DIY No Sew Dog Treat Pouch | Blue Buffalo Santa Snacks #BlueHolidaysAtWalmart

December 22, 2020
3 Comments

Two of our favorite holiday traditions are seeing Santa and visiting different Christmas decors. This year is a bit different. Many places have minimal holiday decor and not offering Santa photos. These changes do not mean we can not celebrate the season with lots of smiles, love, and togetherness.

Since 2015, BLUE™️ Santa Snacks®️ is our favorite holiday dog treats. SUGAR loved this crunchy oatmeal and cinnamon dog biscuits. Now, KORU BEAR is loving these Santa Snacks in fun different holiday shapes like stars, gingerbread men, and Christmas tree. Your dog will also love BLUE™️ Santa Snacks wholesome ingredients, crunchiness, and delicious taste!

This post is sponsored by BLUE™️ Santa Snacks®️. I am being compensated to help share information about Blue Buffalo Santa Snacks dog biscuits from Walmart, but Golden Woofs only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers.

This is KORU BEAR 3rd Christmas. His first year celebrating Christmas 2017, he met seven Santas. KORU BEAR had a pawmazing Santa Adventures and I created a dog treat pouch using a denim pocket. I received lots of compliments from fellow dog owners that I made several and gifted them. This year for fun, I decided to reuse the BLUE™️ Santa Snacks®️ to create a special holiday dog treat pouch for KORU BEAR holiday 2020 adventures.

DIY No Sew Dog Treat Pouch

Tutorial DIY No Sew Dog Treat Pouch

Supplies to Make Dog Treat Zipper Pouch

Scissors

Glue Gun (alternatively you can use a stapler)

Optional: Decorative duct tape (use to cover the inside of the wrapper and extra seal the edges)

Steps to Make DIY No Sew Dog Treat Pouch

1. Cut the Wrapper Open
Cut the dog treat wrapper open so it’s a rectangle.

2. Position the Zipper
Apply glue (use a hot glue gun) on the zipper and place and align the top of the dog treat wrapper.
Flip the top of the zipper, then apply glue to attach the bottom of the wrapper.

3. Secure the Sides
Almost Done! You have an option to fold the sides, then apply glue or directly glue the edges.

4. Finish the No Sew Dog Treat Zippered Pouch
The final step is to turn the pouch inside out. Make sure to unzip the zipper. Due to its size, be careful, go slow, and take your time.

California Dog Travel Winter Tips

December 11, 2020
4 Comments

December is a magical time in California. A fun time to go on a road trip with your dog. You can go to the beach or the desert or the mountains. You can experience three different types of weather on the road.

It is important to remember that traveling with your dog requires additional care for the safety of everyone inside your vehicle.

Autotrader Holiday In Drive Dog Travel Winter Tips

This post is sponsored by Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book. We are helping to promote Holiday In Drive Winter Weather Travel Tips. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and Golden Woofs only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers.

Holiday Traditions With Your Dog

Do you have a holiday tradition with your dog? December is a fun-filled month where we travel to different cities/states to check out holiday decors and meet Santas and friends. Due to the California covid lockdown stay at home restrictions, we are modifying our holiday travels. We plan to explore locally, continue to give back, and support the neighborhood businesses.

unboxing Autotrader gift box

However, we will continue our tradition of wearing humorous ugly holiday tops – just like Koru Bear’s dog Dad is wearing. So much fun opening the Autotrader’s holiday gift box. These gifts provided holiday cheer, particularly the limited-edition ugly sweater light-up face masks.

KORU BEAR and dog Dad had a fun time unboxing the Autotrader gift box which includes the limited-edition ugly sweater wheel cover and light-up mask, a hat, pair of gloves, insulated mug, and holiday lights necklace.

3 Important Tips To Keep Your Dog Safe in Car Rides

It is crucial to take precautions when your dog goes for a car ride. Here are three car ride safety tips for keeping your dog safe.

Tips keep your dog safe car rides

For photo purposes only, KORU BEAR is sitting on the driver seat to show-off the Autotrader fun limited-edition ugly sweater wheel cover.

1. Your dog should sit in the back seat
It is not advisable to have your dog in the front passenger seat of your car. The back seat is the safest place for your dog to sit.

2. Properly secure your dog
An unrestrained dog can cause distraction and interfere with your driving. The safest way for your dog to ride in the car is by securing him/her in a crate or with a car safety harness and/or a dog seatbelt.

How do we secure KORU BEAR safely in the car? He is a big 90+lbs dog and comfortable wearing a crash-tested dog car harness.

3. Don’t allow your dog to put his/her head out the window of your car
It may be fun to watch your dog, but while your vehicle is moving, it is absolutely not safe to let your dog ride with his/her head out the window (even though your dog is restrained in the car). You are putting your dog’s eyesight, ears, and life in danger when you allow him/her to stick his/her head out of the window while you drive.

Autotrader Kelly Blue Book Winter Tips

For photo purposes only and when the car is on a stop, we unbuckle him and allow him to put his head out of the window.

We are hoping to travel to Big Bear. KORU BEAR has not experienced snow, and it will be fun to visit Big Bear for the day. Hopefully, when the covid stay-at-home restrictions are lifted from traveling outside our community, we can visit Big Bear. We (specifically KB’s main chauffeur, dog Dad) are prepared and keep these five winter driving tips in mind when traveling to the California mountains.

Dog Travel Car Rides Winter Tips

5 Tips for Winter Driving Condition in the California Mountains

1. Stay Home
Make sure to check the weather condition frequently. On Autotrader Holiday In Drive tips for safe winter driving, when the weather is dangerous to drive, stay home.

2. Carry Tire Chains
Winter can be a beautiful time of year in the California mountains. However, it can also bring a variety of unpleasant driving conditions to the roadways. Make sure you have chains for your car.

3. Keep Fuel Tank Full
At all times, make sure to have a full tank of gas.
When your tank is half empty, immediately fill it up.
During snow traffic and when you need to change routes due to a bad snowstorm, your vehicle is well-prepared.

4. Winter Driving Tips
a) Allow plenty of time to arrive at your final destination. Your travel time might take longer due to storm conditions or icy roads.
b) At all times, keep your seat belt buckled.
c) Drive cautiously, especially when black ice is nearly invisible.
d) Be observant; slow down and reduce your driving speed. Keep a constant watch for other vehicles. Leave more distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead.
e) Turn off your cruise control. You need to be able to control your car when driving in snow or wet road conditions.
f) Give snowplows room to work and be very cognizant of what they are doing on the road.

5. Carry Emergency Supplies
Winter weather can be unpredictable. Always be prepared by having an emergency kit in your car. If you find yourself stranded during a snowstorm, other items that may be of use are as follows: flashlight, blanket, extra clothing, towel, gloves, ice scraper, shovel, spare key, and sand/kitty litter.
If you are traveling with your dog, make sure you have a pet emergency first aid kit, extra food, and winter outdoor gear. We want to be prepared at all times; we keep KORU BEAR’s traveling bag in the truck.

Do you have plans to travel with your dog this winter? If you do, be careful, take extra precautions and keep in mind all these safety tips.

1. Dog Dental Health
This year, I focused on KORU BEAR’s dental health. Both bluestem and TropiClean pet oral pet products played vital roles in KB’s dental health progress. Brushing using dog-safe bluestem toothpaste is a must. When brushing is not an option, TropiClean Clean Teeth Gel works well and naturally reduces plaque and tartar.

2 Reduce Dog Shedding
It is important to use a quality deShedding tool like FURminator especially if you have a Golden Retriever. Having a grooming routine of brushing, deShedding, and bathing helps to keep our home clean. Our favorite is FURminator’s new Bathing Brush. You can watch KB’s Grooming Secrets video on Instagram IGTV and KB’s FURminator Spa Day video on Instagram Reels.

Build A Stronger Bond with Your Dog #PackedWeekend

November 19, 2020

Bonding with your dog is important because it will diminish miscommunication. When you have a strong bond in place, it is easier for you to understand your dog’s needs.

The Pack Amazon Prime Video

Establishing a meaningful bond with your dog is how your dog will learn to trust you. Trust is extremely important to form with your dog because it will make them easier to train, which will be mutually beneficial. Also, building trust will make your dog feel safer.

7 Ways to Build A Stronger Bond with Your Dog

Bonding with your dog can be accomplished in many different ways. Below are seven bond builder ideas you can easily implement to help you build a stronger bond with your dog. Keep in mind to adjust each of these ideas to better suit your unique relationship with your dog.
1. Play Together
2. Teach Commands and Tricks
3. Pay Attention to Body Language
4. Praise for Good Behaviors
5. Set-up Rules and Routines
6. Provide Physical Touch
7. Compete Together

Ways to Build A Stronger Bond with Your Dog

1. Play Together
Spending time together and playing fun games strengthen your bond with your dog. “Play is powerful stuff. It influences so many things, including development, motivation, emotions, physiology, communication and behavior.” (from Play Together, Sit Together: Karen London and Patricia McConnell)

2. Teach Commands and Tricks
Training is one of the best ways to build a stronger bond with your dog. Teach your dog basic behavior commands and fun tricks. Be patient with your dog and stay consistent. Engaging your dog in a training session helps boost your dog’s confidence and provides a mental challenge.

Play Build A Stronger Bond with Your Dog

3. Pay Attention to Body Language
Understand your dog’s cues for when it might be tired or upset so that you are not putting unnecessary stress or pressure on your dog during training sessions.

4. Praise for Good Behaviors
It is important to acknowledge your dog’s good behavior even if he/she knows all the commands and tricks. Praising your dog simply with verbal praise is a great way for him/her to continue the “good dog” behavior.

5. Set-up Rules and Routines
One way to build trust with your dog is by having consistent rules and routines. However, changing up your dog’s walking route can be fun and stimulating; give it a try.

6. Provide Physical Touch
Various studies have shown that touching your dog, either by petting or grooming, can decrease their stress levels (for both of you). It is important for you to take some time and focus all your attention on your dog when petting him/her.

7. Compete Together
Bring out your dog’s full abilities by adding fun activities. Joining competitive dog sports can strengthen your relationship with your dog.

The Pack Amazon Prime Video

The Amazon Original series The Pack will premiere on November 20th, on Amazon Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn and her canine co-host Lucy are the hosts of the series. The series features twelve teams of dogs and their humans compete in different fun challenges around the world while enhancing their bond. It’s going to be a Packed Weekend – Watch The Pack on Amazon Prime Video!

Raise Your Paw If You’re Confused By CBD Dog Chews and Hemp Oils | Pet Releaf

November 17, 2020

We know the CBD world can often be hard to navigate, especially when it comes to shopping for your furry loved ones. When your pet’s health is weighing heavy on your mind, it can often be difficult to select what would be the very best for their overall wellness as well as support their specific health needs. Don’t worry, Pet Releaf is here to help you navigate CBD for pets! We’re breaking down how CBD can be beneficial to add to your pet’s daily regimen and how to choose the perfect product for your dog or cat.

cbd dog chews and hemp oilThis post is written and sponsored by Pet Releaf. I am being compensated to promote Pet Releaf’s CBD Dog Chews and Hemp Oils, but Golden Woofs only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers.

How does CBD oil work?

Every mammal, including us humans and our pets have an endocannabinoid system (ECS). When CBD is consumed, the ECS is then activated. When activated, it creates a 2-way communication system between the brain and other systems in your pet’s body, such as the nervous, cardiovascular, digestive, and more. Once the brain can communicate with the other areas of the body, it may help their body function at optimum levels of health!

Pet Releaf: CBD benefit your pet

How can CBD benefit your pet?

Since the endocannabinoid system can create a communication system between the brain and other systems in the body, CBD has the potential of helping out in a multitude of areas in your pet’s anatomy.

1. Situational Stress
Whether your furry friend hates being left alone or they’re not a fan of loud noises from fireworks or thunderstorms, CBD may be a great all-natural alternative to promote calmness in your dog. Pet Releaf recommends administering your pet’s recommended usage amount (this amount is based on your pet’s weight and is listed on all of our products) about an hour or so before a stressful event, so the CBD has time to take effect. Pet Releaf’s CBD Calming Edibites with Peanut Butter & Carob flavor contain key ingredients like baobab and chamomile that may help promote relaxation and calmness in your dog!

2. Hip and Joint Discomfort
If you have a dog that is starting the aging process or a pup that experiences joint stiffness after a long day of hiking, CBD can be a great daily supplement. Try administering your pet’s daily recommended usage amount if you start to notice them experiencing discomfort in their hips or joints to help them feel more at ease. Pet Releaf CBD Hip & Joint Edibites with Peanut Butter & Banana flavor integrate ingredients like glucosamine, chondroitin, and noni that may support mobility as well as hip and joint discomfort.

3. Digestive Health
Watching your dogs feel uncomfortable is never fun, especially when they’re experiencing an upset tummy. CBD can also be a great way to settle your dog’s occasional gastric distress to help them feel more comfortable. Pet Releaf CBD Digestive Health Edibites with Sweet Potato Pie flavor incorporate valuable ingredients like ginger and marshmallow root that may help support a healthy digestive tract!

4. Overall Wellness
If you’re on the search for pet products for a lifetime, then supplementing Pet Releaf CBD products should definitely be #1 on your list. CBD can be a great way to support a healthy immune system in your pet, which makes it perfect for supplementing through every stage of your pet’s life. Pet Releaf CBD Immunity Boost Edibites with Blueberry & Cranberry flavor incorporate ingredients like blueberry and cranberry that may support antioxidant function in your dog’s body.

Is CBD safe for your pet?

There are many CBD products on the market, but Pet Releaf is confident to say that their products are the number one, most trusted and safest. Pet Releaf control their entire manufacturing process, from seed to sale, from plant to pet. From Pet Releaf USDA Certified Organic Hemp Farm to their Supercritical CO2 extraction facility, they are there every step of the way. They also have extensive 3rd party lab testing to ensure the potency and safety of our products.

What CBD pet products does Pet Releaf offer?

1. Hemp Oils
Pet Releaf CBD Hemp Oils are available in three different potencies for pets of all sizes: 1) Hemp Oil 100 for small dogs and cats, 2)Hemp Oil 200 for medium dogs, and 3) Hemp Oil 500 for large breed dogs. The Pet Releaf Hemp Oils only include two key ingredients; our organic full spectrum hemp extract with naturally occurring CBD and organic coconut oil. For best results and max absorption when it comes to administering, it is best to administer your pet’s recommended usage amount straight from the dropper on an empty stomach.

2. Liposome Hemp Oils
If you’re looking for a way to administer your pet’s daily CBD during mealtime, then Pet Releaf Liposome Hemp Oils are perfect for your fur friend! The Liposome Hemp Oils can be administered during mealtime without losing any effectiveness. The Liposome Hemp Oils are available in two different potencies for dogs and cats: 1) Liposome Hemp Oil 100 for small dogs and cats and, 2) Liposome Hemp Oil 300 for medium to large breed dogs. A lot of dogs and cats consider Liposome Hemp Oils very palatable as they contain organic full spectrum hemp extract with naturally occurring CBD mixed with a sustainably-sourced Wild Alaskan Red Pollock Oil.

3. Edibites
If you’re on the search for an easy way to supplement your pet’s daily CBD in a chew form, the Pet Releaf CBD-infused Edibites are recommended.  The Pet Releaf Edibites are perfect for supporting your pet’s everyday wellness and are available in varieties like CBD Immunity Boost, CBD Calming, CBD Digestive Health, and CBD Hip & Joint to support those areas of your pet’s body. Although they integrate functional ingredients for those areas of the body, if you feel like your pet requires a higher potency product based on their health needs, then we’d recommend upgrading to one of our Hemp Oils!

4. Canna Care Topical
When it comes to bug bites or skin irritations, our Canna Care Topical may be a great option for supporting your dog’s skin health. If your pup is active outside and may experience skin allergies or itchy bug bites, try applying our topical directly to your dog’s skin as needed to help relieve the itch.
