Our pets are crated when we are not at home so they sleep and chew on their bones. But we are generally home all the time or they go with us.
One sleeps, the other gets into as much trouble as he can find!
I think they just sleep.

they pee and poo all over the house! which is why the 2 younger girls are nick named pee and poo. the play, b/c i find the toys all over the house, sometimes the youngest one gets in the plants and rips them out, or takes the dead leaves out and plays with them. or they will tear up something b/c mom has been gone too long. the oldest either sleeps or walks. she has terminal cancer and only a few months to live. i have a tarp down for her but sometimes she gets thru the barriers and makes a big mess, which takes me hours to clean up, she has a little dementia, almost blind and deaf. she started chemo 2 wks ago. she had surgery on her paw to remove the sarcoma, the vet did a paw block, but then they found a mass in her chest and she cant go under anesthesia. so hoping the chemo will shrink the mass some to give me more time with my baby. she is 15 and 3 mos.

I know what they do, they wait in their window seat for me to return and bark their heads off at everything that moves.
I think my dog sits on the couch and stares out of the window waiting for me. I wish she would play and go outside on her own.

According to others in the family, one of the dogs cries all the time I am gone. Otherwise, I suspect that they generally sleep a good deal of the time.
Linda Szymoniak says
While for the most part our three Treeing Walker Coonhounds spend most of the time we’re not at home just sleeping, they do get into trouble now and again. It’s my cats I would love to be able to spy on while I’m away. My older girl, Moko, likely sleeps for the most part, but the two younger ones have too much energy. Our 3-year-old, Arata, likes to bother Moko, but at least the kitten, Kotoha, helps Arata run off his energy.
Daniel Scott says
The counter surf and if there is anything they can eat it will be gone.
Cathy Armato says

My dog just lays by the door the whole time we are gone and she won’t eat or drink. We leave her in one spot and when we come home she is still in the same spot. We leave her water and a treats and nothing is touched. When we get back she immediately will go for the treats and the water.
