Wordy Wednesday: Sad/Good News n MUST READ!


First the sad news is the passing of my Golden friend Abbey.  My Golden Thoughts to Abbey’s family.  Central Park will never be the same without you Abbey. I’ll make sure to eat extra bacon in your memory.

The GOOD NEWS is the other Blog Scraper’s site have been Shut DOWN. Absolutely great news … I can relax and do some blogging.
Many of you have asked What to do and How to report a Blog Scraper?
1) Find out the owner of the site by using whois.domaintools.com
2) Contact the owner of the site based on the websites contact or from whois information. It is hard but try to compose a polite letter informing the violation of copyright.
3) On the whois server stats obtain the host information of the website.
4) Check the website host legal policy on copyright.
5) If you don’t receive a respond from the blog owner, compose a “takedown” email to the website host.
To obtain more detailed information www.plagiarismtoday.com is a good source. I am very fortunate to obtain assistance from the owner of the site. I have learned so much about content plagiarizing for the past two days. Many Golden Thanks.

Before I let rest the topics blog copyright and Blog Scraper, I would like to share a related topic: Blog Spammers – wherein they copy your blog title and only a portion of your post. Oh! and they are trying to be smart by putting a link back to the original blog author so its not enough to be a copyright infridgment. What I’ve seen in blogs that are considered spam are in WordPress (automatic feed most likely from plugin(s)). If your blog posts are used by a blog spammer, the best way to resolve this is to report the website to the host and Google as a spam.
I am glad to know that there’s a solution.
If you view my blog title a bit odd especially on blogger/google reader, I am trying a different way to insert  Copyscape – its for the Blog Spammers … I’m giving it a try to see the outcome on their blog.

How can you protect your blog content from these blog scrapers?
Blog Scrapers are bloggers who gather blog contents from other bloggers and post it on their blog. Is this ethically correct? Absolutely NOT particularly if you have copyright restrictions on your blog content. Blog Scrapers are bloggers looking to make money on the internet the quickest and easiest way. Due to the increase and popularity of blogs, Blog Scraping has become an issue.

Many of you asked “how did I find out my blog was being plagiarized?” Well, on the road we listen a lot to talk radio. Weeks ago the topic was “words/phrases search in Google.” It was supposed to be a relaxing weekend but we did some Googling. YES, Google is your best buddy finding Blog Scrapers. Take Note: Most Blog Scrapers will change the title of your blog post, so make sure to search specific words you used in your blog post. Grateful for Google’s strength in determining plagiarism and tracking down these Blog Scrapers.
Golden Thanks to all of your comments and concerns. I am happy to report that one of the blogger has deleted all the post stolen from many pet bloggers. He finally responded to our email and said “sorry i did not know.  i was thinking that if i give you link back to your blog its just ok.” I’m happy all the posts were deleted but do I believe the Blog Scraper …  NOT at all. We are working on the other blogger to remove not only my posts but all the posts they have stolen from other pet bloggers. We are crossing our paws and hoping to resolve this matter in the next days. Special Golden Thanks to my kitty bloggie friend, Keiko.
Both of these blogs are newly created in WordPress. What I found out is that WordPress has a “plugin(s)” that automatically copies content from RSS feed in which a blogger can also specify what posts will be copied. Imagine that! Why would someone create such “plugin(s)”? How about Blogger? … Not Sure. If anyone can shed light on this topic …….
I would appreciate knowing.

Why Do We Blog?
To share your pet’s life and your love for pets.
When someone re-post  not 1, not 2, not 3 but all of your posts on their blog, it is definitely not pawlite or graciously correct … particularity if you have a Copyright n Linking Restrictions posted on your blog.
We are very upset and angry to found out this weekend that 2 pet bloggers are re-posting our blog posts.
These are petyourdog.info and obediencja.info 
(I am defnitely not providing a link to their blogs. However, you are free to check it out).

What does it really mean having a Copyright n Link Restrictions on your blog?

  

I’ve gotten numurous emails requesting for a link.
I am very picky and particular providing permissions.
WHY? My blog is personal about my life as Sugar The Golden Retriever. 
So don’t get offended if I do not honor your link request.
It is absolutely wrong reposting my blog posts without my permission.
Both blog sites that re-post my blog posts use WordPress and have an odd set-up. One of them is defnitely a blog for profit and has a very strange malicious private policy link.

I am requesting all of you (my bloggie friends) to join forces on this matter. Kindly do a blog post about 
What Does BLOG Copyright and Link Restriction Mean?
I believe that informing and letting it be known to everyone
will help enforce and increase the validity for having a
