with a trip to the vet. MOL MOL MOL My human sis has a new kitty…every so often she puts him in his carrier to just ride around so he doesn’t associated the car with bad things….
Hugs madi your bfff
I was waiting for the Honda Fit NOT to make the list, but I am THRILLED that they did. I have had two Honda Fits and LOVE THEM. Actually, I have ONLY driven Hondas since 1987 and that is all I will drive.
Prior to having my Honda Fits I had ALL Honda Civics…(rated one of the best cars EVER)………
I now lease my cars (since I don’t drive much any longer due to working from home) so I went with the Fit. There are so many features of the Fit that makes them superb for dogs. The back seats raise UP for more room, etc….the amount of room in the Fit is amazing.
Honda took a year off from making the Fits (I think that was in 2014) because the year prior to, they failed the safety tests. Honda took the year off to remedy all of the problems (I had one from the year they failed the test and traded in for a new 2015 a few months ago). I just love my Honda Fit and HONDAS PERIOD!

Interesting post! We have a Skoda Fabia, and it does us just fine, even though it isn’t exactly new!
Our mommy has an Edge and Daddy’s new Edge is being built this week so guess there might be a woofie sometime in our future – hopefully a long way away though!
We think the best car is our dad’s truck!

My previous car was a Mazda 3 hatchback. I now have a Subaru Forester, and I think it is perfect!
As a dog mommy of 3 (1 large, 1 medium and one small), I love my Nissan rogue- lots of space in the back with the seats folded down, high enough for the little guy to see out yet low enough for easy up and down and love the smooth ride
