August 10th was SUGAR’s 15th Barkday! 15 years old for a Golden Retriever is a big deal, so I planned a special dog’s birthday celebration that is fun for both of us. Here are 15 ways SUGAR celebrated her 15th Barkday!
15 Ways to Celebrate Your Dog’s Birthday
1. Take Your Dog to his/her Favorite Place
SUGAR’s favorite place is the BEACH. She loves to swim, play fetch, dig and roll in the sand.
2. Go on a Special Road Trip
For Sugar’s Barkday weekend, we took her to San Diego and Los Angeles.
3. Have a Dog Meet-Up
Two months before SUGAR’s Barkday, we met up with Golden Pal Giselle in Phoenix.
Always Golden FUN, to meet-up with San Diego blog pals Princess Rosy Rue and Sweet Annie.
4. Stay at Luxury Hotel
For SUGAR’s Barkday weekend, she stayed at the Westin Bonaventure – an iconic building which has been featured in many Hollywood movies and shows. Read more on our post: Dog-Friendly Iconic Building Westin Bonaventure Los Angeles

We explored a new park that has a pond and SUGAR loves it. SUGAR loves watching the ducks. On her Barkday, many ducks came up close to her and quacked!
9. TREAT your Dog Tasty Treats
SUGAR had special delish 15th Barkday treats from The Dog Bakery – known for their freshly baked all natural dog treats.
10. Serve Your Dog a Special Barkday MEAL
I served SUGAR’s dog food meal in a fun bone-shape. The top and bottom was made of Just Food For Dog (chicken & rice) and filled with CARU Turkey Stew with a dusting of Bravo Pet Foods raw dehydrated dog food.

Since this year is extra special, I got SUGAR a festive Barkday Hat!
12. Celebrate with lots of SMILES
Grateful for all pals that shared their smiles for Sugar’s Barkday.
13. Take Photos of your Dog
Pictures are a great way to remember special moments. I took about 100 photos of SUGAR on her Barkday.
14. Give Back
There are many creative ways to help needy animals. The Human Society shared 55 Ways to Help Animals. Every day, SUGAR and I help needy animals by simply walking and using ResQwalk app. On her Barkday, we ResQwalk 4.6 miles.
15. Give your Dog a Special Gift of LOVE
Show your dog how important he/she is in your family. SUGAR is always pampered with lots of attention and love. Her 15th Barkday was a good excuse to give her extra affection.Click this link SUGAR15thBarkday to watch a short video of her Barkday!
