The New Year is a good time to reflect on your dog’s health. Here are five New Year’s resolutions for your dog.
This post is sponsored by VetIQ. I am being compensated to promote Minties dental treats, but we only share information we feel is relevant to our readers.
5 New Year’s Resolutions For Your Dog
1. Take Your Dog to the Vet – The new year is a good time to follow up with your vet to discuss health issues that have come up since your last appointment. Being a proactive pet parent can help you avoid costly surgeries and other health problems.
2. Feed Your Dog an Appropriate Diet – For optimal health, choose a right diet tailored to your dog’s need. Do your own research or you can consult your vet about the best diet choice for your dog’s condition.
3. Walk Your Dog – Walking is a great exercise and stimulates your dog’s mind. Walking helps work off excess energy, and your dog will feel content. Walking also helps you bond with your dog. Spending time exploring new places and things, helps build trust and strengthens your relationship with your dog. Every day, set aside extra time to take your dog for walks.
4. More Play With Your Dog – Increase your dog’s level of exercise. Include play in your daily activities. Incorporate various forms of play that stimulate both your dog’s mind and body. A playful dog is a happy dog.
5. Keep Your Dog’s Teeth Clean & Healthy – 80% of dogs show signs of periodontal disease by age three. You can help prevent periodontal disease and other pet dental problems by brushing your dog’s teeth regularly. However, some dogs just don’t want to have their teeth brushed. Dental treats, like VetIQ® Minties®, are an option to use to help prevent dental diseases and keep your dog’s teeth clean.

The Pup loves to learn and so do I, so 2017 will re-emphasize training and gaining new skills. Several short daily training sessions and going to our trainer’s monthly Doggie Tune-up will be the starting point to make the goals happen.
we agree with all 5 resolutions, they are important and we should do efurrything for the bestest friend we have…
Sounds like a healthy plan

My New Year’s resolution is to walk my dog more often, as the weather allows, and brush her teeth every single day! 🙂

my NY resolution is not really a resolution but a big wish that my oldest dog, Evie, will go into remissions from terminal cancer. i am hoping the tumor will shrink, we will know more on 1-2 when she goes back for her 3rd treatment, chest ct, bloodwork, if not will try another type of chemo. not really a resolution but a wish. i am hoping for all of my girls to be safe and happy in 2017.
I need to make sure to keep my dog active more, especially during the colder months.
Happy New Year.

Great resolutions to have! Happy New Years!
We have a resolution to eat fewer biscuits this year! One of my boys is constantly begging for a treat.
You sure look festive, Sugar! Here’s to a New Year full of good health for you and all fur kids!
My old dog Shunta and I will get more exercise this year now that we got a new pup who will keep up on our toes.
Our new years resolution is to get our puppy integrated with the two older dogs.
I have three rescued Treeing Walker Coonhounds. They are all in need of dentals, despite that I try to take care of their teeth. None of them like getting their teeth brushed, so I try to give them dental chews as often as I can. Once they get their dentals, we’re going to be getting down to business, making sure to keep their teeth clean. Another thing we’re doing for the new year is to take more walks. The dogs – and I – can definitely use the exercise!
Like your resolutions! I have 3 and only one has needed a dental so far. We work hard to keep them clean! Our resolution is to work on sharing
My resolution is to buy more organic food for my dogs
More trips to the dog park because walks are fun but running free is even better!!
More walks, for me and the dogs.
Much like a people new year’s resolution my resolution for my Minpin Milo is to get him off the couch. You know what they say though; if your dog is fat you are not getting enough exercise.
Our resolution is better communications. Sometimes the dogs are trying to tell me something and I don’t stop, listen and pay attention. This year we will both try to get the message understood in a better way.
My resolution is to give my boy Beau more exercise.
This year we will go on longer walks and stop to smell everything!
My new years resolution for my dog Josie is for Josie to be happy and healthy in 2017.
more walks and a doggie door!!
Resolution for Paisley is to find more healthier food choices when choosing foods and treats!
We resolve to snuggle more, play more, sleep more, and laugh more together 🙂
Talou’s resolution is to stay active and lose a couple pounds
My dog says that her resolution is to drag me out for more walks every single day.
My New Year’s resolution for my dog is to get her moving more. She has become very lazy. I want to get her on more walks and playing more. I need her to lose a few pounds too and increasing the play/walks will help!
My dog’s new year resolution is to convince more people to give her treats.
more walks and less people food!!
Resolution for our dogs this year is to teach them to swim!
Our new year resolution is just being happy and healthy! BOL! We kinda forgot to make resolutions this year! 😀 Taking care of good dental health should be one of them for sure! 😉 Minties looks like a really cool dental chew and Sugar looks super cool with that 2017 hat! <3
We resolve to play more, chase more squirrels and snuggle more often all year long.
