We had an awesome dog friendly weekend getaway in Camel-by-the-Sea last Labor Day. Before our arrival, Carrie, the owner and general manager of Hofsas House, and dog concierge Tank suggested an itinerary of dog friendly things to do in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
This is sponsored by Hofsas House. Golden Woofs Team spent Labor Day weekend at Carmel-by-the-Sea. Hofsas House provided us stays for Sugar to experience dog-friendly Carmel, CA.
There are so many things you can do in Carmel-by-the-Sea with your dog. We did a lot of fun dog friendly activities in two and a half days. Here’s our itinerary:
Dog Friendly Weekend Getaway in Carmel-by-the-Sea
Friday Night Arrival at Hofsas House
Hofsas House is a charming family owned boutique European-inspired hotel. Hofsas is ideal for a dog friendly getaway. I shared on a previous post, 5 Things You Will Love About Dog Friendly Hofsas House.
Friday Night Dinner at dog friendly Flaherty’s
At Flaherty’s it’s all about seafood and it’s delicious. Their outside patio is lovely and perfect for dog owners.
Saturday Morning: Breakfast at Village Corner – Carmel landmark and dining favorite of locals
Hofsas House served a complimentary continental breakfast with coffee, tea, fresh pastries delivered from a local bakery, juice, and fruit. However, after our mile morning walk, the coffee and pastries did not suffice us. We ate at dog friendly Village Corner – many raved about their thick cut applewood smoked bacon, and it was delicious.
Saturday mid-morning Activity: Carmel Walking Tour
A must do in Carmel, Guided Walking Tour! It’s a 2-hour dog friendly guided walk through secret pathways, charming courtyards, and award winning gardens. Also, you’ll learn about the interesting history of Carmel-by-the-Sea and its famous artist population.
Saturday: Lunch at The Forge in the Forest
We had a lovely lunch and meet-up at The Forge‘s dog friendly patio. Our Instagram Golden Pal Declan (aka Carmel Dog Concierge) and his mom joined us. The Forge offers a “Canine Cuisine” menu. Both SUGAR and Declan had their Hen House Chicken Strips (5oz of grilled and sliced boneless chicken breasts).
Saturday mid afternoon Activity: Wine Tasting
There are about 14 tasting rooms in Carmel by the Sea. Since they don’t serve food, wine tasting is dog friendly. We went to two wine tasting rooms: De Tierra and Dawn’s Dream Winery. Our wine tasting tickets were provided by Hofsas House, Golden Thanks.
Saturday Evening: Dinner at Mundaka
The dog friendly patio is tight but cute. We had a delicious tapas meal and enjoyed the Truffle Rice.
We walked back to Hofsas House, and it was time to call it a day. It was a cool evening and delightful to have a fireplace in our room.
Sunday Morning: Beach Time & Dog Bath
Carmel Beach is dog friendly, and dogs can run/walk off-leash. SUGAR had a pawsome time with Instagram Golden Pals Declan & Shanley.
SUGAR had a pawsome dog bath at Pet Food Express. LOVE LOVE their self-dog wash station, plus their retail store is pawsome too.
Sunday afternoon Activity: Holman Ranch Wine Tasting
The Holman Ranch Wine Tasting room is located in Carmel Valley ( about 13 miles from Hofsas House). Our wine tasting was provided by Hofsas House.
Yes, SUGAR another meet up with Golden Pal Declan.
Sunday afternoon Activity: 17-Mile Drive, Pebble Beach
A must do and see in Carmel! The 17-Mile Drive is one of the most famous scenic drives in the world. See SUGAR’s photo at the famous Rolex clock at Pebble Beach.
Sunday evening Activity & Dinner: Monterey, CA
We visited Old Fisherman’s Wharf and had dinner at dog friendly Big Fish Grill (provided by Hofsas House).
Old Fisherman’s Wharf Monterey, CA is a short drive from Carmel by the Sea (about 5 miles).
Last Day! Monday Breakfast with Declan and mom at Village Corner
Woofs for BACON! We had a great time hanging out with Declan, Carmel Dog Concierge and mom Laurie.
Monday Lunch: Carmel Valley Picnic
After checking out the Hofsas House, Carrie set-up a picnic lunch for us at the 5th Avenue Deli.
Monday Afternoon Activity
Olive Oil & Vinegar Tasting at Quails & Olive; known for their California Liquid Gold. Their flavored olive oil and vinegar have unique and tasty flavors.
Cowgirl Winery
Love the unique concept of Cowgirl Winery; “honoring the spirit of women and horses.” The laid-back pet friendly atmosphere made it extra special. They have a resident cat and chickens. Also, the “converted” old truck is a delightful setting. Our visit to Cowgirl Winery was a great way to end our dog friendly weekend getaway in Carmel.
If you are looking for a fun trip with your dog, Camel-by-the-Sea is a place for a dog friendly weekend getaway. Lots of Golden Thanks again to Carrie and Tank from Hofsas House.
Oh! SUGAR, I followed your Carmel trip via FB. WOW! You are just super and love seeing your happy photos. We have plan for a long road trip with Sadie. Dog Dad loves to play golf and wants to play at Pebble Beach. He was jealous of your photo at the Rolex clock. We might go next year and will definitely check out lovely Hofsas House. Woofs from Sadie
You are so lucky to visit lovely places. Love all your photos and very convincing … we will plan to visit. Love your pink cottage suite at Hofsas.
