Spg dog Sugar had a pawsome time at a very pet friendly hotel, Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa at Rancho Mirage – suburbs of Palm Springs, California. We met about 15 dogs vacationing with heir family. All the dogs were treated splendidly with special pet accommodation perks.
Westin Mission Hills loves pets. Several pets reside on the property.

Westin Pets
1. TERRARIUM: At the lobby (registration area), you’ll see the Westin Terrarium.
The Mobil Zoo of Southern California manages the terrarium that houses multiple species of amphibians and reptiles such as an iguana, gecko, bearded dragon, chameleon, python, tortoise, and tree frog.
2. PONDS of Koi, Turtle and Catfish: There are several ponds at Westin Mission Hills property. 1) Many colorful koi are over a foot long. 2) The red-eared slider turtles always hang out on pond rocks. 3) Huge catfish are actively swimming. We had fun witnessing the feeding of the catfish.
3. BIRDS: The Westin Mission Hills has beautiful landscaping. Lots of beautiful trees and man-made bodies of water. We enjoyed seeing the hummingbirds. We missed seeing Westin Swans resident Dolly & Bert.
4. BEE: Westin Mission Hills has an Apiary. Since I am allergic to bees – I avoided visiting this area but every Sunday from November to May, the resort offers a tour.
5. TORTOISES: Scooter and Shelley are African Spurred Tortoises. Scooter has his own “den.” Check out Sugar’s video on FB: meeting Scooter for the 1st time. Here’s a short video of Scooter and Shelly kissing.
6. RABBITS: So cute Bella and Billy, Flemish Giant Rabbits. They share a space with Scooter and Shelley. Well, Shelley do like to hang out inside their den.
7. RESCUE DOG: Wonderful Adopt A Pet program implemented only last year. Westin Mission Hills partnered with Animal Samaritans to assist in finding permanent homes for rescue dogs. We were told there were about 40 dogs adopted from their adopt a pet partnership. PIPPA is their current rescue dog guest. Many guests signed-up to take Pippa for a walk. Pippa’s had many walks and enjoyed saying hello to all the guests. Wishing for Pippa to find her forever home soon.
Pawsome Westin Mission Hills, Rancho Mirage for being pet friendly and Woofs to all the ‘Westin Pets’.
On upcoming post, I will share more about our pet friendly stay at Westin Mission Hills and Sugar’s adventures at Palm Springs, CA
That place sure has lots of interesting things to see pretty Sugar!
Very cool!
Oh what a cool hotel! I would love to spend my howl-i-day there and I bet even Hell-mut had fun to meet his big cousins :o)
SUGAR WHAT A WONDERFUL HOTEL…THEY KNOW HOW TO TREAT PETS AND THEIR HUMANS LIKE ROYALTY. I LOVE THE GIANT BUNNIES TOO AND FOR SURE I’D STAY CLEAR OF BEEEEEEES
HUGS MADI YOUR BFFF
It’s wonderful when we can take our babies along with us. Far better than a kennel because they can’t be in the hotel with us. I’m so happy this has changed.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. My best to your mom. ☺
Pet friendly places are the best. This one looks like loads of fun. Your buddy Jaxson would have leaped in the pond I’m afraid! Can’t wait until the full blog post!
What a wonderful resort; reminds me of Carmel, Ca. What a delightful time for dogs and their owners. I haven’t been leaving comments to often, life is so busy. It is hard to believe that year at this time we were having wonderful weather in Colorado. Today is cloudy and cool, but next week is supposed to be nice and warm. Hope you have a fantastic spring!

What a stunning hotel, awesome photos! I love that Westin hotels are all so beautiful & so dog friendly. It’s fabulous of them to incorporate animals into the design of this hotel. It’s especially wonderful that they’ve helped so many dogs find their furever homes!
Love & biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
Impressive! That is quite a hotel. I cannot wait to visit. I hope you enjoyed your stay and that Pippa finds her forever home soon! I will also share this on my facebook site and my chihuahua group facebook site. They are always looking for options where dogs are welcome.
WOOF!
Pawsome meeting you in person!! Know it or not you are a celebrity Sugar!!!
I love the adopt a pet idea! I know I miss my dogs like crazy when I have to go to a hotel and I can’t take them along. I’d be all over visiting a rescue dog on a trip. And if I made a love connection…. well, that’s a trip I’d never forget!
Jean from Welcome to the Menagerie
That is a gorgeous hotel! Mr. N would enjoy seeing all the animals.
