Last year REI, a specialty outdoor retailer, encouraged everyone to #OptOutside instead of bustling sales on Black Friday. This year, REI along with more than 475 national and local organizations are joining too. To learn more about REI’s intention behind this year’s #OptOutside initiative, read REI’s Why We Choose to OptOutside.
This year, Subaru of America, Inc. is participating and hosting a pet event and a social campaign. On Black Friday, Subaru will be providing Subaru Outback vehicles, with drivers and transport dog owners in New York City and their four-legged friends to the great outdoors for a day. In addition, Subaru and REI are inviting dog lovers everywhere to #OptOutside with their dogs. If you post a photo of you and your best friend enjoying the great outdoors on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter with hashtags #OptOutside and #MakeADogsDay, Subaru of America, Inc. will donate $1 to the ASPCA, up to $50,000 total. For more information about Subaru’s commitment to animal welfare, visit Subaru Pets. To find out where to #OptOutside and how to participate, visit REI OptOutside.

This will be the first year that we aren’t participating in Black Friday sales. We are shopping online and that frees us up to play with the boys instead!
Great SUG. We plan to be out with Sadie.
This is great – we may have snow but will play inside instead of doing the whole black friday thing

Mr Bailey, Hazel & Mabel
I haven’t gone shopping on “Black Friday” in over 20 years. I despise making my way through crowds and driving in a million circles looking for a parking space. What I can’t buy either online or in local stores just doesn’t get bought any more.
