In The City, Exploring #WrigleyField100 #CentennialSeats


 

Last weekend, Sugar had lots of Golden FUN in the city, Chicago. We live in the suburbs, so going to the city is always an adventure.

We went for a stroll on Michigan Avenue, also known as the Magnificent MagMile.

Chicago is known for talented artists and community groups. Every summer, special exhibits are held on the streets of Michigan Avenue.

In 2011, Sugar had an opportunity to sit under Forever Marilyn Monroe giant sculpture. Last year, Sugar got to see 14 planters of Giant Chia Heads. This year, we had so much fun exploring 50 displays of 100 ball bark seats to commemorate some of the greatest moments of Wrigley Field first 100 years. We are big CUBS fans so this adventure was Golden Sweet!

These ball bark seats are artistically designed by artists, celebrities, and community groups. At the end of Summer, these seats will be up for auction with proceeds benefiting Cubs Charities and the community groups.

Two Elevator Rides To The Dog Run


It’s been weeks now, living in the city.
I shared with you the parts of living in a high rise , elevator rides as part of my daily routine.
I also shared with you Tweaking My Beach Body  post places I go for a walk.
I mentioned a parking garage adjacent to the building I’m temporary living in.
Guess what? The top floor has a dog run.
I guess mom missed reading about this benefit as one of the building perks.
On my Welcoming the Month of March post, I gave of a glimpse of the dog run.
It is located on the 6th floor.
It is fenced and on one side it is protected by a cement wall.
The grounds are made of artificial grass and pea rocks.
There’s a doggy poop bags and small trash by the gate.
A faux fire hydrant filled with sand peaked my curiosity.

It’s about 15 yards but it’s good enough for me to do my Golden Run. I do a lot … back n forth.

Since it is located on the top floor, tall buildings are the main scenery.

There are many pets living in the building but most of them are tiny/small dogs.
I’ve seen some of them in the dog run but they are unfriendly and did lots of woofing to me.

I’m joining this post to Monday Mischief, I am good as always but mischief goes to my mom not knowing earlier this dog run and those unfriendly dogs.

High Rise Life: Dog’s Elevator Etiquette


Living downtown and in a high rise, riding the elevator several times a day is a normal routine. I’ve ridden an elevator before so it was not unfamiliar to me. Since it takes longer time for me to go out, I’m very good informing my peeps that it’s almost time. Mom timed it … by the time she puts on my boots and she wears her coat, its about five minutes. Walking and waiting for the elevator is about 1 minute. There are 6 elevators that provide service for 52 floors.
I say it’s not bad at all.

The elevators are busy only during the early mornings, which is not a problem since I like to sleep in. Most of the time it’s just me and my peeps in the elevator. However, there were times I had to share an elevator ride with some of our neighbors
(some of them have a dog). My mom always reminds me of the elevator rules …


First, here are the DO’s of Dog Elevator Etiquette
1) At all times I have to be on a leash, in the hallway and in the elevator.
2) I typically get excited when the elevator doors open and there’s people but I have to be calm as I enter the elevator.
3) In the elevator, I have to stay on the side in a sitting or standing position.
4) Before exiting the elevator, I need to look down and check the landing floor is clear.

Yes, these DO’s are reasonable and I totally understand it.
I’m actually good at following these DO’s rules.


Besides the DO’s mom also made rules of DONT’s of Dog Elevator Etiquette
1) No Staring. I am not allowed to stare at the passengers in the elevator. What? Why? I try my very best to do this. Mom says it’s rude to stare at people. What if they are staring at me too?
2) No Sniffing. I am a dog and I sniff especially if I smell something … I just could not help to sniff this guy behind me, he showered with cologne.
3) No Barking in the elevator. I Woof Woof to communicate. There were times I needed to get mom’s attention and I just could not help not to Woof! Woof!.
4) No ‘Silent’ Noises which means farting. What can I say, it happens as I am a senior dog.


It is important to know these elevator etiquette especially if you live in a high rise.
I hope it was helpful.

To be honest, the process of going out (doing my business) is a total adjustment.
No back door and no backyard I can just dash and do my business.
It’s just temporary but the experience is good to know.

Oh! watch out for the puparazzi in the elevator.
Many passengers have taken my photos from their phone (one of them is my mom).

Strutting The Salty City Sidewalk With My Purple PawZ


As I previously posted, I’m currently a City Dog (just for a couple of weeks).
Not having a backyard is one of the disadvantages.
I have to walk on sidewalks. It’s been cold and snowing so the sidewalks are salted.
Due to my allergies and for safety reasons, I have to wear dog boots.
I really don’t have a say in this case, a Dog Boots is a “must” for me to wear.
There are variety of dog boots but my mom selected PAWZ.
Here I am the first time I wore my Purple PawZ Boots …
strutting in the snow and salty city sidewalk.
It’s not uncomfortable.
It has a traction control that helps on slippery snow and/or icy grounds.
I am seriously getting the hang of walking on cemented/brick sidewalks wearing my PawZ.

PawZ Dog Boots are made of waterproof natural rubber.
In each package there comes 12 boots= 3 sets of boots.
It’s great that it is reusable. It can be easily rinsed with water after each use.

It’s been a week since I used Paws Boots and I’m doing well with it.
My peeps have learned some techniques on how to put it on my paws, it is not my favorite.
I think its one reason many dog owners that have bought/tried Pawz give up.
Hope these tips/suggestions are helpful.
How to Put PawZ Boots on Your Dog’s Paw
1) Stretch the top (opening) really wide.
At first it is very hard to stretch but its made of rubber and its flexible. Hold the stretch.
It’s great if you really have a big hand just like my dad (hands above).
2) Grab the paw. (very tricky, just have to do a trial an error which works well).
3) Slip in the PawZ.
4) Always praise your dog while putting on the PawZ.
5) Provide enough Time and requires lots of Patience.

Don’t give up. It gets easier and easier putting on PawZ .
PawZ has been a part of my outside winter routine.
Suggested Dog Positions to Put on the PawZ Boots
1) Stand position between your human’s legs.
Human’s have a better grip to hold the dog’s paw and slip on PawZ.
This is a fun position mom taught me. It’s the position we often use.
2) Lying on the floor. I call it a silly position.
3) Siting/lying down on the couch, my favorite position.

PawZ is washable. You don’t need to dispose it on just one use.
Well, depending how dirty it is. Just make sure you use your best judgment as PawZ is washable.
My mom washes them every time I use it and wipe/air dry it.
(If you wash/rinse it, make sure check the inside for water.)

One thing my mom learned and wished she did first was to let me try PawZ indoors.
She suggests to put on Pawz and let your dog walk around the house with it.
In the beginning, I had a hop in my walk … mom said it was a funny walk.
Also a very important reminder, make sure your dog’s nails are properly trimmed.

Probably  your thinking, “My dog would never wear any rubber reusable dog boots.”
Wearing protective dog footwear is very important especially if your dog has allergies and for protection from harmful chemicals on the ground.
It’s currently winter and helpful for walking on snow, salty sidewalks and frost bites.
The PawZ boots is like a sock and once it’s on it’s on.
Your dog will have full motion of movement and will have a safe time outdoors.

I give PawZ waterproof rubber dog boots 4 Golden Paws.
Golden Happy to recommend it.
We’ve seen many small/medium dogs wearing Pawz not many large dogs.
I get lots of compliments and lookers while strutting in the city wearing my Purple PawZ Boots.

City Dog in the Gold Coast


I’m originally a Suburban dog (since I was 7 weeks old).
Then for 10 months and 2 days I was an Island dog.
Currently (just for a couple of weeks), I’ll be a City dog.
I’ll be living in the downtown area of City of Chicago known as the Gold Coast.
Most city downtown dogs live in a tall building known as a high rise.
The photo above was taken from our balcony.
I am accustom to see  grass, plants, and trees in my backyard.
Instead, my city backyard is a railed cemented patio with the view of the skyline of Chicago.
Chicago surely has beautiful architecture and great skyline, day or night.
Did you know that Chicago  is the third largest city in the USA.
The Gold Coast neighborhood is one of Chicago’s most treasured residential areas.
Chicago’s Gold Coast got its start in the late 1800’s as the Astor Street District, named after John Jacob Astor. At that time, John was one the richest guys in the country. He did not live in Chicago but he was respected and had several achievements. It provided the Gold Coast neighborhood a status of wealth. The Gold Coast neighborhood got expanded as many high rise residential buildings were built. Also, it is surrounded by luxurious shops. Michigan Avenue (known as the Magnificent Mile) of the Gold Coast is know as the shopping destinations for many visitors to the city and local residents.
I’m surely a lucky Golden Dog to be living temporarily in the Gold Coast of Chicago.

Chicago is a beautiful city and a great place to visit.
