It is with a broken heart that I write this. Today has been the hardest day of my life. My Sweet SUGAR has crossed the rainbow bridge. SUGAR was a fighter; she survived two major surgeries (tongue and splenectomy). For the past days, she tried to get better but couldn’t. Unexpected ‘lymphoma’ occurred in her body.
SUGAR lived a long happy life. I will miss her beautiful smile and happy spirit. I had the best fifteen years, seven months and six days of my life. I love you SUGAR. You are the best dog ever. You are irreplaceable. I will miss your one of a kind Golden Love ❤️️ ~ mom Rosalyn
If you’re lucky …

….the mama was not even brave enough to open your post today… and now we all sit here and cry for your wonderful golden girl… we will miss her smile and her way to see the beauty and the good things of life… Hugs to you….
I only today (3.17) found this bog after reading an article on sopawfect — I’m terribly sorry for your loss. She looks like she was a beautiful, gentle soul. I think we see our furry friends again as much as we see each other somewhere else — and I think Sugar will be there, waiting with a big, wet sloppy kiss for you someday…but not too soon.
I’m sorry, I know they are empty words to you now. I just wanted to say that I’m an animal lover and just seeing her pictures made me smile.
Sugar was one very special girl and we will miss her. Hugs to you, Miss Rosalyn♥
My heart goes out to you during this very difficult time. We have always had Goldens & have 3 now, 1 of which is quite young battling lymphoma. I pray that your sweet Sugar will give you a sign when your heart is ready to receive it. I will ask all of my animals that have passed to greet Sugar & show her all the cool spots to go. May angels of comfort and strength surround you. I will miss so much all of your postings and pictures.
Dear Rosalyn,
My heart just shattered into a million pieces for you. Sugar was such a special dog. She left Golden footprints on so many hearts, and you were such a wonderful mom to her. Thank you so much for sharing Sugar’s sweet smile and Golden love with us. You’re in my heart and in my thoughts.
Much love,
Suzanne (Harper Lee’s mommy)

I was heartbroken when I saw this on Instagram at about 1:30am. My heart just breaks for you. I know how deeply you and your husband loved Sugar. You gave her a most beautiful, loving, caring, active and interesting life. I am sure your incredible loving care enabled her to live longer than most dogs could ever hope to live.
I remember fondly that you and Sugar were some of the first bloggers who started at around the same time that I did. I remember FINALLY being able to meet you and of course Sugar in person. It was special.
Some of my most favorite memories are of Sugar on the blog when you moved to Hawaii for awhile. Those posts exuded so much love and Sugar was so extremely happy during that time.
As others have said, thank you so much for sharing your special girl with all of us. There is a huge hole in our hearts that will remain empty without sweet Sugar.
Her smile lit up the hearts of all who encountered her, either in person or on the blog.
Sending you gentle (((hugs))), “golden” love and we are here if you need us. Love from all of us and our most heartfelt sympathy.
Oh Rosalyn, words cannot express the depth of my sorrow for you, for your loss. You and Sugar were among the first to welcome me to “Blogville” several years ago. Though we never met “in person”, I have always felt as though I’ve known you and Sugar for “ages”. When my sweet Callie made her journey to the Rainbow Bridge, I felt your support and Sugar’s Golden smile helping Shadow and I to cope with our loss. I hope that you can feel ours at this very difficult time. Love and Hugs, and Golden kisses from Shadow. 💔
Sugar, we are so sorry that you had to leave and we will miss you so much. But we know you are in the very best company at the bridge. We have many loved ones there who will welcome you.
The Portie Pack
Rosalyn while we did not know you or your beautiful Sugar, we DO know the heartache you have right now as we said goodbye to our 17 year old Sammy cat just before Christmas. They are SO BRAVE – I always think they are brave for our sake and not their own. Amazing hearts animals have. Sugar was such a gorgeous dog too – I’d read comments or posts on other blogs about Sugar and I wish I’d taken time to visit and get to know her because all I’ve ever heard was that she was one of a kind and totally full of love. I am sure that love will keep you warm and safe for the rest of your life…………sending you hugs of comfort.
Pam, Angel Sammy and Teddy
So sorry! As I was reading the tears started flow. We never met Sugar but knew Sugar thru your blog. We learned a lot about Sugar what she loved to eat and she always had a SMILE on her face. Prayers and hugs to you and dog daddy. Sugar will always be in your heart. Sugar seems so content at the beach watching the sunset. They say the beach soothe the soul….. I am sure Sugar is watching over you and dog daddy. You were a wonderful, loving, caring, the best nurse taking care of Sugar and the best dog blog for Sugar. Thank you for sharing Sugar with all of us. I looked forward everyday to read your blog and to see Sugar smiling. My heart breaks for you. Take Care You are amazing Sugar lived a very good life for over 15 years. I always wondered why can’t our animal live as long as we do..why do they age so fast. Sugar I will miss seeing your Smiling face.
Sugar was one of the first blog dogs I met. She will be remembered fondly. Thank you for sharing her wonderful life with us. Thinking of you today. Hugs.
I learned of Sugars passing when I just happened to check my phone in the middle of the night, and she (and you) have been in my thoughts ever since. With smiles, I remember meeting for the first time at a BlogPaws conference and just feeling the love between the two of you. You both were just the warmest, sweetest, kindest beings and made such a difference in so many people and pets lives with your presence and blog and ‘personal appearances’ and through the sorrow I am grateful that we met and that you shared your sweet Sugar’s journeys with the world. I will always miss her, but there is a place in my heart where she will reside forever, and I hope the love you shared will help carry you through this most difficult and saddest of times…
She was incredibly special and we have always been honored to be part of the community she had such a vital role in. Hugs to you as you savor each memory.

Oh Sugar…I can’t help but weep. I have such a soft spot for the Golden Retriever and lost my beloved Bailey over 21 years ago to cancer when she was only 2 years old. I tried everything to keep her with me, but as with you, I had to say goodbye. To this day, whenever I see a Golden Retriever it brings me to tears, as I miss her so dearly.
I pray you are at peace – you brought so much love and joy to all those that knew you and you will always hold a special spot in my heart.
I am so terribly sorry for the loss of your beautiful dog. You shall all be together someday in a place far better than this.
We share in your sorrow. We are sure tears are being shed all over the world for the loss of such a golden girl.

I wish they could stay with us always. Please know you’re both are in my thoughts and prayers and Sugar forever in my heart.

And when things get tough those memories will make you smile the things will be better. Deepest sympathy and gentle purrs, and hugs. Erin
OMG, I just found out. I’ve spent the past two days taking my pack into the vet for their annual checkups and shots, and was just now catching up on emails. I know Sugar wasn’t feeling the best, but I had sent prayers… I don’t even know what to say. We’ve all gone through this, but each time it’s like the world has ended. I’m so sorry. Sending prayers to you and for Sugar’s journey to the Rainbow Bridge. So many other amazing animals of all kinds waiting there to welcome her. I wish I knew what to say.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Sugar was very special.
Dear loving dog-owner,
as somebody who had to have the vet put down her beloved tomcat not even three weeks ago, I know about your pain. When I got my tom knew I would survive him as you did, when you got your dog. Still, when this final moment comes we bawl and cry and despair. We know life is not endless, but we cannot foresee, no matter how many pets we had before, how much we will love this bundle of fur when we get them.
The weeks before I accepted my FunTom in my life I seriously asked myself if would have the strength to go through with it when it was time to carry him to the vet and ask for those final injections. And I said, yes, of course, it is the final favor I can do him, for sure I will be able to.
Then, Monday the 27th February came my day where I had to answer this question by deed, not by words. And it was hard and painful. I did, like you did, what was right and let the vet put him out of his misery. And so did you, let the vet put your dog out of her misery. Brave deed. It would have been easier, wouldn’t it, if we let our pets die “naturally”. Just that this “naturally” would have been so much crueller to our beloved creatures than a guided death, under strong medication so that pain ended and the poor little, beloved body could relax.
We did what was right and now we have to live with those gaps and the bad memories of the last days alongside the good ones of those years before. And we will live with a pet-shaped gap in our hearts.
Allow me to give you a virtual hug. The pain will lessen over time, I know that from previous, well-loved pets, this was not my first cat, the memories of these painful last days will lessen. But the dog herself won’t be forgotten as well as I won’t forget my tom. For now that is all we have.
As I have another cat still, who right now lies next to me and wonders what all this water running down her human’s cheek means (or maybe she just wants another treat), I will have to get a second cat again. To keep my cat company, who is very social and loves other cats and is lonely while I am at work.
That is not replacing Tom. It is just offering the one thing he had to pass on, a place full of love and care on to another needful cat. Just not immediately, I need a little time to grief, first.
All the best for you.
So very sorry to hear your sad news. Sending you lots of loves and hugs, will be thinking of you
Loves and licky kisses

What a special dog, we will never forget that. The worst part about owning a pet is dealing with losing them. Remember the good times and how lucky Sugar was to have a super loving home and charmed life. Not all are that lucky.
Wishing you strength at this time. All the best from Rubie and her mum xxx

I didn’t think I could post on your blog anymore, as I’ve not been able to in a very long time. I did still visit, I just couldn’t comment.
Anyway, I wanted to give you my condolences for Sugar. She has left a huge hole in Blogville, just as I’m sure she’s left in your heart.
You gave her a wonderful life, as documented on facebook and on your blog. I hope knowing this helps ease your pain.
We are sending purrs and prayers of support at this sad time.

Dear Roslyn and Family,
I am devastated, have already typed several notes (IG & Twitter) but no words are enough to express my sorrow and sadness at the loss of SUGAR. She brightened my day and clearly that of so many others as well.
I wish I could reassure you sadness will pass soon but I know your heart is broken as SUGAR even took a piece of my heart with her, even though we never met in person. I always loved seeing her latest beautiful SMILING face, what she was doing, how she enjoyed every second of life and was always so happy. She sets an example for all of us to enjoy what we have and share the love!
I see most posts here express they are writing with tears! I know that is true because I cried last night, dreamt about you and SUGAR when I went back to sleep, and I’m crying again as I write this note. My heart goes out to you, truly. I wish I could do something to ease your pain and heartache, only SUGAR could do that, she remains one of a kind and will live on in your heart forever. True, Unconditional Love and Loyalty. Sending Love, Jackie and Daisy Violet
P.S. I hope her posts remain forever as this is a beautiful tribute to SUGAR and I’m sure she will continue to bring SMILES to all of us who view her amazing life through your beautiful photos of SUGAR. God Bless SUGAR forever, thank you SUGAR for the example you set for so many to be grateful and share JOY, share SMILES. Thank you to your Mom Roslyn for sharing you with the world! You made the world a better place and you will live on in the hearts of all you touched. Love, Hugs, XO’s, Prayers….. Jackie and Daisy
I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ll never forget that beautiful Sugar smile. She touched many lives and will be remembered by many. I hope in time your pain will fade. I can’t even imagine loosing my dogs. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
I’m so sad to hear about this. It brings tears to my eyes and reminds me of how hard it was to lose my Lola last August. It’s the worst and although I know nothing can make you feel better right now, I can say that it does get better with time. Take time for yourself and take it easy for as long as you need. Sending sooooooo many golden woofs your way. Love, Tori + Lucy
Although I sent condolences via Facebook, with tears in my eyes, when I first saw the news of Sugar’s passing, please know that even days later you, Rosalyn, and your husband are still in my thoughts. Losing your heart dog is one of the most painful events of life, as everyone who’s been through it knows. Sugar really was one of a kind golden love, and thank you for sharing her smiles and sweet spirit with us all.
I am so sorry for your loss. Sugar was a great online personality, and I’m sure she was in person too. Remember that she will be waiting at the Rainbow for you.
Dear Rosalyn – I’ve followed Sugar for as long as I can remember. I knew she had been sick for a while but I guess I had hope she would overcome this too. Her pictures always made me smile and even though I’ve left the blogging community I still receive your newsletter so I was able to keep up with her many adventures. Sugar was one of the most beautiful happiest dogs. I never met her and still I cried this morning when I read she was gone.
I believe our dogs DO go to heaven and that we will be reunited with them so I’ll end by saying “run free Sugar while you wait for your loved ones to join you knowing you were dearly loved by so many.”
I just wanted to drop a note letting you know how sad I was to hear the news. I was a big fan of Sugar’s adventures and always followed them on Facebook even when I couldn’t make it over here to the blog. I’m glad we got to meet briefly at BlogPaws. I’ll miss seeing Sugar’s smile for sure. You’re in my thoughts and I know how it feels to lose such a special friend.
I just heard about this and I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you. Sugar touched so many of us with her sweet and happy smile.
Dear friends, I am only now just reading about Sugar. My heart goes out to you full of love and appreciation, and special love for dogs. I didn’t know your dog yet I did because your love for Sugar was on every single page of this blog. A once in a life-time love, a great dog. Many thanks for sharing Sugar’s life with us. ::woof::
I have just learned of Sugar’s passing. I am so sorry for your loss. Your family is in my thoughts.
Rosalyn, my heart breaks for your loss. My Cinnamon and Ethyl will be there to greet her. Seniding much love <3
Rosalyn,
I mentioned a condolence on FB but haven’t been able to get here…. Tears flow and my heart breaks for you and your sweet sugar! There are no words- cyber hugs, thoughts and prayers!
When we lose a bonded companion, like you and Sugar, only time can heal the passing. What a wonderful life you had together. Know that she is out of pain and her spirit will continue in your heart. Thank you for sharing your love and adventures. Over the years we have visited hundreds of blogs but we only keep coming back to a few and Sugar has been Sunday for a very very long time. I like to think of all my furry companions playing in the big meadow in the sky across the rainbow bridge with no fear, no worries, and all the treats they want. – Your friends at DogDaz Zoo – The Zookeeper, Lorian – Louise, Sofie Bear, Charles, Noel, Nine, Stella, and Mini Cooper
So sorry for your loss. Losing our companions is so difficult to endure. Sending hugs.
I came upon your website by chance. I saw the Valentine’s Day pancake recipe with Sugar on it. I have not been to your blog before this, but when I saw that your sweet Sugar had passed it brought many tears to my eyes. My sweetest boy Willie had passed on March 9th, one week before Sugar. He was a lab/golden mix and had his own following amongst family and friends alike. It was the hardest day of our lives to let him go, but he too had cancer, mast cell cancer, that he had been fighting the last 10 months. Although I have never met you or Sugar, I just wanted to let you know that I care and hope time eases your pain and that you only have golden memories. I know all our furry loving companions are together in heaven and that we will see them again someday. Best wishes to you and God bless!
We are so very sorry for your loss.
