Whose big toe is it?
It belongs to Kamehameha I
I visited his wooden statue located at Lahaina Center, Hawaiian Village Exhibit.
Lahaina is a town in Maui located on the west side of the island.
Who is Kamehameha I?
He was a warrior who fought victorious battle and become “Lord over the Hawaiian islands.”
Kamehameha I established the Kingdom’s Capital in Lahaina.
He died on May 8, 1819 and his remains were secreted in an area unknown to this day to protect the “life force” (mana) that watches over Hawaii.
This wooden statue of Kamekameha I was carved on site in August – October 1993
by Lou Benatto, Jr, a Master Sculptor.
Kamehameha I wooden statue was done in great detail.
It’s enormous and surprisingly done in only two months.
I’m amazed to see it.
If you plan to visit Maui, make sure to visit the
the Hawaiian Village Exhibit at Lahaina center.
You will also see the huge Hula Girl I featured on my previous WW, click here to check it out.
