Training a dog is an important duty of a responsible dog owner.
It also makes life better for both owner and dog.
My family took a lot of time and patience to train me.
Believe me I was a little handful to train.
Food was the main factor to my success, which I never grew out of.
Now I combine my training in doing tricks, of course for fun and with a food reward.
Did you know that it is beneficial teaching your dog a trick.
Doing tricks helps stimulates your dog’s mind and challenges him/her to try new things.
Doing fun tricks with your dog involves learning and
mastering basic commands such as sit and stay.
These are the 2 main commands that I master immediately and
very important to learn fun tricks such as balancing treat on my nose/head.
Many of you I’ve asked How Did I Balance TREATS on my nose/head?
It started Sept 4, 2010 when mom was making me a Tasty Treat: Peanut Butter Banana Oats.
I was so excited to have a taste and she said I forgot my manners to “wait.”
So she taught me a Trick: Dog 10 sec Dog Treat On My Nose.

Then October 25, 2011 (new year, new trick), I learned to Balance Treats (yes Treats) with my favorite tasty treat Pumpkin Bones. Click Here to read our post.
On our November 1, 2011 I tried to balance treats that were in round shapes.
Click Here to read our post.
We received numerous emails in regards to my balancing treat(s) trick.
Wisteria, a home decor website featured my 10 sec dog treat on my nose photo in their blog, click here to read their post.
Recently, my Balancing TREATS photo was featured on the Red Dog, Blue Dog book,

Also, on my Jan 23, 2013 post, I balance a bunch of bananas on my head (5 bananas).
How did I do that?
Beside mastering the commands sit and stay, both you are your dog need to have patience.
5 simple reminders on teaching your dog a trick …
1) Remember to do it for FUN.
2) Do the trick in small increment of time.
3) Stop teaching the trick if your dog is uncooperative
4) Always start the trick from the beginning
5) Find a safe place to do the trick (balancing trick works best on carpeted or padded area)
* Don’t forget to praise your dog. *
How I balanced a banana on my head …
My mom commanded me to sit.
Then she placed the banana on my head.
I started with 1 small banana, just like the photo above.
My mom commanded me to stay as she placed the banana on my head.
I balance the banana on my head.
I added the SMILE 🙂
Below is a very short video on how I can balance a banana on my head.
FUN trick isn’t it …
What am I working right now … trying to balance objects
my toy Kong, toy paw bone and a book (Red Dog Blue Dog book)
Oh … I found this golf ball at the golf course.
It is dangerous for a dog to play with golf balls.
Just for FUN tried to balance it on my head and nose.
I have a curve on my head/nose …
Is this my secret feature that allows me to do the balance trick ???
Hope you enjoyed our post and encourage you to do a balancing trick with your dog.
Give it a try. Remember, “You can always teach a dog (no matter its age) a trick.”

I LOVE Bananas. I GO BANANAS For BANANAS.
Bananas are my favorite fruit treat. WHY? Love the muchiness and sweetness.
I usually have a banana treat after my morning meal.
A Banana A Day Keeps the Doctor Away.
Did you know there’s “sugar” in Bananas?
But it’s a good natural sugar that surely helps me perk up in the morning.
There are times mom makes me work to have a banana.
If you read my post yesterday, I have a talent for balancing.
Yes, I got bananas on my head.
Photo is a bit fuzzy as mom took it from her iPhone.
Do you see a bubble on my tongue? Just could not wait to have the banana on my head.
Bananas have a number of health benefits (for dogs and humans) which can make them an excellent addition to a balanced healthy diet.

In honor of re-elected President Obama’s Inauguration Day, we are featuring a book by Chuck Sambuchino Red Dog Blue Dog (When Pooches Get Political).
This book is Golden Special as I am one of the dogs featured in the book.
Yes, I’m drooling … Golden Excited to check out the book and
Golden Curious which of my photo was featured.
I took a peak … but first Golden Thanks to Dakota‘s mom for providing us a copy.
(Our original copy is waiting for us in my hometown, Chitown).
You may wonder how my photo was selected to be in the book. Well, we received an email asking if we are interested in submitting a photo of ME doing a trick. That’s not hard cause I got several photos that involves a fun trick. However, there’s one fun trick photo that we posted and drew many readers in our blog. We got numerous permission requests to use the photo, as we are very selective we only allowed 2 sites to use the photo. Also early last year, we were informed by Mr. Sambuchino that my photo made the final publication of his book. If you’ve been following my blog, for sure you have some idea. Another clue, the photo involves some TREATS.
Of course there will be “No Trick If There’s No Treats.”
Before I show my photo in the book, I would like to tell you more about
Chuck Sambuchino’s Red Dog Blue Dog.
From the cover of the book it is obviously something to do with dogs. Yes, it involves 140 colored photos of dogs, taken mostly by their owners (no photoshop photos simply natural just like what we post on our blog posts). Photographs in the book are paired and Mr. Sambuchino adds a witty political caption on each photo. One dog represents Red and the other Blue. The captions are funny and it will make you laugh and smile. For example,
I was paired with a Pug with a caption of ” Red Dog is focused on balancing the budget.”
Me, Golden Retriever with a caption of ” Blue Dog is focused on balancing the biscuits.”
As a dog owner and political junkie, Mr. Sambuchino had a brilliant idea using dogs(pooches) in creating this book. It is a small book and a perfect gift for any dog-lover (who enjoys politics too). Also, a portion of the proceeds from Red Dog Blue Dog will be donated to no-kill shelters and rescue groups around the country. You can check it out at Mr. Sambuchino’s website. Politics is such a stressful topic, Red Dog Blue Dog will certain provide humorous relief.
That’s ME, page 125 Blue Dog, balancing TREATS.

Golden Thanks to Mr. Sambuchino.
I’m Golden Happy and Honored to be part of your Red Dog Blue Dog book.
Congratulations to our re-elected President Obama for his second term of office.
Looking forward to what he recently said “the best is yet to come.”
If I can concentrate and be serious in balancing a book on my head,
I believe Mr. Obama can balance the budget too.
I wish President Obama all the best of luck.
Just for FUN! and it’s merely a coincidence …
when I was playing last Saturday with my Air Dog Bone it sort of landed on my head.
If you are friends with me in FB, you might have seen a fuzzy photo.
My mom was able to take a photo from her iPhone.
Well, it made her think if I can actually balance my Air Dog bone toy on my head.
What do you you think?
