Starting in the early 1800, the Golden Retriever breed was appreciated for their rugged, mid-size stature, and athleticism. Originally admired as a hunting breed, a Golden’s trainability allows them be great service, guide, therapy and family dogs.
Enough of that…:-) We wanted a breed that could be a great companion. The kind of companion that we can bring to places that we go. People say dogs teach us and help us in life’s journey……we believe it! Sugar is that special companion for us in our lives.
Sugar was the smallest in her litter but has the heart to explore and face challenges head on. We confirmed this by seeing her conquer her fear of water. Sugar was only 10 weeks when her curiosity first introduced her to water in a kiddy pool. She wade in the shallow and ventured to stick her head under water. She LOVED it! By 8 months, we took her to the lake. The waves were cresting at 3ft and we could not believe what we about to see. Sugar backs up on beach, gathers herself and launches towards the wave. She dives right into the wave and swims back.
We were at awe! Getting water in her nose causing her to choke, she surprised herself. After shaking it off and clearing her nose, her tail started wagging and looked to at us to take another shot at the waves.
