Many ice melting salt products contain sodium chloride and pose a problem for dogs. Salt can irritate adog’s paws. Some dogs wear “dog boots” to protect their paws; just like SUGAR (when we were living in Chicago). However, many dogs don’t like wearing boots. To “Boot the Boot”, it is critical to use a pet safe ice melt that won’t burn your dog’s paws.
I am helping spread awareness about Morton Salt’s #BootTheBoot campaign with Morton® Safe T Pet®. Golden Woofs only share information we feel is relevant to our readers.
Booth the Boot with Morton® Safe T Pet®
The Morton Safe-T-Pet is an ice melt for happy paws. It is the only ice melt developed with and recommended by veterinarians. Morton Safe-T-Pet Free is free of chlorides; it is formulated to be safer for the environment and for your dog’s paws. Your dog will have lots of “winter fun.”

Do you use a pet safe ice melter?
that are pawsome little helpers for winter… I wish I had a flying heating pad for my village patrols
What a fantastic idea! We need this for the ice and snow at our cabin!

Safe salt sounds great….especially with some of the snow hanging around!
We heard about that on the TVees.
Hugs madi your bfff
We do use paw thaw but our local supplier stopped selling it, so we now need to shop online for it.
Yes, I use a pet safe ice melter whenever I can. I don’t have to use too much of it though because if I shovel fast the sidewalk and driveway the snow usually melts from the sun.
I do not use this. I am void the sidewalks with my pooches and have them wear booties when we go out for the walk in the snow.
i have never used this product, but i used salt, and kitty litter on my steps. i also cover my steps with a tarp to keep them from getting icy. the girls dont like to go out in the snow. they are Florida and southern girls. i always wipe their feet with wipes when we come it. i live in the country and there are no sidewalks unless we go to a pet store and i dont travel when the roads are bad.
Yup! Always. Haven’t tried this brand yet, but will be as soon as I run out of my old stuff, because it’s too hard to find.
We need this for our Midwest winters
We use the pet safe products on our back patio
Pet safe is all I will use on my walk ways. My Boston’s feet are very tender!
I haven’t really read the labels or thought about it being pet safe. I use it on back step so my old dog can get into house.
Since my dogs run in our backyard, and we have a stretch of driveway they have access to (there are gates across it where it meets the front of the house – they are only opened to get cars in or out of the garage). I avoid using ANY ice melt on that part – I’m a bit OCD about shoveling and will get as close to the pavement as I can). I do use when absolutely needed, as I do on the front walks and driveway on the front part of our property. I try to get pet-friendly ice melt when I can, although my husband is prone to just pick up what’s cheapest. What he buys is only used in the front.
Yes I use pet safe melter when I need to. But mostly I keep up with the shoveling so that I get everything up so I don’t have to use any type of melter.
That video is so funny! My dogs don’t like socks or booties to stay on their feet too long. I wish more people & public areas would use Pet safe ice melt! Great contest.
Love & biscuits,

I’ve honestly never heard of pet safe ice melter. But it sounds like a great thing & would be important to use.
