Dealing with pet hair is part of dog ownership. How do I deal with pet hair in your home? I vacuum every day especially areas where my dog, Sugar, spends a lot of time. Thus, a good vacuum that can handle pet hair is a must. What is the best vacuum for pet owners?
Choose The Right Vacuum For Pet Owners
When Sugar joined our family, I invested on a very high-end and expensive vacuum. It lasted for 13 years (which many say it’s a good life for a vacuum cleaner). It did the job on cleaning both wood and carpet floors. However, I still struggled on handling pet hair (and human hair too) on the brushroll. A yearly service maintenance is needed (which added cost to my vacuum investment). I decided to donate our old vacuum when we moved to SoCal and bought a new one (which I eventually returned).
I had a hard time choosing the best vacuum cleaner. I read many vacuum reviews that state “few vacuum cleaners that really deliver what it promises.” One reason I was thrilled when Eureka contacted me to receive their new Eureka Brushroll Clean™ with SuctionSeal® in exchange for a review post.
No tools were needed assembling the Eureka Brushroll Clean™ with SuctionSeal®. It was a breeze and works exactly as promised. If you are a pet owner here are five features that we love about the Eureka Brushroll Clean.
5 Reasons Eureka Brushroll Clean The Vacuum for Pet Owners
1) Brushroll Clean Technology® – Goodbye to the tangled brushroll! The Eureka Brushroll Clean has a self-cleaning brushroll. It’s amazing! No need to use scissors to cut tangled pet hair away from the brushroll. Simply press the “pedal” for 10 to 15 seconds while the vacuum is running and tangles are removed immediately and placed directly into the canister. Poof! Every time your vacuum will have a clean brushroll, like-new.
Eureka Listens To Vacuum Consumers
One reason Eureka created Eureka Brushroll Clean with SuctionSeal® vacuum is that many pet owners struggled and used scissors untangling pet hair on their vacuum brushrool.
2) SuctionSeal® Technology with All-Surface Suction Plates – The suction of Eureka Brushroll Clean awesome. The powerful suction easily captures, suck away dirt and pet hair, without any scattering. The Eureka Brushroll Clean with SuctionSeal is also engineered with AirSpeed Technology. This technology allows to have an efficient air path in which increases the amount of airflow for powerful suction. It’s impressive and definitely a tough enough vacuum for pet owners.
3) Designed for All Surface Cleaning – It features a control dial for 5 levels of floor cleaning, from bare floors to high-pile carpet. Available attachments allow for deep cleaning, like your dog’s pet bed.
4) Convenient Cord Storage – It has a 39-foot reach system with a Smooth-Glide® pivoting base. The automatic cord rewind provides a quick and easy storage.
5) Worth It! – If you are looking for a new vacuum, purchasing a Eureka Brushroll Clean with SuctionSeal will be the best money you spend.
It cost $198 and SOLD Exclusively at Walmart. (Currently, Walmart is offering a $20.00 discount). Eureka Brushroll Clean is advertising that it “cleans carpets better than Dyson DC41”, which currently cost around $400. I love vacuuming and thrilled to use Eureka Brushroll Clean. I can’t say enough about how good it is including that a vacuum cleaner doesn’t always need to be expensive to be good.

How do you handle pet hair in your home? How often do you vacuum and do you struggle with pet hair tangling in your vacuum brushroll?
Wow- as a pet parent to a Pomeranian, we are ALWAYS looking for a better way to clean up pet hair. We actually have a Dyson vacuum which was a wedding gift- I am not impressed with how it works for how much it costs! This vacuum sounds much better- the tangled brush roll is the bane of my existence & I love how this vacuum rolls up the cord itself too.
Wow.. I’ve been looking for a new vacuum that can handle dog hair. This sounds like just the one I need! I’ve tried so many that either don’t do the job or break easily with constant daily use. The self cleaning brushroll sounds fabulous! And the retracting cord is a big plus too!
My dogs don’t really shed, but boy do they make a mess when coming
in from outside with grass and sticks that stick to their fur. I have been thinking
how much I need a new vacuum though, as I started trimming their hair and my
expensive cleaner does not have enough suction to do the cleaning.
OMD! Pugs shed like crazy, it is amazing the hair Mom vacuums up. And yes she struggles with the hair and stuff that gets stuck around the brush and does the scissors thing. A vacuum that takes care of that would be pawsome
we forgot to say we have a Dyson
Mr. N doesn’t really shed but my long hair is everywhere!
Uuuh, nice, I’ve been meaning to upgrade to a better vacuum cleaner than our old one! This one sounds like it would manage dealing with our two black pups’ hair 😉
With two long haired dogs, we vacuum daily and still struggle with hair getting tangled in the vacuum!
Oh my dawg Sugar! We need this thing cause mom could make wigs with our sheds
Lily & Edward
i really need a new vac cleaner. i only get pet hair around after i groomed them, my girls are mini schnauzers and dont really shed. they just bring in lots of things on their feathers and beards. pet hair does not tangle in vac, my girls tangle with the vac cleaner, they cant stand it, they bark at it constantly and it they see it out, they will bark at it. the try to bite it. i vac abt 1/wk but should do more, b/c i live on in the country off a dirt road, when i strip or clip them, i have hair everywhere so i try to groom them on the deck, but it blows inside or they bring it back in w/ their feathers. .
We try and handle the pet hair in our home by vacuuming regularly and use sticky and lint rollers. With multiple dogs I vacuum areas of the house at least twice a day and the whole house weekly. I do struggle with pet hair and long human hairs 🙂 tangling in our vacuum brushroll and have had to replace parts once.
4 paws for a super idea !!!
we don’t have carpet. I just have a couple of big rugs and they don’t really shed
I sweep everyday and I use a lint roller to try and pick up the tiny hairs stuck in the carpet and stairs. My dogs have very short fur and it sticks in but good to the carpet and furniture. Sometimes I need to use duck tape to go over the places where the hair is still in the carpet.
I used to go through a vacuum a year due to the amount of cat hair and litter I had to pick up but now I live in an old house with no carpet and it is easier to sweep up all the hair and litter and food but would still like a good vacuum to pick up the litter without me bending down.
With lots of tears and curse words, usually… having been a 4 dog household, and now a 3, we have a lot of hair…. even thought they are short-haired dogs, it seems the tumbleweeds are never ending. I confess that I do not vacuum as often as I should, but mostly because of frustrations with tangles. We’d LOVE to win this product!
We have two dogs so sweeping the floor is an every day thing and we vacuum the couches every weekend!
With six dogs, dog hair is a fact of life in my house. I just do a routine vacuuming and don’t worry too much about it being perfect. I HAVE had dog (& cat) hair accumulate on the brush. Very annoying!
We vacuum all the time and try and comb out our dog.
So much dog hair… dog owners need good vacuums!
Most everyday I vacuum and on floors without carpet, I sweep daily.
I try to keep Zu brushed and bathed, but her hair and mine still ends up all over the house so I have to vac a few times a week.
Every day!
My furry friend leaves her hair in unhandy places. LOL.
I usually end up brushing the couch both before and after I vacuum.
Thanks for the chance to win this.
Keeping my dogs and cats well groomed helps with keeping up with the hair.
I vacuum everyday. With 6 dogs, and several cats, it’s a must. I am always sitting on the floor pulling all the hair out of the brushroll.
How do i handle pet hair? The bigger doggy has the shed problem.. my little yorkie doesnt shed a hair. we have one of those de shedder tools we use quite often.. the carpet sees the brunt. why is he not bald? i vacuum everyday so i can see the color of the rug. No MY hair tangles up the brush..seems i have a shedding problem too.. i hafta turn over the vacuum and get out the scissors about once a month..wait why am i not Bald?
I brush her once a week and once or twice a week I vacuum. Need to pull hair off brush once in a while.
We are constantly sweeping up piles of hair left behind by our dog Charcoal as the vacuum just doesn’t do the job with the amount of hair she sheds!
I have a Golden Retriever and I have to pick up his hair by hand and vacuum every day
Now that we have two dogs…I find myself vacuuming and sweeping every day! Otherwise, we wind up with tumbleweeds of fur!
I struggle with my dogs hair, he has a lot! I have to vacuum often.
I vacuum alot to handle pet hair. I vacuum a few times a week and I do struggle with pet hair tangling in my vacuum brushroll.
I vacuum usually once a week and pull the hair out when it gets stuck.
I vacuum 3 days a week and the vacuum brushes are a real pain in the neck i have to cut the dog hair off!
Our pet hair problem is bad but I swear my girls and I shed more then the dogs. I vacuum 3 or 4 times a week. If their is a problem with my vacuum I know its hair wrapped around the brush or a clog.
Brushing my furry friends is the best way to keep on top of the pet hair…fortunately they enjoy it! I also vacuum every few days, and de-hairing it is always tough.
We handle it by vacuuming constantly.
I vacuum all the time and I actually have to cut the hair from the roller on the bottom of the vacuum. I also use a lint remover for spot treatments.
I vacuum daily. I have throws on the couches because the dogs get on them Those I wash weekly and vacuum the couch every couple of days U do have a problem with the dog hair clogging up the vacuum tube
We have pet hair everywhere! I vacuum daily.
I vacuum every other day. I love to snuggle with my girl daily. Thank you
Thank You for the giveaway…we keep the dog confined to the kitchen & family room, areas which have hardwood floors, so vacuuming 2-3 times a week keeps the pet hair in check (also helps that she is a short-haired breed); our vacuum handles the job for the most part re pet hair, it’s actually our two daughter’s long hair that can sometimes foul up the brushroll when we vacuum the remaining carpeted rooms & stairways !
With 3 dogs, a cat and a parrot I have to vacuum daily! We got rid of carpet and that helped a lot!!
I vacuum weekly and I yes I have to clean the rollers out all the time!! Thank you for the chance.
Yes, I do struggle with pet hair in my home and tangling in the vacuum. I vacuum weekly but should do more.
I usually vacuum the pet hair. I vacuum once a week and no I don’t have that problem!
Cat fur is a little bit of a problem and we brush the kitties often. We vac at least twice a week to get it up
I don’t currently have a pet in my home, but I have had issues before. I usually have to unplug and dig it out.
I have 2 lab/chow mixes who shed 12 months a year! I vacuum at least twice a week, and usually end up having to take the vacuum apart to get hair clogs out of the tubes. Frustrating and time consuming, but I wouldn’t trade my dogs for anything! 🙂
I use a dog comb to get the hair out of the brush right now….and just vacuum a lot!
I am constantly sweeping and vacuuming and the hair never goes away.
I always have to clean the bristle from the vacuum because the dog hair is always clogging and it is so annoying
We try and handle the pet hair in our home by not allowing our dog on the couch and vacuuming regularly. I end up vacuuming twice a week.
I vacuum daily….sometimes I use just the lightweight sweeper vacuum and some days I bring out the larger vacuum to control pet hair and dander as we have both carpet and hardwood floors. It’s essential with having a large breed/long haired dog and a cat.
We have two long-haired mixed breed rescue dogs. One is an Alaskan Malamute mix and the other is a golden retriever mix. We use lint brushes, a furminator, and the local groomer. We also have an old Kirby (1976) that we have to untangle every time we use it, but it does pick up the hair.
I do not handle pet hair well and the vacuum is a constant struggle.
I vacuum twice a week and I loose lot of hair and always gave to work to cut that hair off the roller.
My dog sheds quite a bit and the vacuum I currently own does not do a very good job. I have had to disassemble the unit several times to clean out the hair.
We sweep weekly. We vacuum sparingly because my older dog hates the sound.
1. I vacuum more than once a week, depending. We have 3 cats and a dog that sheds a lot.
2. Every single time I vacuum I have to sit down with it and clean out the brush roll. It is mostly our long hair that tangles it, and it’s a terrible inconvenience. I’m surprised it took this long for someone to make this!
We have two dogs who shed a lot so we try to vacuum and dust every other day to keep the dog hair at bay.
I used a shop-vac or just pick the hair up by hand. If I brushed Lady Girl more often I wouldn’t have to do this. Bad mommy 🙁 I don’t vacuum often enough and my vacuum does not have a roller brush.
I handle pet hair in my home by trying to vacuum routinely. I vacuum about once a week. I do not usually have a problem with hair tangling thankfully.
Our grumpy old man has a major issue with his hair shedding. Everywhere we go we find his hair. If we are not careful, it is all over us before we leave the house. Thank you
We struggle with dog hair on a daily basis…I should vacuum daily, but its more like every two or three days here. Our vacuum does not do well with the dog hair, so sometimes I will use a hair brush to try to rake up some of the hair down in the carpets
I vacuum about once a week – which is not enough! I vacuum the carpet, wood floor, and couches. The vacuum brush is constantly getting stuck with hair. I have to get out the scissors and try to get it all out which is such a pain!
I vacuum every other day and yep constantly need to get hair off of the roller
I have too huskies and there hair ruibs my vacuum have to get new one every year. I vacuum 2x daily
Even though my pup has short hair, there is still fur EVERYWHERE. We Swiff and vacuum weekly (that’s not even enough!!). My poor vacuum cleaner is not nearly powerful enough to handle all the dog fur which is why we hardly use it (and are entering this generous giveaway!).
I cover the furniture while I am gone during the day to keep the hair off of the furniture and have to vacuum every other day.
My dog doesn’t have long hair, but fur seems to get on the rug anyway. I use an upright cheap vacuum once a week. Doesn’t really get up all the fur, though! I hope I win this vacuum!!
My vacuum gets stuck with the dog hair jamming the roller all the time. I board dogs in my home. So it varies the amount of dog hair. However, If I do not vacuum everyday my home looks as if it is flocked.
I vacuum every day because I have lots of paws who live in the house. My vacuum does fine on hard floors but not that well on carpets. This Eureka vacuum would definitely help my entire house look good!
With a long hair dog and long hair cat and a bird with a lot of feathers, I vacuum 2
to 3 times a day. If not my house would be a mess. Their hair gets tangled up all the time
I have to clean the rollers all the time.
We vaccum carpet weekly and sweep wood floors almost daily to control pet fur and feathers!
I recently discovered the reason out vacuum wasn’t doing as good of a job was that the brushroll was covered with human hair and dog and cat fur and did as best I could. but couldn’t get all of it.
I don’t have a pet, but my daughter has 5 cats and 2 dogs. This would be for her. She tried everything to get rid of pet hair.
I ignore the dog hair and pretend I don’t see it.
Well, with four dogs, three cats, three female humans with long hair, and the sewing and crafts done by those female humans that leave pieces of thread and tiny scraps of fabric on our floors, keeping our floors clean is a full-time job. I’ve bought many spare belts for my vacuum cleaner after the girls would use it without first cleaning the beater brush and having it jam with all that hair and stuff wrapped around it. A vacuum with a self-cleaning brushroll would be amazing! I’ve actually started using a stiff broom on my carpets before I vacuum to get up as much of the hair and stuff that I can before I go back over with the vacuum
With 2 dogs, I have to vacuum at least once a day.
i have two GSDs, one is a long haired GSD. I vacuum twice a week and am always cleaning the vacuum rollers out!
I have a long haired beagle terrier mix and we try to vacuum regularly to help with shedding
I vacuum about twice a week and usually have to clean the brush from our hair and out little dog’s hair too. I hate cleaning the brushes too! This sounds great!
1. Pet hair has become a part of our life lol! It decorates our floor. We brush mo weekly but still there is hair everywhere.
2. I vaccum once or twice a day and yes sometimes his hair gets stuck in the bristles!
I don’t have any pets so I only vacuum every few weeks. We only have carpet in the family room and all the bedrooms and rec room downstairs
I have to vacuum every day or every other day and use the dust buster on furniture
I vacuum at least once a week and sometimes more. I also use a swiffer on the hardwood floors and have to vacuum the furniture to get the hair off of it. Our dogs are short hair so we don’t have trouble with tangling but just huge amounts of short hair.
I vacuum weekly. The pet hair gets caught in the roll all the time and is everywhere!
I brush my dogs and cats and vacuum twice a week. And it’s not their hair that clogs up the roller, it’s my long hair…maybe need to clean every 3 months.
I have a hoover and it horrible. With 7 cats (1 extremely long hair) my house would be a giant fuzz ball. I have to go over my home twice a day. I need a good attachment that goes over furniture also.
To be perfectly honest, with our wholly inadequate vacuum cleaner ~ I don’t even try! The way I clean the rugs (even before I even TRY vacuuming) is on my knees with a BRUSH and COMB! It’s a real drag but it works better than any vacuum cleaner we have! (And it’s easier than trying to clean the roller/brushes on the vacuum cleaner!
I did vacuum anywhere from one to three times a week. With a house full of rescued dogs and cats in a Vegas summer a lot of shedding happens, which is probably why my vacuum just broke. Before the vacuum broke the pet hair was dealt with by regular vacuuming, sweeping, and grooming of the pets. The vacuum did have to regularly be taken apart to clean out all the hair and free it from the spinning brush before it broke.
I vacuum about once a week and I also use a lint brush on furniture.
I don’t handle the pet hair well it stresses me.. My vacuum will not pick up the hair it just clumps it up all over the floor.. Makes me crazy.. The brush gets so much hair in it I am constantly stopping to pull out all the hair..
I vacuum just about everyday, I have two very furry dogs and have to keep up with the shedding. Yes I absolutely deal with dog hair tangling in the brush of my current quite frequently.
i don’t vacuum as often as i should about once a week but i should do daily with the dog in the house. i have to clean out the vacuum when i do vacuum so the hair doesn’t get tangled on the roller bar.
I have to vacuum at least every other day! I have never had trouble with the fur clogging the roller.
To keep pet hair at bay I brush his hair daily and yes my vaccum gets its brissels tangled with pet hair!!
Oh and I vacuum once a day!!!
I have 3 cats so have to vacuum every single day…The hair does get caught in the roller so I clean that every week..it’s a never ending battle it seems
I vacuum it up with my dyson but it does clog up the brush roll.
i sweep weekly and the hair from my dogs does get caught
We handle pet hair by regularly brushing the cat. It really does help but not enough. We currently vacuum twice a week, sometimes more. Depends on how bad it gets.
I sweep and vacuum almost all the time to manage the hair and yes it does get tangled in my brush and in my broom!
We vacuum twice a day and need to untangle pet hair from the roller about every other month.
I find that using a damp rubber kitchen glove is pretty effective. Just rub your gloved hand across the couch or carpet & it all comes together in a ball.
I probably don’t handle pet hair in my home as well as I should. I am not exactly a neat freak, I try to be just a step above messy and untidy 🙂 Most people that know me, know that I run a busy household with multiple animals and people and, while having a pleasant, inviting house is something that I strive for, having a spotless house is something I gave up on a long time ago. I do try to vacuum at least once a week and yes, I always have issues with pet hair wrapping up in my vacuum cleaner, my furniture, my carpet and my everything..
1) How do you handle pet hair in your home? We currently have a Dyson.
2) How often do you vacuum and do you struggle with pet hair tangling in your vacuum brushroll? constantly. Well we’ve got the two dogs, and me and my daughter so lots of hair.. 🙂
I handle pet hair with lint rollers and my vacuum..
I vaccum daily…sometimes more than once a day.. only way to handle the pet hair is to vacuum and vacuum again..we have indoor cat and indoor dog……plus 3 very large white german shepherds outside…but their hair always manages to find its way indoors too…and yep the hair gets tangled in the vacuum..broom and the dust mop..
I try to vacuum every other day and there is always so much pet hair stuck in the darned thing! I try to vacuum regularly to help get rid of it.
I haven’t been vacuuming often. My vacuum doesn’t pick up my dog’s fur at all.
I try to vacuum every other day or so, I do have trouble with pet hair wrapping around the brush.
I have 2 pugs and they leave fur all over the couches beds and floor. I vacuum daily and my vacuum does not handle pet hair very well.
I vacuum daily and pet hair tangling the vacuum is definitely an issue.
We should vacuum daily, it does get done most days. We have 4 dogs and are forever having to clean out the rollers.
1) Lots of brushing
2) We vacuum every other day and always have pet hair tangling up
I have tried everything to get rid of the dogs hair in my house. I have used that mitten, duck tape, and different vacuums. I have to vacuum at least once a week to keep up with the hair. It is a never ending struggle.
I vaccuum due to dog hair, everyday. I have a large, black, area rug (horrible color choice with 2 light colored dogs, I realize that now) and carpeting through most of my house. I have never owned a vaccuum that I feel truly gets deep down and pulls out the dog hair. I love my dogs, but I want to throw my current vaccuum out in the yard, daily, because it’s not helping with the war on dog hair in my home. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Hair, and tons of it from our Rough Collie, Scout. We maintain some sense of control by having Scout groomed and having his coat cut down during the summer months.
The dogs (all 3) and cats (2 of) all have access to outside fenced patio from the house and spend much of their days laying in the sun.
1. Tears. Lots and lots of tears and despair.
2. Vacuum twice weekly and cat hair gums up everything.
I have to vacuum my rugs and carpet daily during shedding season twice a year. I have two siberian huskys and they shed a lot and it is hard hard on a vacuum
we should vacuum everyday but dont and the real struggle in the couch.
I handle pet hair by using a squeegee before I vacuum. I vacuum every day and struggle with pet hair in the brush roll. I have Great Pyrenees doggies. Nuff said! LOL
It’s a lot more work than people might expect. My cat Oscar sheds hair EVERYWHERE and he is a short-haired, tabby. Go figure! I vacuum every single day. Every single day. Oye!
The only thing I do for pet hair is vacuum everyday. I vacuum the furniture and the rugs, do the baseboards and everything.
I vacuum every other day but have to sweep the hardwood floors several times a day!
My dog has short hair so I don’t have problems with his hair getting tangling in the brush roll.
I do vaccum daily I know it is pain 🙁
I have 4 cats and 3 dogs so
I need one that will keep my house clean not so easy to find love to try this one
I have two dogs and they are my sweet babies, but they shed constantly and as every dog owner knows, it is not so much fun trying to keep the house clean when there are dog hairs everywhere! I am very happy to find out there is a vacuum cleaners especially designed to clean hair! Thanks for the post! 🙂
I purchased Eureka as a pet vacuum in 2013. According to my experience I personally want to say, this vacuum cleaner is absolutely great. I especially like it for it’s design and color. On the other hand of it’s service, the power cord length on this exceptional model is an amazing 27 feet long. The suction power is enough powerful. I love it so much.
